Ive been trying all night to reproduce this, and finaly found a way to show you the problem. Actualy, there is a few problems with marines/AE/drones/shuttles not showing up on tacops, but so far, I can only reproduce one of them in a way that other people can confirm this.

If I start a new training mission as commander, and straight away I assign a marine to a shuttle, then set up a waypoint on the planet your orbiting outside a mission zone (this is the main part!!). Now, after you have launched that shuttle to deploy the drone, and allow it to return, you will find that you cant find that drone anywhere on the planet via tacops!! since its not in a mission zone. By the way, I didnt leave tacops open when I launched the shuttle. I switched my view to the bridge, then after the shuttle returned, I looked back at tacops, and didnt see it. Now doing this for a drone isnt so bad as you can still extract it, displite not being able to find it, but you cant locate marines to extract if you place them outside a misson zone. Try it and you will see what I mean.

If you want to see the same effect with marines, simply transport them to the surface, outside a mission zone, then once they arrive, hit F1 to go back to the bridge, then go back to tacops, and you wont see them on the planet anywhere. Well, not unless you get lucky and manage to click 'exactly' where you 'think' you dropped them.

I have experienced the same thing...I sometimes cannot find my marines or my mining drone in tacops if either are placed outside of a mission zone. It can sometimes be quite difficult to extract a drone with my shuttle going in realitively "blind." I'm glad I was not the only one experiencing this problem...Although I must say that I experience this in training missions as well as roam and campaign mode, not just training missions.

You do not need to be able to see deployed forces (drones, OC, Marines, etc.) in TacOps to recover them. Just send a SC to the planet and create a waypoint with waypoint orders to EXTRACT OC, DRONE, or TEAM

See pages 30-32 in the manual.

when you first turn on tacops the only thing it will show is you if your on the planet... It will ONLY show you, and the mzones when it is on 2d view...

Just zoom in untill you get to the 3d surface and use the arrow keys to look around... when you see your unit(s) just click on it with your mouse to zoom to it..

(BTW on the default keymap thing the arrow keys will move your CC if you look around in tacops )

Yes, you are both right in what you mentioned about both being able to zoom to the surface, and look around untill you see them far far in the distance. And yes, to the comment about retreving drones. But regarding the extraction of marines, now that Ive yet to get working. I may just be doing something wrong. but it would still be nice if there was a easier way to find those units, if you just want to zoom to them.

I do have one other problem, which IS a genuine problem too as Ive been trying to figure out if I was doing something wrong or not, and that is this...

If you start a mission up as a training mission, and choose EF Marine so you start off on the surface in a tank. Exit the tank, fire off 2 grenades with the ZS10, then run to the nearest supply point, and just re-supply your weapons, and you will see that it gets stuck in a loop, every time!! Only seems to do this for grenades for some reason.

I find that I cant move, no matter how long I leave it running, and I also have a repeated clicking noise in the background, which I think is the noise that is supposed to play when you reload your gun.

Exact steps are...

1.. start training mission as EF Marine (not a pilot)

2.. Eject from your Asset(tank) straight away.

3.. fire off 2 rounds of grenades (mode 3) with the ZS10 rifle, then run to the supply point, and resuply your self with weapons.

If you just do this, you will find yourself suck!

Hope you guys can see this too because i have to exit the program some how to recover (Alt + Q doesnt work at this point!) and it would be nice to be able to work around this some how.

Thats what the TACOPS/ZOOM TO menu is for

1. Did you read the VCF?

2. Did you apply the 1.0.01 final patch?

SC, you mentioned the ZOOM TO function, which actualy didnt work for me in this perticular case, which was why I was having the problem in locating people on the ground. I even tried adding the marine to the priority list, and zooming to it, but the screen never moved from my existing view (looking at the whole planet)

Regarding your questions...

You asked if I had read the VCF. Yes I have, but none of the comments in there relate to the problem I am having. I know there is a delay when you are re-arming, and I waited for the message to tell me when it was finished, but I never got it, even after going for a coffee, and came back 15 mins later, it was still stuck in a loop.

All actions were froze untill I pressed the left mouse button, then it allowed me to look up and down only, but no other movment was allowed, nor was any keyboard shortcuts allowed.

To answer question 2..

Yes, I have the 'latest' patch. But this problem was happening in both the beta patch, and the current patch, which I installed again right before I posted my first message regarding this problem, just in case the patch fixed it, which it didnt.

Re-arming works fine unless you have used mode 3 of the ZS10 rifle. I tried firing a few shots in mode 1, and it resupplied fine. So I started a new game, and fired off in mode 3 (frag grenade) and tried to re-supply, which caused the game to appear to be stuck in a loop.

I hope I am making some sense with this description, and I am hoping that I have not missed anything in the VCF which may be related to this problem.

I can produce this problem again and again quite easy.
