Supreme Cmdr Posted June 21, 2002 Report Posted June 21, 2002 ATI went and broke the table fog in these drivers. If you are running BCM or GTA3 (fix here), the planetary terrain will show up all White. The only way around this is to disable support for table fog in the registry. And this breaks the smoke grenade btw. For BCM, the GTA3 fix (above), might work. It replaces two drivers. Be sure to READ the install notes which are displayed when applying this patch. Then go to your WINDOWSSYSTEM32 folder and make backup copies of those two drivers it replaces!! This way, if the GTA3 fix has adverse effects, you can just delete those two drivers and go back to the previous files without having to re-install the 6094 drivers from scratch. If the GTA3 fix does not solve the problem, you have to do this: Because the ATI driver does not have the table fog entry in the registry by default, you have to use a tool to disable it. Download Rage3DTweak 3.3 and install itRebootGo to Display Properties and from the Rage3DTweak tab enable table fog (double-click on the 3D DirectX tab to access it) and click apply. This step creates the required registry setting for table fog setting and enables it.RebootRepeat step #3 to disable table fog then click apply Reboot This step now disables table fog using the registry entry created in step #3
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 21, 2002 Author Report Posted June 21, 2002 The GTA3 hack above doesn't seem to affect the smoke grenades in BCM, only in BCG.
Mythandril Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 It looks like the new ATI Catalyst drivers that were released yesterday (Saturday Aug. 3) have fixed the problem with the need to disable Table Fog.
Guest Grayfox Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 bout time... i was waiting to see when theyd come out with new catalyst drivers... it does seem to fix the table fog issue though. good spotting
