Pedro Pablo Laracuente Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Allright, i got to play UC more today and now i can hardly wait until my copies arrive!!! but 1 thing has reached my mind: After launching from galcom in Roam mode i found that any hostile craft (fighter, hvy cruiser, transport, etc) that jumps to Galcom is commiting suicide. Even before they finish the jump Galcom defenses are obliterationg the ship without mercy and if its a slow ship it does not get any chance to move, and if i recall correctly the SC said he would revise this for (BCG) UC. Maybe it has been revised and its only Galcom that is so overpowered but this really concerns me since it would really spoil the fun of conducting a strike against a space station. I still remember how fun it was to defend a starstation on the early days of BCM before it was patched to have super-powerful stations! and if the SC likes it that way maybe you could consider making a Scenario like you did for BCM which was an exact copy of the normal roam mode but with weaker stations. Then again, i still have not had enough time with the game since i've just played it on someone's else PC so dont kill me please!!!

Use your cloaking system and station capture is much easier.
Pedro Pablo Laracuente Posted February 9, 2004 Author Report Posted February 9, 2004 quote: Use your cloaking system and station capture is much easier. I know that old trick man, i even wrote a newbie "starting the game guide" a long time ago (two years?) which featured capturing a star station. Look, do this: start a new game and launch your ship from earth (galcom) and then wait there as a sitting duck until you are acquired by an enemy Battlecruiser and you will see what i mean, the station does not get a single scratch, belive me , it's not fun! you don't get to attack the ship, the station does it all for you. Wait until you have a higher level of experience and you can command Galcom vessels on the area, gather a big fleet and attack any of those insurgent or raider (whatever your enemy is) station and your fleet will be completely annihilated without much problems. Sorry if my post seems a bit rush.... i got an emergency trip to the US and i got to go.
Pwnman Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Yeah, and the funny thing is a single tank can take out any starbase. Once you're in the middle of the base nobody bothers you.
Guest Fox__Trot Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 actually I was hanging in orbit around LV103 and the gam/mil's assaulted (and were doing okay til I decided to step in) the fal/ station there - didnt notice the gam's instantly exploding
Pedro Pablo Laracuente Posted February 14, 2004 Author Report Posted February 14, 2004 Alright, i tried going against 2 stations and i didn't last 5 seconds (yes, 5) operational, and my ship went poof! at 10. My first atempt was ith a cruiser (sunflash) and headed against pixan in Lennen. Results: After hyperjump to station i could not get anywhere near to decent firing range and i could not move my ship that much, i collapsed way too easily. I tried this against another rAider station in the area with a Super Carrier (Firestorm) and i got the same results as above with little variations. Look boys, for reference i found via the search function of this forum the thread that made the SC change the stats of stations, you can review it here and you will see how all this came to be. One of the SC posts there gave me the idea of asking any of the beta testers like Gallion or PugWash (i assume thye DO have GBS-III) to build a script to change the stations stats for us. I have not played UC for too long because i still don't have my own in my computer so i would really appreciate that those of you around here who have Universal Combat post your thoughts about this since i would really like to know what the others think, so please, anyone?
Eclipse Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 I did make a "mod" for BCMG that change the firepower stats for everything to "balance" out fighters and staion weapons. but that was quite some time ago.
