Subject: Stupid questions for YOU for me NOT

BCMG with patch 010101_RC7

Question 1:

I want to do the following , send a shuttle down to a planet or moon pickup de mining drone, transfer the cargo from to the shuttle cargo bay and then deploy the shuttle again. With my AE no problema, but with using only the waypoints order I don not know how to swap de cargo from mining drone to shuttle.?

Question 2:

It is about the Fatigue factor and Life Factor, when should send them to the MEDIBAY or put them OFF -DUTY?

Question 3:

I crashed my ship on the planet and everything is MAL FUNCTION on the Bridgeviewer. I went to the LOGISTIC Computer . When I checked the POWER management everything is OFF, thus I went to the CRAFT for starting repairs on my CC, but all DECK have green indication and or 100% operational.

How is this possible?

Question 4:

It is not really a question, but for people who have a Spanish or other keyboard than US and you want to use the KEYBOARD COMMAND SHEET this is the solution. Just go to the control panel and change the keyboard settings to US 101 before playing the game, when your finish just put back the original setting you had.

Thanks

1) You are talking about mining I am going to assume.

You can't transfer cargo (the minerals you just mined) to the CC via the waypoints menu(s). What you have to do is go to Tactical>Loadout>SC?>Drone where ? = the number of a shuttle aboard the CC. Let's say SC1 just came back. Then you would access Tactical>Loadout>SC1>Drone. If the drone is on board it will have button to " unload all cargo ".

You can get to Tactical from the Bridgeview or expanding the Tacops menu and clicking tactical from there.

2) Personal choice. Some people rotate them out at 10% fatigue but they will eventually go on their own.

3)Hmmm. One deck at least has a little button that you have to click to see about 8 more systems. If your power is off there is a reason. Did you try turning it back on? Perhaps you are out of fuel. No power no workie.

4) Good tip. You may want to post that in the tips and tricks forum.

I was in the same situation. I entered Earth with no waypoints set and I did a shift-E to land. I ended up landing in water. It destroyed all my shuttle craft bays and and the reactors shut down. I checked everything (including the 8 more systems) and everything except the shuttlebays were 100%. I could not get the reactors back on.

My thinking was the water entered the engine exuast and shorted the reactors without cuaseing any damage.

The only thing I could do was exit the craft. I didn't have comms to request a tow ship and since I didn't any shuttle craft, I couldn't evac everybody, and they slowly died from the life support sytems being down.

Point is, Don't land in the water!!

Your CC enters the atmosphere above the first waypoint so if you enter with no waypoints, I believe your entry point is random. Moral of the story? Set at least one waypoint when entering a planet's atmosphere.

I'm cringing at this. Are you sure?

Just checked in game. With no previous waypoints set the CCenters atmosphere at a default 00,00 on the planetary map. It is not random.

Then the manual is wrong. Cringe.

I don't have it in front of me but I'm pretty sure it states that entry is random if no waypoint is set. The section that talks about "Entering a planets atmosphere" or something similar.

Wish I could find it but I'm sure it was changed along the way somewhere. It could be lumped in with "minor fixes" in the vcf and not specifically mentioned.

Will look some more but can't promise anything.

The point is don't crash. Or land in water like Delta said. That IS mentioned alot.

Ok, here we go. From the BC3K !!! version control file

quote:

If you create waypoints on a planet, the ship entering the planet will emerge at the location of the FIRST waypoint. Previously, the ship would emerge at the center of the region and then have to fly to the first waypoint. If you are flying the ship, you will also enter the planet at this first waypoint. If no waypoints are set, the ship will default to emerging at the center of the region.

That's what I'm remembering and observing. Otherwise you are correct.

The manual is never wrong. Just superceded.

Ok, just for completeness in case the SC wants to update the manual revisions doc since I'm sure he has nothing better to do these days.

BCM Gold manual, 7.17 Enter/Leave A Planet (p.144)

second paragraph:

"If you want to enter a planet at a precise location, you have to go to TACOPS and set a waypoint for your CC. Upon planetfall, the craft will be directly above that waypoint. This is because waypoint 1 is always the planetfall location. If there is no waypoint, the planetfall location will be selected at random."

Wrong. If there is no waypoint, the craft will enter the planet at the center of the first map it loads. Its never random. This was changed in BC3K (as Chavik pointed out) where previously, regardless of the location of waypoint #1, the craft would enter the planet at the default center position then navigate to waypoint #1

That's a Court Marshal if I ever heard one (at least your dreams should be plagued with the sounds of your crews last gasps.)

Gotta give it to the crew though, they won't even try to save themselves from your own stupidity.

The worst part is, we were on Earth. If there was only a way to open the airlocks and shuttlebay doors, cut open the hull, or something, they could have got fresh air and lived.

Btw, I did not abandon my crew. Once there was nothing to do, My AE went and breathed his last gasps with them.

One piece of newbie advice, save your game before you make planet-fall.

Another piece of advice, Don't attempt to land on Jupiter.

OK, basically I was fiddling around with a BC screenshot in paintshop pro and I was seeing what it was like to get rid of that, sometimes, annoying text thatÔÇÖs on the bottom left hand corner of the 3d views. It came out to be very cool!!

Now, is there any way of getting rid of the text in the 3d views? Maybe there is some way of doing it through various keystrokes or whatever, and I just overlooked it over the years. I dont know

If you canÔÇÖt get rid of it, is there way anyone of changing the color of the text to something darker?? Maybe this could be done through some BC editor application?? Like GBS or BCS?

So if anyone could help me in anyway, IÔÇÖd very much appreciate it.

Well, why is it so important for it to be there? It's not life and death. If you wanted to use it for a screenshot or something, just remove the text yourself in a Paint editor or something.
