Farten Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Start a new roam campaign using the defaults. After the intro animation select to...moon and then shift+9 After exiting Hyperspace at the moon jump gate DO NOT MOVE the craft in any way, so that it remains in the exact position it exited Hyperpsace ... just select Galcom and wait for the the jump drive to recharge Once recharged press shift+9 ... and you will travel backwards. At least I did ! I also tried jump to moon then jump to venus then jump to moon. It seems that as long as you do not move the craft and hyperpsace back the way you came then you will go backwards.
Supreme Cmdr Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Yeah, and? The ship has forward and retro engines and it will accelerate in the direction of the target because flying backwards is perfectly legal. So, since the station is behind you....
Antares Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 When this happens.. I usually just shut off A/P, rotate the ship into the 'forward' direction, and resume. Yeah it looks strange, but I got the impression that it works as designed. Hyperjump engines are different than conventional engines, so my thought was that if you're leaving 'real' space, maybe it doesn't matter what direction you are facing Still gives me a feeling of 'running backwards' at full speed. Not very natural, but it can be done.
ouch Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 well I actually use this as a defensive manouver. if a ship (most likely fighters) arives at my destination while I'm still in hyperspace I do a 180 in hyperspace because I know the AI's default behavior is to move towards me. thus when I arive I will have flown past them and am now situated with the main guns pointed at their thrusters and then they explode
