Screenshot format...

How do I open the screenshots I take in UC? I just took a lot of them documenting all the stuff I did over the last hour of play. I'd even like to convert them to jpeg so I can share 'em on my website.

UC is soooo coool.

Flew my Firestorm over a raider base. Launched all 8 fighters, and they quickly took care of the air resistance. My ship's PTA system took down a lot of air defence. My marines and I swept in to take out the rest of the on the ground.

Afterwards, I messed around a bit. Pretty damn cool how you can land a support craft on the landing bay on the firestorm. I landed my Starlance on there and took some shots just to show the amazing scale. (I modded my assets file so the Firestorm comes with an extra Starlance for my AE to use (I also know that if I plan to report any 'bugs' that I will revert back to my unmodified assets file and make sure I'm not screwing it up))

Then I drove my APC onto my Shuttle, then got in the shuttle and flew around with my APC still on top, hah! Then I had my shuttle hover up in the air, while I jumped out and jetpacked onto the shuttle and took some shots of me and my APC parked on top of my hovering shuttle.

Ah, lots of fun. Wow, and I'm barely scratching the surface of this game.

They are in the shots folder. File type Targa(TGA). It's a standard format. WinXP has a picture viewer that will show them. If you want to convert them then find a program that will do it (most all you find will).

I have winXP and when I try to use the picture viewer to open it I get unrecognized file format... !?

Sounds like you also have MS Office installed with Microsift Photo Editor? If yes, then MS Photo editor is setup to be your associated TGA program, but it cannot handle these TGA files.

Try this, goto the folder with the TGA files, right click to see the menu, and the use the OPEN WITH with or CHOOSE program to see what alternate programs you have installed.

MS WIndows and Fax view has issues seeing these picture, and MS Photo Editor says that same File error, but you may have something else installed that you can choose.

If you don't I suggest going to Alchemy's web page: http://www.mindworkshop.com/alchemy/alchemy.html and downloading the best shareware (more like fully functional but it nags you a bit ...like winzip) program called GWS...graphic workshop...I have been using it for 10+ years and it will do many many useful graphic needs for you.

Actually, you can open them with Windows Media Player ... though the pix will be upside-down (mine were, anyway). Also, QuickTime Player will work (right-side up, I think) ... the QT Picture Viewer worked but kept freezing up on me.

To convert to JPEG, the Picture Viewer allows you to copy the image for pasting to MS Paint. But, if you have any digital camera or scanner software, try it too. I use my scanner program to load and covert the images ... works very well.
