chanys Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Okay, so I must be a noob... I know this is kinda close to the post that SC just locked, and I'm probobly gonna get made to feel dumb.. I have at least a dozen systems on support craft, shuttles and fighters alike that I can't repair. I try it the same way I have always been doing it, logistix->ships->sc or fighter. click on the system that is damaged, click on repair. asign a number of engineers I meet all the part requirements to repair the system. and it commences the repairs. what happens is it gives me the same start time and finish time for the repair. according to the perscan the system engineer goes to the required spot but at the end of that minute that he gets there, he leaves. (makes sence since it was the same start and end time) However, he leaves without actually fixing anything. the worst condition of a system I have is at 87%, and I have at least a dozen systems that are stuck at 99%. I have found a way to fix them, but I was wondering if it was the only way because it can be time consuming, is to manually (with my AE) fly them to a starbase and let them do the repairs. FYI... I am in no way using a modified game or using cheats. So don't get my post locked. And if its some kinda bug, I have no idea how to reproduce it, sorry. edit additions= im playing UC build 7 [ 05-02-2004, 01:44 AM: Message edited by: chanys ]
Charles Lindsey Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Try this link. I linked to my specific post but you can scroll up for other infomation. Be sure to click the link in Ace Ventura's post. That's another good thread. Also, you must have the parts to repair support craft. You are given very few. There are also kits that will repair almost anything on a support craft but you are given even fewer of those. Or is it the other way around? HMmmm. Darn. Either way you are given very few parts to repair support craft. To summarize: You must have the parts. Don't repair a system if its status is green. Don't assign so many system engineers to a repair that it only takes a minute. That screws with the AI logic of the repair guys.

chanys Posted May 2, 2004 Author Report Posted May 2, 2004 I read the manual front to back, and the appendix top to bottom. I had nothing to do better at work one day. I made sure I said system engineer, and not chief engineer. It's the system engineers that do the actual fixing right? Anyway, I get it about the don't fix it if it's green. I was being obsessive about it, but not fixing it when it's 99% makes sence. Here is a more specific example of a system not green. My FC-4 (Zentar) Main Life support is at 78% now. This seeming like an important system I want to fix it right? being as it's in yellow condition, I would hate to lose my 80+ AI pilot do to some type of malfunction in the future. Through the logistix computer I assign 1 system engineer to fix it. if I assign 1 system engineer, it should take several minutes or maybe even an hour or so. So im looking at the button to click repair. under is it says, "FC Repair Kit Need=0 Have=50 Ships condition is Green. It's 4/12/3030 08:59 I click One System engineer to do the repairs. He will commence at 09:02 He will complete at 09:02 OPR status is 78% Completed 0% Assigned 1 Standby 19 So would I need parts that arent listed then to fix this system? Haha on a side note, I tried to actually figure out what minerals I shouldn't be putting together, by actually doing it. (edit) using a different commander. And i'm not entirely sure how much moding is going on, but I don't, I think the game is fine as is. I didn't really think this was a problem until SC said repairs are working and always have been. I just figured it was natural decay of a system, as in, you can only fix the thing so many times.

Unless you're an obssessive compulsive, there's no need to panic just because a system is not 100%.
