Guest Captain_Loop Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 Hey DS or anyone really, I was playing as Gammulan, with my G-class supercruiser, and I realised something quite odd 1) My crew are human (Resnig, Tommy etc) 2) They all speak human I read the thread about having different ships for different alien races and i agree with your comment that its like having french cars driven by germans. BUT-- In the game manual appendix, you have the alien pictures of the Gamullan/Droidan commander etc, so im curious as to why an alien crew doesn't exist for different races. And it wouldn't matter that they speak english because WE as humans can only understand english so there'd be no point in making it Gammulan and no one understands. If you're this impatient I doubt that UC/BC will be your game... Now siddown and be patient, soldier. I agree that it would be nice to have pictures reflecting your race, but this is not the case. I don't even look at the faces of my crew anymore, so I couldn't care less if a gammulan sucker or a terran face is looking at me! Besides, you only choose a race/caste for your commander. Who says he cannot have Terran officers? Or are you one of those thinking that Worff is actually a human being who was living too close to a nuclear reactor in his youger years instead of being a Klingon?
Guest kenny87 Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 If it really bothered someone that much they could change the portraits in the npc.zip in the gfx folder...though i can't remember whether you had to unzip all the files or just save the new files in that directory.
Gol_Stoan Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 The AE as commander, represents his race, all the other officers on board are cheap mass produced clones. The lower level personnel, the medics, marines, and engineers are probably the same race as the AE but they are wearing masks, so there is know way to really know. Think about it, when a marine dies, you have to pay money to recruit a new one, but if Resnig dies, he gets replaced for free.
