I have been playing instant action scenario IA0119

I found a bug and reproduced it several times

when the mission begins, of to the right, is a blackghost gunship. I fire upon this gunship to destroy it. at one point it rises into the air to escape. One more shot brings it back down. it crashes back down, hits the ground, an explosion is heard, then the screen goes black and i get a message from Windows stating that UCG.exe has encountered an error and needs to close.

I have reproduced this problem several times

any way you can help?

Sorry sir i was not aware that it was friendly

but either way, any idea why mine might crash if a an explosion like that is sounded?

could it be my graphics?

I have the ATI Radeon Express 200 integrated graphics chipset.

And I have used the UCAWA Vid tester on it. The tester says that the game should work fine with my graphics.

A tester named Pugwash said that it would work to tell me if the graphics capabilities opf my computer where suitable to use

I have attempted to destroy that particular gunship in many different ways

i know that its friendly, but even so, i should be able to destroy it without it crashing yes?

what i have found so far is that it doesnt matter how you destroy it, but the very act of destroying it will crash it. and if i go without destroying it, i can kill as many enemy troops and watch as much of the battle as i feel. that is the only occurence that has crashed my game so far, but i have not tried the campaingns or ROAM.

I still need to run some tests, like destroying an enemy vehicle to see if it makes a difference.

I'll report back with anything interesting i may find.

I have tested it further and i believe i have found a solution

I found that it did not matter what i destroyed, or even if i destroyed it. If a vehicle was destroyed in my field of vision or vicinity, it caused an exception. im not sure if buildings fall under the same category, but i dont believe they do.

Every time it crashed it was directly after an explosion.

I went into the options, and Disabled the Damage particle FX, the Explosion particle effects, and the Explosion fragments. I then proceed to try the scenario again

not only did i destroy the friendly gunship, but i was able to destroy many buildings and other vehicles without it causing an exception.

i have not tested this throughly yet, but it was the first time in my entire UC and UCG experience that i have died of natural causes in an Instant Action scenario, the first time i have ended a scenario without it hanging.

if it comes up again, i will investigate and post the details.

He's wrong. Are you sure you told him which game you were talking about? UCG and UCAWA have different graphics engines and requirements. Sure, if the tool says that your computer can run UCAWA, then it will definitely run UCG, but that tool only checks for shader compatibility; nothing else.

Why? This has nothing to do with the game. You obviously have issues with your graphics card. Check your drivers, DirectX installation etc.

well, i still have many CTD's that happen at random places, but none of them i can quite reproduce yet

so i figured if i found one that i could reproduce, i would post it and see if someone can help me.

If you are having many CTDs, then you need to sort out issues on your computer. These tech support forums are for our games, not troubleshooting manufacturer or user related computer issues.

well sir,

this is the only game i ever have problems with

and almost every CTD happens planetside.

very few happen in space.

Planet operations are very stressfull for the machine.

Its got nothing to do with stress. He either didn't install + patch correctly or his drivers are out of date, improperly installed etc. Also, the VCF clearly warns that the Feb 2006 version of DirectX is required.

It could be any number of things; none of which have anything to do with the game.

alright sir, ill look in on that

ill come back if none of those work.

the Feb 06' version of DirectX? i just got this comptuter about a week ago, and I installed the Direct X 9.0c a few days after, from the website

would that be the Feb 06' version?
