cpaek Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Whenever I walk on the planet, my view seems to change and I start to walk in a completely different direction from where I began. Not sure if this happens much in space, but definitely when you are on the planet. Also, I noticed that I cannot see my character driving my vehicle, nor do I see any of my NPC marines or for that matter another player in multiplayer. Sorry to post this if it has been mentioned before, but these are some of the things I have come across while playing recently. I have applied the latest patch sucessfully as well. Thanks for the support SC.

From the VCF : 18. FIXED: In first person the view position would drift due to precision loss. I can verify that this is fixed in 1.00.02. Also, its good to get in the habit of becoming very familiar with this document. You will often find the answer to a question or find out that what you think is a bug/issue has already been reported and documented.
cpaek Posted February 10, 2004 Author Report Posted February 10, 2004 Sorry for the mistake, but it is not fixed on my end. I have applied the new patch and in FPS it still drifts. Actually, I wouldn't even call it drifting, it shifts views very quickly where you will be walking in a completely different direction.

Then stop drinking while playingthe game Anyway, it works just fine, so I have no clue what you're talking about.
Guest BaBaBooey Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 No, the gent is right. You'll be using the jetpack and flying to the east and suddenly the compass will spin, the view will spin and you'll be going an entirely different direction. I know this is going to sound like I'm drinking but it's like the thing hates when you travel on the 90s (0,90,180,270) I don't have problems when I fly at say 87 degrees but at 90 forget about it. I did install the patch and I concur, this happens. BaBa
Eclipse Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I can reporduce this at 90 degrees heading but not reliably. Problem: player heading and orientation resets to 0 degrees if player turns to heading 90 degrees. reproduce: 1. sng ia0115 2. activate jetpack and fly forward 2. turn to heading 90 3. view snaps back to heading 0 notes: I can't reproduce this at 180 or 270, only 90 degrees but not 100% of the time. I can't reporduce this while running on the ground.

Did you see him say anything about a jetpack? quote:Originally posted by Eclipse: I can reporduce this at 90 degrees heading but not reliably. Eclipse Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Update: seems to only happen when turning left. eg, the heading decreases from 100 to 90 and then it snaps back to 0. doing this will usually get it to snap, doesn't matter if you are in space, on the ground, or flying. Supreme Cmdr Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 I have reproduced and fixed this. It is a direct result of the revision in the RC1 patch. You know what they say about leaving well enough alone?
