Supreme Cmdr Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Make sure you have patched the game correctly - and that your router (if you are using one) is running the latest firmware. If you are seeing "unscanned" servers, this means that you are using a firewall and you have not opened the ports required by the game. Please read the multiplayer section of the FAQ for hints on what ports you need to open if you are using a firewall.
Guest Firenight21 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Thanx for information i have checked all thing you said and normaly it must work but the game crashed again mhhh and there is another problem with version 2.00.9 the singelplayer game crashed every time if i go an tactical computer on the crew button in the non patched version it works is a new patch in sight ??? the things fixed in patch are ok but this mhhh what should i try or wait on the next patch ???
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 There is no new patch in sight for whatever problem you are having. If v2.00.00 crashes as you described, then you did not apply that patch correctly. You will need to uninstall the game and start with a new install. Then apply both 2.00.00 and 2.00.09 according to the FAQ. You have to copy the patch files INTO the game install folder.
Guest Firenight21 Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Ok thanx i have reinstalled the game patche etc and evrything works fine Single player Game and in multiplayer the browser dont crash anymore fantastic But !!! i dont see any server unscanned see no server the programm says only sorry no server avialbel im driving crazy in Germann : ich werd noch ver├╝ckt mhhh they are sometimes down ??? i have try at 0:21 MEZ i read the multiplayer faq but no idea Can you gave me a tip again?? or do you want talk with a stupid newbie like me

I think one of the later patches re-sets them. For sure, if you've re-installed the game, they will be re-set.
Guest Firenight21 Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Ok all thinks works fine now but this ****ing passwort dont know i can write this here but i give it in corectly i think i read this in the regestration page under server info i set the mmmm small and big letters ??? right and the quest me again after the pass is the pass under server info wrong in i-net ??? last problem before i can start multi game hope anyone answers me quick
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 The password is case sensitive. And there is a bug (look in the VCF) whereby after you have entered it and it has been accepted, you will be prompted again for it. If you know you entered it correctly, just wait and the second request screen will eventually be removed and you will connect. You can also use the commandline options to connect to a server.
Guest Grayfox Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 ok instead of making a new thread about basically the same thing, ill just post here. when i got MP, i get the "sorry no servers available" message. when i use the command line to connect to a server, it works, but when the game gets done loading it freezes up right as you start. i see my weapon, i see terrain (beautiful i might add), i cant move, cant fire, talk nothing. i reboot my machine and try MP again... only this time i get the UC splash screen (the black screen with the UC logo) it hangs for about a minute, then i get this error message: quote:UC caused an invalid page fault in module ~DF394B.TMP at 0167:01a5d86b. Registers: EAX=00004ffe CS=0167 EIP=01a5d86b EFLGS=00210212 EBX=00000008 SS=016f ESP=0127ed9c EBP=0127eda8 ECX=00f09000 DS=016f ESI=012d4add FS=277f EDX=00000007 ES=016f EDI=00000d55 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 0f b7 44 08 02 d1 e8 83 c0 07 99 f7 fb 03 f0 47 Stack dump: 01ca0f80 01b7c6fc 01b60570 0127edc8 019e1c19 00005004 40ce6a69 00000000 01ca0f80 01c9e8f0 01b60570 0127ee48 01ca0f60 00400000 00000000 0001d189 im stumped now cause ive updated my vid drivers, DX, tried a fresh install, patched up to 2.00.11... im just stumped... and frustrated. i have tried deleting the uc config file and restarting the game, and that works, but if i try MP i get the same crap over again. any help would be appreciated.
jamotto Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 How long do you wait when you are loading the game? It takes me 1-4 minutes before I can move when I load a MP game planetside.
Guest Grayfox Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 i waited a few minutes.... not sure how long.

So I have no idea what you're talking about. It seems to me that you have installed and patched the game incorrectly. And to make things worse, you are probably NOT using the "Join MP Server" shortcut. And if you are getting the no servers found message, read the FAQ because your firewall or router could be blocking the required packets. quote:Originally posted by jamotto: How long do you wait when you are loading the game? On my DSL connection, is takes less than 20 secs.I don't think that is the delay Jamoto is refering to.In all the marine careers (other than space force) the game will hang for a while at the opening screen.Usually the rifle is in mid position, and bringing up the windows XP task manager indicates that the game is not responding. However, just waiting it will usually start. Seems like the delay is less starting in a window (/w1). [ 06-15-2004, 01:43 PM: Message edited by: Cc ]
Guest Grayfox Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 quote:The MP executable does NOT display a splash screensorry, what i meant to say was the splash screen showed up when i started up UC not MP. i started up UC to change the in game screen res etc. thinking that might be a problem. when i tried to start up UC thats when i would get that error message. quote:you are probably NOT using the "Join MP Server" shortcutyes i was. and i re-read the instructions on HOW to patch the game to make sure i was doing it correctly, and i was. quote:And if you are getting the no servers found message, read the FAQ because your firewall or router could be blocking the required packets. thats funny cause i dont use a router or a firewall.... although the company i go thru broadband with might... ill wait longer when i see the in game screen in MP and see if jamotto is right.

On my DSL connection, is takes less than 20 secs.If you log on and try to connect to a server. After the loading scenario screen and you get your first glimpse of the surface of the planet there is a second pause. During this pause your gun is usually pointed skyward and your hand is shown palm up. I tested by starting the game and loading a MIM using all default settings. I would then close the game down and restart and connect to a different server. the results were server#; Pause length; # of people on server server2; 4min; 0 server3; 4min 30sec; 0 tried again 6 hours later server2; 4min 36sec; 0 server3; 4min 54sec;?(was disconnected from server) server4; 1min 36sec; 1 tried again 2 hours later server4; 1min 57sec; 2 server2; 4min 18sec; 0 I do have dsl for my Internet connection.
Guest Grayfox Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 well, i waited... and waited... and finally lo and behold i was able to play MP. halej frickin luja. this was only with server 2 though. havent tried the others yet. i have a cable connection... i wouldnt of even tried connecting with a dial up.

Supreme Cmdr Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 quote:Originally posted by jamotto: The next person who posts about something that is (a) covered here in the forum ( covered in the VCF will have their posting rights revoked. Everyone pretty much knows by now that there are a LOT more units in a planetary scene than in a space region. As such, starting an fp career will take longer as the server sends a ton of info to the client prior to startup. That and other issues are clearly listed in the VCF. If you had actually run your tests in space, you would have seen that client connection is less than 1 min. Also, the network layer deliberately has pipelines set up for the lowest common denominator (56K) so, regardless of whether you have a dial-up or broadband, the client connection will be relatively the same. This will be changed in the future once I can find a way to throttle it and prevent 56K dial-ups from having a bad playing experience. And those settings in the server browser, DO work. Use them. What the hell this has to do with the subject of the thread - nor why you posted in here - is beyond me. Client startup on the server has NOTHING to do with the server browser. DennyMala Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Indeed MP works pretty fine with my 56k dial up connection and without lag. Congrats on a fine job SC, it's the first time I can play MP without seeing a slide show....
