Guest Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 I've been experimenting a lot lately with large air-land ground assaults. I was wondering if any of you guys have any tips or strategies you would like to share about what to take out when and with what. I know I can always drop a nuke from orbit but that sometimes takes the fun out of it (plus my doctor told that fallout irritated my sinuses ). Here's what I've learned so far 1. Lauch pads: Deadly to ground assets. They'll launch fighters that can decimate ground vehicles in a heartbeat. I've also seen them deploy shuttles full of marines that swarm around like angry hornets. 2. SAM/STO (duh!): Seriously bad news for fighters/shuttles. I tried to take them out with ground assault vehicles/marines, but they get hammered by the fighters. 3. Bunkers/Barracks: House marines. nuff said. I usually make the launch pads my priority target. Sometimes I'll sneak in by myself in an ATV and lob some Radix misslies at it, finish it off with cannon, then head back to the shuttle. I might try to take out the bunkers/barracks on my way out if there isn't too much resistance. After that I'll land the shuttle's beyond the range of the misslile batteries and send in my ground assault force to take out air defenses and then send down the fighters. Like I said I'm just experimenting so if any of you guys have had more success with something else, I'd be glad to hear.

chrismoney7 Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 i find the biggest place and ram my shuttle into it if i get past the SAMs
Guest Grayfox Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 hmmm SAMS... the last thing you want to hear as a marine on a shuttle trip inbound is "incoming missle" thats a pucker factor of 9.5
Guest Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 Hmmmm, okay, well I'll keep trying and see what else I come up with. I was playing with an Aestrom, but its ground vehicles aren't really all that great. When the new patch comes out, I'll try my luck in a ground-pounder's dream: the Firestorm. Oh, and by the way, I've officially joined the Gammulan fleet. I guess it was about timed I quite being a lurker and joined a fleet.
Cruis. In Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 I haven't actually tried this yet. but when I can...this is what I'll do. (sounds fun anyway) set my CC down in the middle of the landing zone and proceed from there. Land right on the barracks or the launch pad. Then deploy my marines right off! Imagine them coming down the ramp firing! Imagine your a marine at a base and my CC comes right down on yer head!
