Guest Hellbinder[CE] Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I cant belive there is no "night at the movies Constantine" post yet. I am waiting to see it until i get some feedback. Anyone here see it yet? it must not have been a big deal if no one is interested enough to post about it. [ 02-24-2005, 08:13 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
Zane_Marlowe Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I saw it, I enjoyed it, it wasn't a piece of art, but it was entertaining. The Good: Excellent images of angels / demons / heaven / hell, Rachel Weisz, spooky coolness, Keanu Reeves, The Bad: Too talky without actually being able to resolve the plot into a tight form, not enough images of angels / demons / heaven / hell, Keanu Reeves. 6/10 How's that?
Supreme Cmdr Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I too saw it on opening day and liked it. Not too over the top. It did drag on and got boring at some parts (useless dialog) but it was entertaining. 8/10
Scrivener Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 It was pretty good - with the movie being hurt a bit by some random bouts of very mild sillyness. I actually got a little freaked out at times as the movie sometimes got a little closer to reality than I was ready for. Some of the things in that movie I've actually seen, and I am familiar with some of the rituals (depsite numerous liberties and convenient innacuracies). What really bugged me was that ridiculous cross-shotgun thing. I mean, wtf. That's just stupid. The movie also gets its religions confused and, therefore, contradicts itself at times. I'm also a little annoyed by the concept of 'magical' relics. Still, I wonder if the filmakers knew how accurate some of the imagery and thematic material is? If you want some trippy images of heaven & hell - its worth your dime. The central conflict is also pretty damn scary. The words Gabriel leaves with Constantine at the end of the 'library' scene was especially chilling. Anyhoo, neat dark movie. I'd compare it most closely to the Ghostbusters, sans the humor. I hope they do a sequel. 8/10
Zane_Marlowe Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 Wait, wait.... I have to check something here... SC rates 8/10 and... Scrivener rates 8/10, Oh my gosh! SC and Scriv rated a movie the same! Now if Constantine visits hell, he'll be amazed to find it frozen over!
Kevin Trotter Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 I do beleive that is one of the signs of the end of days. SC and Scriv agreeing on a rating
Scrivener Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 lol. Should I change mine to a 7.9?
