Is it really that good? I'm worried they are going to glorify the violence and what-not as well as using it as a tool to say the "War in Iraq is bad".

Well from what I heard and read (from the book version) it doesn't glorify war nor denounce it. Just has characters with different point of views on war and I think the main character winds up with an opinion of his own by the end.

I wasn't too terribly impressed. Good movie... just wasn't as deep as it pretended to be. I guess because my own RL drama outdid his.

I have heard this called a "must-see" in several reviews, and for the life of me I can't see why. I suppose if there are people out there naive and/or gullible enough to think that all those intense firefights that you see on the History Channel and CNN news clips are the norm of military life, then maybe for them it would be a good lesson.

Mostly, the movie exemplified my own military service - excruciatingly long dull periods filled with tedium with some moments of mild excitement thrown in.

Make no mistake, this is NOT a war movie. It has NO action, and there really is no point or message to it that I could see. Foxx was good, but he always is. Not good enough to save this meandering and mostly pointless film however. 4/10

I just saw it last night and man! I LOVED IT! It was perfect, I didn't learn anything, but enjoyed watching how things were for some people in a war. Man, those snipers are crazy people.
