The interim government will last until January of 2005, which is when the new democratically elected government will take power from the interim government. Also, once the Iraqi's army and police are trained, and they have the manpower to do it themselves. THAT is when we will leave, not before then. Leaving before the Iraqi's are prepared to provide their own security will be giving terrorists a new operating theater. Which we cannot and must no allow. We will leave when it is time, and not before...

We will most likely have troops in iraq for many years to come.(both officially and in a non-official capacity, just as we do NOW, though the numbers of each will swing)

Al Quaeda is freaking out, because now that the interim government is in power they have to convince the Iraqis that it is actually the US that still controls Iraq, and that the this new government is a puppet. Which it is NOT by the way.... The interim government is in power, now the terrorists are going after IRAQI representatives, NOT American ones. Al Quaeda is scared to death that the Iraqi people are going to turn against them, and it is already happening in Falujah. The people there are sick of the militias, they are sick of the terrorists, and the anvil is going to fall on Al Quaeda in Iraq BIG TIME. The US Military is against them, the interim government is against them, and now the people are turning against them. Iran is having the same problem, only it is going to take a little bit longer. The people there are tired of the Mullahs, they are sick of the terrorists, and they are tired of the government telling them what they have to do. You heard it here first, The Iranian Mullahs have less then a year left before the Iranian people overthrow them and follow Iraq into Democracy. Then the terrorists will REALLY be in deep kaka.

You do realize that we still have troops in Germany since WWII, and that was 60 years ago. We still have troops in South Korea, and that was 50 years ago. Where's the outrage over that? Actually, we're talking about pulling our troops out of Germany now, and that's becoming the source of outrage. It turns out that Germany fears the loss to their economy of our 100,000 soldiers spending their incomes in German shops and restaurants. Go figure...
