The constitution tells the federal government what it CAN do, and NO WHERE does it give the federal government the power to give my money in aid, to ANYONE, for ANY purpose, or for ANY reason...

ROFL, yeah, I can see that a whole lot of things get done when the government gets involved...Ignorance and wishfull thinking is bliss, but it's not an excuse Cc, read the constitution, research on how the government works, and then you can say things like that...that is, then you will not say things like that.

Soback, why is it that immigrants know more about the constitution then natural born US citizens?

We need more immigrants like that!!

It may actually be enough to save this country and our constitution....

I just love that, we have what? 25% of the worlds wealth, and we give over 60% of the charitable contributions total.

Give me a flipping break.....

Percentages mean NOTHING compared to our economies.

Play your game with percentages, go ahead, because I can play that game too.

We have given MORE money to this Tsunami relief effort then ALL other countries combined, if that's not enough, well TOO fricking bad....

Stingy? Better watch out who you're calling stingy, because if we ever actually become stingy, the world is in DEEP kaka....

Doesn't sting me one bit. What irritates me is the presumtion that I or anyone else should give anything. When I or we do, we are then called stingy because someone doesn't think it was enough. Be happy with what you get is all I say. Sure the government only offered a small amount to begin with but that was on top of all the other support either private monetary or none monetary contributions along with non monetary offerings of our government. Let's put it this way: You get a christmas bonus of $100 but would have liked and felt you deserved alot more. Would you run to your boss and tell him to his face "You stingy b.... I want more!" No you wouldn't because $100 is better than nada, zero, zip zilch. That is the crux of why I started this thread. The world should just be very grateful they have a country like ours that's able to give any kind of support.

Jag, I agree about the whole issue of the government offering any kind of relief fund. It is unconstitutional and is not what was intended by our founding fathers. If the citizens of this country want to support foriegn relief efforts all the more the power to 'em. Our government, which collects this money from it's citizens, should be spent only for them here in this country and not take that tax money abroad.

You neglected one thing I steered everyones attention to in a post previous to this. These are just plegdes put down on paper. Let's see after the year's end what these countries actually paid compared to the government and civilian contributions of the U.S..

But I just can't let you spit BS like that. As of January 4th, this is the stand of the 3 biggest international donations:

- UE, 600 million $.

- Japan, 500 million $.

- USA, 350 million $.

Oh please Nomad....

Give me a break.....

YOu forget about all the charities based in the US, I couldn't care less about the Federal Governments promises, it could be ZERO, and we would still have all the other countries BEAT...

We were the first to have military transport within the disaster area, how much does that cost?

We have how many charities within the disaster area, that are getting HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of private donations?

By the time this is over, the total amount of relief coming from within the United states will easily reach 2 BILLION dollars.

So give it a rest Nomad, NO other country in the world has the amount of charitable contributions that we have, NO OTHER COUNTRY.....

No other country has the economy capable of it.....

We have 20 NAVAL ships already in the region, how much does that cost?

World vision, doctors without borders, AMERICAN Red Cross, etc, etc ad nauseum are ALL there, and ALL are being contributed to via the US citizens.

Take out the ILLEGAL and UNCONSTITUTIONAL contribution by the US FEDERAL government, and the US will still outweigh the international contributions by at least a 2-1 margin....

And no, it isn't a contest, but you started this little party, I'm just telling you that YOU ARE WRONG.... As I usually do....

I've had just about enough of this topic and any other topic that is negative about the USA or any other country. I'm just going to start deleting them. If you want to talk negative about the USA her people or any other country on the Globe then leave. Because if you post it I'll revoke youÔÇÖre posting right as soon as I see it. This is flat sickening!

I have yet to see one post come from you Nomad that was not a jab at America or her people. Is that all you came here for honestly now? Either way stop it now or go elsewhere to cause trouble. This goes for the science forum also either start posting positive stuff or stop posting.

ThatÔÇÖs the last I'm going to say about this my daddyÔÇÖs (nations) better than your daddy garbage if you don't like what I've said here then tuff. If you try to argue with me over this I'll just delete your post and revoke your posting right flat out enough is enough.
