Why is Sgrena being referred to as a Commie?

Italians are the last nation in Europe I'd associate with Communism, right after Germany

The newspaper she works for is a left wing rag, and she writes articles that are about as left leaning as you can go without tipping over.

The woman was on an antiwar propaganda mission in the first place, this just gave her more fodder for her stories and to feed her own innate paranoia.
