High Beam: It was only a matter of time.

quote:

Agence France Press reports that 15 German and four Austrian victims of the Asian tsunami are suing the U.S. government, the Thai government and the French Accor hotel chain in which they were staying at the time of the disaster.

Instead of filing the suit in, say, Thailand, where they were actually vacationing, or Indonesia, where the quake struck, the litigious Europeans found a way to file in a New York district court, where pockets are substantially deeper.

Coincidence? We think not.

The Teutonic litigants are blaming the U.S. ...

Yahoo News: Tsunami victims to sue French hotel chain, Thailand, US forecasters

quote:

"The US government claims 'we are the protectors of the world'. (But) if we know there is a tsunami on its way to wipe out a major population, do we tell them?," asked US lawyer Edward Fagan.

It's statements like that that prove what some here have said, as well as I, we need to knock this stance off pull out everywhere and just concern ourselves with our own problems telling the world "sorry dudes you are on your own from now on".

I first saw this on Fox5 news, a few minutes ago, but they do not have this story posted yet on their site.

Sorry LIS, we will never ever see that happen because; The transnational Corporations, banks, and the people who are getting rich from them will never let that happen. They have infiltrated the government to such an extent that they have control over a massive amount resources. Their intent is not to protect the peoples of the world, they couldn't care less. Their only intent is to protect their investments and swell the bottom line.

Now that the cold war is over and the CIA, under the Nixon Administration pretty much rendered the agency impotent with the Watergate scandal, they have started their own intelligence service.

It's called the National Endowment for Democracy or NED for short. This privately owned organization has grabbed the torch and even as I speak, they are meddling in the affairs of other nations to persuade them to be our friend and allow the aforementioned business entities access to their economies and resources. I'm relatively certain that they have no interest whatsoever in regard to protecting people(the most valuable resource on the planet) The Tsunami may have been viewed as a convenient tool for population control and freed them from coercing another act of genocide. It was good for business too, knowing that everyone would be generous in trying to help the stricken populace. We have already seen the expose's regarding charitable work and how easy it is to skim/scam them for fun and profit.

Mr Fagan's comment hit the nail on the head and he too is being hypocritical about it because he knows full well that, HELL NO! we aren't going to tell them. I use the term "we" very loosely because every one of us who cares for others would warn them of the impending disaster.

So let them have their day in court. I'd bet money that they will lose the case.

1: Yeah, I know.

2: I don't think they do it for fun but for one thing GREED. Gotta grab that money!!

3: Yes, I agree about warning people but we can only do that the best we can and what the other people recieving this information do about it. Right now it's just a legal fishing expedition to see if there is case againt NOAA/U.S.. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.

I've mentioned this in other posts but NY is the capitol of the world for this funny that it's also a Liberal and Democrat strong hold (a correlation?).

LOL! That was hillarious, but they make a good point. If US claims to be the protector of everyone from evil, then if I break my leg, it's us's fault, LOL LOL!..

Ok, nuff joking. It's actually something that isn't even worth an answer. So I guess CNN is doing the right thing by just ignoring it

Posted

It's actually deserves very much attantion. And CNN is not touching it because it will expose europeans to US citizens for what they are, and will turn even the liberals against them...so at the time when the relations are strained and all the lefties screaming for the european acceptance, the liberals in US can't afford to lose their base, and if this article would get a wide spread attention, guess what, even the lefties would recoil and say to hell with europe. And it would also point a finger at what is becoming of US, with all this nonsence going on. That's why it's not getting the attention it needs.

And Doc, if you say the US is the protector, then next time our troops go into your country, don't even dare to scream and yell, just take as is, a protective action, just like it is now in the middle east, alrigh. You can't have it both ways.

MMMmm, nope. No way, no how. Not a chance. I swear.

I shoulda donated to the Tsunami Relief for domesticated animals but I didn't and that's the other thread anyway.

Interesting, I was under the impression CNN actually does make Europeans looke bad in the US.. BTW: How do you define Europeans? As in members of EU or any country from Europe. Because generally speaking it's not the same. Euro countries are not federal states like US states.

And no, I didn't say US was the global protector. The media defined it as such, based on the actions of your administration. So no, I don't want US troops here and yes (protective action or not), I will scream about it if they appear. I'd consider it and incursion into the sovereign territory of my country and basically an act of war, even if my own damn gov't says otherwise. Just as you would and quite rightly so.

I don't believe any country should have this role, both because it's too.. dictatorial as well as not fair to expect of any country to have to take up that kind of responsability. Appart from that, I can't accept authority in this from a country, whose values are a lot different than mine. This always creates unneccessary conflicts.

Cheers,

Doc

hehe, interesting. Actually, that would be a Slavs. Europeans (as in, those who live on the continent of Europe) speak germanic (mostly known as english and german, but not limited to), romanic (Spanish, French, Italian and then some), slavic (most Eastern and Southern part of Europe), as well as a few ancient indiginous languages (like gallic, flamish, rhetoroman, greek) and also ugro-finnish (Finnland and Hungary obviously - which I read was actually an offspring of ancient Mongolian language).

Check out how many lingos just the EU has at www.eu.int and not even all countries are members (only cs, pl, sk and sl are Slave lingos). It's rather scarry, but EU has a way of respecting a members sovereignty. That's why I like it, even though I'm generally opposed to such "super-nation" type of organizations.

Cheers,

Doc

Lets just call that differing pronouns.

I was being more than a little flippant but it is interesting to think about. According to this map on the EU site you linked to there are countries there that I would not consider European but are members of the EU. By the same token there are contries not in the EU that I would definitely consider European.

As far as the lawsuit goes I thinks it's silly.

Which ones? If you are referring to Canaries, Guyane and the like, that's because they are French)

So right now, things are "okay". But if they accept Turkey and I don't know maybe Algeria, it will really become ridiculous.

PM me if you think we went too offtopic
