Jeez, what a joke no wonder identity theft is on the rise.

And there's this:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The financial records of nearly 700,000 customers who used four major banks may have been stolen by bank employees and sold to collection agencies.

Officials said the bank employees accessed records for customers of New Jersey-based Commerce Bank, PNC Bank of Pittsburgh, and North Carolina-based banks Wachovia and Bank of America.

More than 100,000 customers of Wachovia and Bank of America have been notified of the problem.

PNC Bank officials said there's no evidence their customers' accounts have been compromised.

The bank record theft was exposed April 28 when police in Hackensack charged nine people, including seven bank workers, in an alleged plot to steal financial records of thousands of bank customers.

You not only have to worry about lost or hacked data you have to worry about the employee's that work in the banks as well.
