Wolferz Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 There's another laugher. Tne only thing that I know of that promotes violent behaviour is inattentive parents who don't teach a child "Right from wrong" Again, our illustrious legislators have the high and mighty idea that they know what's best for all of us, and again they stomp on the constitution and our rights. The mere mention of the little miscreants in the Columbine tragedy liking certain games, has nothing to do with their cold hearted actions. Children are products of their upbringing and what they have learned and experienced from those around them. So the parents want to cry foul and point their fingers at someone or something else to relieve them of the guilt of their own failure. Pitiful. I have news for them.. "When you point your finger in blame and accusation, there are 3 fingers pointing back at you."
Guest Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 We agree on this 100%. Parents do NOT take the responsibility for their children as they used to. Parents nowadays want their cake and eat it too. They want kids, but are unwilling or unable, depending on how you want to look at it, to actually take the time, the energy, or the wherewithal to actually raise them THe public schools now raise the children, there is no right nor wrong, there are only shades of grey, so the children get no real moral compass to live by. Instincts take over, and the children act upon their feelings, not thinking of the consequences of their actions or what they do to others when they take those actions. When those children do something like Columbine or some other ridiculous and cruel thing, the parents will blame whatever else they can besides themselves. Video games, guns, whatever. It is the PARENTS responsisbility to raise their children, to teach those children right from wrong, and when those parents fail, as they often do, they will blame anything BUT themselves. This is the ME parental generation, and we as a society are damaged because of it. WOW, Wolferz, we agree... If a parents child murders or harms another human being, perhaps the parent ought to go to jail right along with the child. We ought to be blaming the parent, as we used to do, instead of blaming the tool for the crime, or a video game, which is JUST as ridiculous. Parents ought to be taught that THEY will be held responsible for their child, even if they feel that they are not. And punished with the child if the child does something like this.

Crap, they don't teach a damn thing there. It's just a glorified day care and not a very good at that either. Funny, I was scanning the channels last night and came across this think tank on the CUNY channel. It was a discussion with Ken Burns. we all know who Ken Burns is, I hope. I was sitting there listening to all the standard fare questions and answers then this question came up (damn if I can remember the question). His answer was, it's a shame the public shools just don't teach history. Nuff said.
Captain McMahon Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Yeah by the time I was in the 5th grade, I'll just say I hated my life. At 12 years old I hated it, not my life at home, but at school. Heck, school was my life for 12 years. I wasn't the most popular kid who had friends unless they were the guys that picked on me, hit me during school and on the bus and in my own neighborhood. That was my life and the only thing that kept me sane was my family. OG how I hate the public school system.

Otherwise it wouldn't be mandated "by law" to send your children there. Sure, they teach some mandated subjects that every child should learn but, it's those underlying hidden subjects that we should all be taking a closer look at. If parents would pull their kids away from the television and teach them what they need to know, things would change. They don't call it the "Boob Tube" for nothing. It's interesting to note: My High School issued a "Code of Conduct " manual every year. I then saw duplicates of this same manual everytime I started a new job. Corporate Socialist Indoctrination? The incessant message:" Conform Conform Conform" is rampant in society today."Do Not be a free thinker, We will think for you." Sounds alot like the Hegellian ethic to me.... Create a problem or a threat Listen to the cries of the sheople Provide the solution Become a filthy rich tyrant
