ATI Distributing Spurious HL2 Benchmarks

My 9600xt does a pretty decent job with the game. The only issue is my low system memory of 256mb (and bus speed 266mhz) and the AMD 2000xp. That's where I'm getting hit with performance issue. Haven't done any testing myself on actual use but playing the game is fine and that's all that matters to me. But I am sure ATI is over emphasing their cards a bit.
