This now makes it impossible for any other publisher to make a game with REAL teams and players. I know most of you consider sports gaming as no gaming at all, but I enjoy them and this a terrible blow to anyone who played and enjoyed ESPN NFL2K5. I never liked this series until I was forced to buy it after the 800 pound gorilla that is Madden was sold out. I discovered a game with top notch game play & graphics, deep franchise modes, and a reasonable price of 20 bucks. I also bought Madden ( a month later) as well as NCAA 2005 and after playing them three times, exchanged them to Gamestop as quickly as I could. Now faced with a legitimate chalenge for it 's football title for the first time, they in effect create a monopoly by making sure they are literally the only game in town. Guys this sucks soooooo bad I can hardly beleive it. i dont think I can continue to pay for the same game every year with only the roster changing. My God I may even take RPG's to fill the void! EA may well be on its way to destroying the game industry as we know it. In a few years it will be as shitty as the movie industry, putting out sequel after sequel with loud explosions, catch phrases and car chases one right after the other. There goes the neighborhood!

As for the rest of it, it sucks when liscences are bought like this, especially when it means that NO ONE ELSE can develop with the same stuff. I wonder if this could be considered a Monopoly, and EA could get into another fight about it. Is it even right to purchase anything from NFL in IP and rights in teh first place? Kevin Trotter Posted December 17, 2004 Author Report Posted December 17, 2004 You're damn tootin' a slump is coming. The price of ESPN 2k5 is now 49.95? Are you sure about that? 2K5 is a 19.95$ title and that is waht I liked and was referring to.

Don't they have to get rights from the player's union to be able to use specific names of players? or is this a lump sum deal now? anyways, you will be able to edit the names of the "fictitious" teams to that of real teams.

The deal was with both the NFL and the NFLPA. So EA has exclusive rights to the team names/logos and all the players.
