PRINCE OF PERSIA MOVIE IN THE PIPELINE

Jerry Bruckheimer Films in negotiations to bring the Prince on to the silver screen

It certainly appears to be the day for videogame to movie adaptations; having recently discovered that the rights to ÔÇÿSoul CaliburÔÇÖ have been snapped up, Variety is today claiming that Jerry Bruckheimer Films is negotiating a seven-figure deal to acquire the rights for UbisoftÔÇÖs ÔÇÿPrince of Persia: Sands of TimeÔÇÖ.

Specific details are hard to come by, however itÔÇÖs believed that the agreement includes a script being penned by the games creator Jordan Mechner.

Whilst videogame fanatics will likely scoff at the thought of yet another disastrous movie adaptation, it should be noted that both ÔÇÿSoul CaliburÔÇÖ and ÔÇÿPrince of PersiaÔÇÖ have been acquired by more reputable movie companies then the typical indie firms associated with the likes of ÔÇÿThe House of the DeadÔÇÖ; particularly with Bruckheimer behind the wheel, we can expect an action extravaganza to rival the Hollywood blockbusters.

Hmm, I think I'll wait to see how Hollywood deals with this new era of game to movie adaption. I just hope it's not a CGI fest. I really liked the Resident Series of movies.
