Guest Steve Link Posted March 18, 2001 Report Posted March 18, 2001 I'm leaning towards a GALCOM fleet and Orion fleet in particular, but I could be talked into something else if there is a huge disparity in membership somewhere. Say if there was a plethora of GALCOMies, and not so many within the Insurgency, I might throw my hat in with the rebels. Of course I'd have to work on my evil laugh and revolutionary rhetoric, but I'm sure I'd manage Seriously, if such is the case, it might help my decision if someone could point me to a thread that goes into the insurgency manifesto in detail. Being able to identify with a side helps my RP imensely. As it is a GALCOM career would be a better fit for me. Though I think I can spout melodramatic cliches with the best of them if I have too.If multiplayer comes into the picture I have a preference for a cruiser skipper's slot, though if needed I'm willing to consider being a fighter jock or even a groundpounder. I should warn you that I'm one of those poor sots who suffers from nausea if I play some FPS games for too long. I have no way of knowing whether BCM will affect me this way or not. (outside enviroments seem to be better than interiors). I consider myself a team player, and I have no problem with adopting a support role, if say you needed a freighter skipper for logistics.Anyway I look forward to hearing your oppinions on the matter. sincerely, Steve Link
Blades Posted March 18, 2001 Report Posted March 18, 2001 Well, if you're a team player and already have leanings towards the Orion Fleet, I think you've already made up your mind. What you probably need is an encouraging push in the right direction. You'll find it at www.orionfleet.com - be sure to check out the comms forum.Things in Orion are a little different from other fleets. For starters, everyone pulls their weight. You do your bit, you will prosper. You dont, and your history. Simple as. Doing your bit could mean many things. To start with you will spend some time in the ACADEMY where you will learn what it is to be an Orion Fleet Officer. Please ignore Aramikes soon to be posted comments on this. Once you've graduated from the ACADEMY, you will recieve your posting to the Battle Group OR support force you are leaning towards. Before that time, Commandant Badger and the intended Battle Group Commander will instruct you in many things that you will need to survive and prosper both as a BCM player and an ELITE Officer in the fleet. The Orion Fleet isnt just about being able to kill the bad guys and win the girl, it's about discipline, respect, honor and duty. We take these things very seriously, and have invested a lot of time, effort and money into recruiting and training the most promising candidates in the community.Step up and be counted if you think you've got what it takes to be one of the best. Step back and think again if you dont.------------------ Fleet Cmdr. Karl Savage GCV - Tsunami, Orion Starstation (CENTRIS) Fleet Leader, ORION FLEET www.orionfleet.com'Here cometh the storm!'
Eclipse Posted March 18, 2001 Report Posted March 18, 2001 well it's some thing like 100 commies to 40 insurgents, so I'd say there is a big disparity Look through the Fleet FAQ on the fleets sectopn of 3000ad.com it'll give you some good info. Also we aren't the bad guys. *rant* join the Insurgency! *rant off*------------------ Commodore Kyle Antilles ICV-Eclipse, Destiny Starstation (Nevuela) Commanding Officer, Destiny Spectre Fleet External Beta Tester Battlecruiser Millennium"You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
Guest Posted March 18, 2001 Report Posted March 18, 2001 Considering the Insurgency is a band of disgruntled humans and Galcom is a multi-racial force, i'd say the insurgents have way too many troops now. IMO, As insurgents you should be outgunned and outnumbered vs Galcom, that's the thrill of being a tar.. err Insurgent.Steve, each fleet has links to their own pages, each fleet has its own niche in the game. Go through the Fleet FAQ, fleet pages and forums. When you decide, announce it and join the fray.Cheers!------------------ Fleet Commander Tac GCV Usagi, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Fleet Leader - Wraith Fleet http://www.crosswinds.net/~wraithfleethq/index.html Fast, Furious...FIRST!" aramike Posted March 18, 2001 Report Posted March 18, 2001 quote:IMO, As insurgents you should be outgunned and outnumbered vs Galcom, that's the thrill of being a tar.. err Insurgent. Not really. Read the manual. It says that the Insurgents are growing. BCM takes place at a later time than BC3K, so it makes sense that the Insurgents would be a larger force. Also, considering that we were given 4 fleets rather than 1 (as before), it seems as though Derek has decided upon making the Insurgency stronger. But, we still need more members.Steve, take a look at www.3000ad.com/fleets/db/ . It will show you the disparity. However, do NOT join the Insurgents simply because of that. We only WANT you if you join because of our cause and fight - we don't just need people to "balance things out". That would make you a merc of sorts. We need REAL Insurgents.------------------ Vice Admiral Michael Kristophers ICV-Intrepid, Spectre (Antis) Fleet Leader Spectre Fleet "You can only love or hate something you truly understand." Whisper Posted March 19, 2001 Report Posted March 19, 2001 Of course, with the Insurgents, they only have the goal of wresting Earth with military force. While on the other hand, Galcom is helping to liberate truly repressed people all over the galaxy, stopping the Gammulan horde from enslaving every known sentient being...that sort of thing. Plus, in GCO, Galcom has way more resources, trade lines, and allies, meaning exploring the galaxy is a viable option, while the Insurgents are more or less on their own. Then there's the Independant Trader, friend to all, loyalty to none, looking for the fast buck. Given all the options, I made a hard choice (but I like it!):------------------ Commander David "Whipser" Liev GCV Bold Voyager, WRAITH HQ(LYRIUS) Leader- Wraith Fleet/Wraith Fighter Command "The underestimated weapon will deal overestimated havoc." http://www.geocities.com/cmdliev/flightroster.htmlExternal Beta Tester Battlecruiser Millennium
Guest Steve Link Posted March 19, 2001 Report Posted March 19, 2001 Ok, I've made up my mind, and I will indeed be submitting my application to the Orion Fleet Academy. Thanks for all the responses guys.Aramike, understand that had I joined the Insurgency, I would have given it my all, and not just been filling up the ranks. I just needed to realize what was most important to me. As of right now I have nothing invested yet with any side, which is why allowed my sense of fair play to cloud a decision, that because of the difficulty in changing it, should only be made on a personal basis. Thanks again. Steve Link
