Ben Zwycky Posted April 20, 2000 Report Posted April 20, 2000 [rp]1430 March 15, 3008BenÔÇÖs intercom beeped.ÔÇ£Yes, what is it Emily?ÔÇØÔÇ£Accommodation for the crew of the Conquest for the next two days has been arranged on level 8, sections 3-4, with room available for two guests per crewmember if requested. The accommodation is available for up to a week if necessary, any longer and further arrangements would have to be made.ÔÇØÔÇ£All 116 of them?ÔÇØÔÇ£Plus two guests each if requested. Three at a squeeze.ÔÇØÔÇ£Thank you Emily. Well done.ÔÇØÔÇ£That was quick. SheÔÇÖs good,ÔÇØ commented Josh, very impressed, as was Commander Jamont. ÔÇ£I wonder-ÔÇØBenÔÇÖs intercom buzzed again, interrupting him.ÔÇ£Oh, sorry, I thought the line was still open. Cmdr. DilvornÔÇÖs T3 shuttle is fuelled and ready, in docking bay 2, port 5.ÔÇØÔÇ£ThatÔÇÖs OK, Emily. Good work.ÔÇØJosh puffed his cheeks and smiled, ÔÇ£Very good.ÔÇØÔÇ£How do you think she got this high up?ÔÇØÔÇ£Wow, looks, brains and service. Quite a prize you have there, Ben.ÔÇØ Commented Josh with a grin.ÔÇ£Not what I expected, no.ÔÇØ Ben replied thoughtfully.ÔÇ£Well, IÔÇÖd better see to my crew.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK, Josh, see you tomorrow.ÔÇØÔÇ£Bye, Josh.ÔÇØÔÇ£See you tomorrow, guys.ÔÇØBen and Nick watched Josh leave the office, then Nick turned to the two figures at the console.ÔÇ£OK, gentlemen. We really need to try and determine what this mole is after. Is there anything you can do to determine what areas of the system theyÔÇÖve had access to?ÔÇØÔÇ£Not really. Whoever this guy is, heÔÇÖs pretty thorough in covering his tracks. From the residual traces of the logs we can give you a reasonable guess as to what general area of the system the log corresponded to, but even then itÔÇÖs only a balance of probabilities, and hardly reliable to follow up on.ÔÇØÔÇ£Well, what can you tell? Give me something.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK, but donÔÇÖt rely on this- a couple of the accesses were probably to either the personnel or admin sections, and a couple to the fleet movement/flightplan section. Any more than that is pure guesswork, and even that isnÔÇÖt certain.ÔÇØÔÇ£Not much to go on, really. Right, how about weaknesses in our security and admin? Give me a rundown on the weak areas and important information storage areas, and where they overlap.ÔÇØÔÇ£ThatÔÇÖll take a couple of hours to put together. You got that long?ÔÇØThe prospect of waiting that long suddenly made Ben feel tired. He surprised himself with a yawn.ÔÇ£Whoa, I didnÔÇÖt realise I was this tired. Looks like IÔÇÖm still not used to sleeping in a docked ship. OK, let me know what you find tomorrow. Thanks, guys. Nick, you staying?ÔÇØÔÇ£IÔÇÖd better be off as well now. My crewÔÇÖll be wondering where IÔÇÖve been.ÔÇØBen shook his head in an attempt to clear it and went over to the drinks dispenser. He pressed the button for orange juice, but nothing came out. Confused, he tried again. Nothing.ÔÇ£Bah,ÔÇØ he muttered resignedly under his breath, ÔÇ£time to get home.ÔÇØHe picked up his jacket and left the office. Walking past Miss CartwrightÔÇÖs desk, he stopped.ÔÇ£Oh, the drinks dispenser is out of orange juice, and probably low on water, too.ÔÇØÔÇ£No problem, IÔÇÖll get some more in within about half an hour.ÔÇØÔÇ£Oh, no rush. IÔÇÖm pretty tired now, IÔÇÖm heading back to my ship.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK, Good night, then.ÔÇØÔÇ£That was very good work today, Emily.ÔÇØShe looked down and smiled slightly embarrasedly, ÔÇ£ItÔÇÖs just my job- I enjoy it.ÔÇØÔÇ£Well, I want you to know that I appreciate the work you do.ÔÇØHer embarrassed smile grew a little, ÔÇ£Thanks.ÔÇØ She then looked up ÔÇ£OK, then I want you to know that I appreciate being appreciated.ÔÇØSmiles were exchanged.ÔÇ£OK, Emily, IÔÇÖll see you tomorrow.ÔÇØÔÇ£Right, bye.ÔÇØ 0415 March 15, 3008Ben was woken by a priority broadcast direct to his quarters from Fleet Commander RistarÔÇÖs Office. He got up and activated his comms screen. An unfamiliar female ensign appeared in 3 dimensions in front of him. He instinctively covered himself up, and askedÔÇ£Zwycky here. WhatÔÇÖs going on?ÔÇØÔÇ£Fleet Commander Ristar would like a briefing on developments in the Gammulan quadrant.ÔÇØÔÇ£Now?ÔÇØÔÇ£As soon as possible.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK, IÔÇÖm on it.ÔÇØBen quickly washed his face and took several long drinks of water before sitting down and beginning to collate the info from his various sources. Pretty quickly he realised what was going on.ÔÇ£This is not goodÔǪÔÇØ0900 March 15, 3008Ben arrived at his office on the dot of nine oÔÇÖclock, and was greeted with a smile and a chirpy ÔÇÿHelloÔÇÖ by Miss Cartwright, who was dressed rather differently from the previous day. Instead of a business suit, she was wearing a light summery dress covered in flowers that, while not revealing, didnÔÇÖt exactly hide her shape. Ben was surprised and slightly distracted by this, but made no comment about it and headed into his office. As he reached the door he became aware of a subtle fragrance in the air. It was sweet, and quite pleasant. He was confused for a second as to its source, then he looked at Emily. She smiled, and he realised that it was her perfume. ÔÇÿOh dear,ÔÇÖ he thought, and then entered his office.No-one else had arrived yet. ÔÇÿBriggs and Elworthy must have been working late. Oh well, IÔÇÖd better say something now while IÔÇÖve got the time.ÔÇÖÔÇ£Emily, could you come in here, please.ÔÇØShe entered the office happily and expectantly, ÔÇ£Yes, Ben, what can I do for you?ÔÇØÔÇ£Umm, well, IÔÇÖm not sure how to say this, butÔǪÔÇØHer expression grew slightly puzzled. ÔÇ£What?ÔÇØÔÇ£Umm, IÔÇÖm not sure that that is entirely appropriate dress for the office.ÔÇØHer expression became a lot more puzzled and slightly hurt. ÔÇ£Why? WhatÔÇÖs wrong with it?ÔÇØÔÇ£Umm, well, itÔÇÖs a bit distra-, I mean itÔÇÖs not, itÔÇÖs not exactly businesslike.ÔÇØÔÇ£What? You want me to go home and change?ÔÇØ She said, with a hint of anger in her voice.Ben suddenly found himself on the defensive, ÔÇ£No, itÔÇÖs OK, just tomorrow, OK?ÔÇØÔÇ£Hmph.ÔÇØ She said half-indignantly, and turned and marched out of the door.About ten minutes later, Briggs and Elworthy arrived, shortly followed by Commanders Jamont and Dilvorn.ÔÇ£WhatÔÇÖs up with her? She seemed pretty uptight.ÔÇØÔÇ£It doesnÔÇÖt matter. What did you find?ÔÇØÔÇ£Well,ÔÇØ said Elworthy, moving over to the console, and bringing up a table of results, ÔÇ£we found a lot of personal itinerary files were insecure, as well as a few lapses in security in the personnel file storage. A couple of intelligence briefings were misfiled, and probably insecure, but they werenÔÇÖt core documents. The most worrying system was the fleet movementsÔÇÖ logs. That systemÔÇÖs access program has become corrupted, so virtually anyone could have had access to a pretty up-to-date record of the fleetÔÇÖs movements over the past month.ÔÇØÔÇ£This is not encouraging,ÔÇØ said Nick. ÔÇ£It doesnÔÇÖt really cut down the possibilities that much. Itineraries can be used in plotting assassinations, personnel files maybe for extortion, intelligence and fleet movements are useful in planning military assaults. Whichever one of these it is, or however many of these it is theyÔÇÖre after, itÔÇÖs not good news.ÔÇØÔÇ£ThatÔÇÖs for sure,ÔÇØ agreed Josh.ÔÇ£We have another factor to throw into the equation. The gammulans are on the offensive.ÔÇØThere was a shocked silence from everyone else in the room. Ben continued ÔÇ£So this guy could be a gammulan operative looking for weaknesses in our defences for another backdoor assault.ÔÇØÔÇ£So what are our orders?ÔÇØÔÇ£Up the patrols of Vesperon space, go to full battle alert, and try to find this mole as quickly as possible. The patrols have already been strengthened.ÔÇØÔÇ£So weÔÇÖve got to catch this guy as quick as we can. HowÔÇÖs RonÔÇÖs surveillance operation going?ÔÇØÔÇ£Well, the Dark Sun will be arriving just after noon, maybe 1300. HeÔÇÖs been getting his team together for the other device plants.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK, let me know when that gets rolling. How are our new security measures?ÔÇØÔÇ£About as tight as can be with this system. What weÔÇÖve done is thisÔǪÔÇØ1240 March 15, 3008ÔÇ£OK, guys, IÔÇÖm going to go grab something to eat. See you in about half an hour.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK, later.ÔÇØ He walked past EmilyÔÇÖs desk to find she wasnÔÇÖt there. There was a little note on her computer screen.Gone to lunch. Back at 1300Ben sighed and carried on through the double doors. The walk to the canteen was uneventful. Ben grabbed some stuff he barely recognised from the counter and sat down to eat at a table for two. As he began, he noticed Emily was sitting on her own two tables away, slowly eating her food and staring into space, looking forlorn.ÔÇÿIÔÇÖve messed this up, havenÔÇÖt I?ÔÇÖ he thought to himself. ÔÇÿMaybe I can still rescue the situation.ÔÇÖHe tried to catch her attention with some subtle hand movements. It didnÔÇÖt work. He tried saying her name. She didnÔÇÖt seem to hear. He raised his voice slightly, and a few heads turned from nearby tables.ÔÇ£Emily.ÔÇØShe started, and looked up at him. He motioned to the chair opposite him. She pointed to herself and mouthed ÔÇ£Me?ÔÇØ in mock surprise. ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm sorry,ÔÇØ Ben mouthed in reply. ÔÇ£OK,ÔÇØ she mouthed, unable to contain her smile anymore. She picked up her tray and walked slowly over to his table, enabling him to see her entire figure as she approached. She put her tray down and moved the chair round next to him before she sat down. Ben was slightly taken aback by this, but told himself ÔÇÿHave to make an effort to be friendly here. DonÔÇÖt want to make things even more difficult.ÔÇÖ As she sat down, her fragrance became more powerful. It was very sweet. Almost intoxicating, without being unpleasant.ÔÇ£Hi.ÔÇØÔÇ£Hi.ÔÇØÔÇ£IÔÇÖm sorry, I was being oversensitive. ItÔÇÖs really not that bad.ÔÇØShe looked down at her dress and then back up at Ben ÔÇ£You like it? I donÔÇÖt have to change?ÔÇØÔÇ£No, IÔÇÖm sorry, I shouldnÔÇÖt have said that. It was out of place.ÔÇØÔÇ£ThatÔÇÖs OK, I forgive you, this time,ÔÇØ she said with a wag of her finger and a grin.ÔÇ£Thanks.ÔÇØ Ben downed his drink.ÔÇ£You sure do drink a lot of orange juice,ÔÇØ she commented.ÔÇ£It wakes me up, and itÔÇÖs pretty healthy. I much prefer it fresh to this concentrated stuff when I can get it.ÔÇØÔÇ£Oh, then IÔÇÖm sorry about the drinks dispenser. All the drinks are pretty concentrated.ÔÇØÔÇ£ThatÔÇÖs OK, I just dilute it down and itÔÇÖs not too bad.ÔÇØÔÇ£ItÔÇÖs so nice to have someone to talk to in the office. Everyone else is just so stuffy.ÔÇØÔÇ£Yeah, I suppose theyÔÇÖre mostly in their fifties high up in admin.ÔÇØÔÇ£At least.ÔÇØÔÇ£How old are you, if that isnÔÇÖt a rude question?ÔÇØÔÇ£ItÔÇÖs OK. IÔÇÖm 30 in three weeks. How about you?ÔÇØÔÇ£Whoa, the big one. IÔÇÖm 35.ÔÇØÔÇ£Hmm. I would have guessed 30, 32 tops.ÔÇØÔÇ£Thanks,ÔÇØ Ben replied, finishing off the last of his lunch. ÔÇ£Well, IÔÇÖd better get back to work. Lots to do today. See you back there.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK, IÔÇÖll be right behind you.ÔÇØBen and Emily got back to the office at 1258, Just in time to see Josh and Nick leaving for their lunch.ÔÇ£Briggs and Elworthy will get you up to date.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK.ÔÇØAs Ben entered his office, David Briggs turned in his chair and greeted him.ÔÇ£Afternoon, chief.ÔÇØÔÇ£So whatÔÇÖs happened while I was away?ÔÇØÔÇ£We got a message from Ron, saying weÔÇÖll have to put our little operation back until after 1800 hours, when the maintenance shift changes, and weÔÇÖre done transferring the Ventriloquist to Cmdr. TringadÔÇÖs ship, and training Ran in itÔÇÖs use.ÔÇØÔÇ£Good work, lads. Right, what we need now is a rundown on the profiles of our chief suspects, to see if thereÔÇÖs anything that seems out of place.ÔÇØOver the next few hours, BenÔÇÖs ability to concentrate was hampered by tiredness, a slowly worsening headache, and concerns about Emily and her intentions towards him.1832 March 15, 3008ÔÇ£Secure Comms Message from Commander Ryker,ÔÇØ reported Emily.ÔÇ£Patch it through.ÔÇØÔÇ£Ben, It is Ryker. ÔÇ£Ok, commander IÔÇÖll let you know when the teams have started working on our project. Ryker out.ÔÇØBen rubbed his eyes. He was very tired. Briggs noticed.ÔÇ£You OK, Ben?ÔÇØÔÇ£IÔÇÖm just going to have a lie down for a while. ItÔÇÖs been a long day.ÔÇØÔÇ£We can hook this up in Commander RykerÔÇÖs office and carry on there, if you need some peace and quiet.ÔÇØÔÇ£Thanks, guys, thatÔÇÖd help.ÔÇØHe pressed the intercom button, ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm just having a lie down, Emily. I donÔÇÖt want to be disturbed for the next couple of hours.ÔÇØÔÇ£OK.ÔÇØBen lay down on the couch and his eyes gradually sank closed. 2148 March 15, 3008It was a nice dream. Ben was lying by the side of a still lake surrounded by beautiful mountains on a gently sloping field, with the love of his life in his arms, asleep. All was peaceful, all was well. He gave her a gentle squeeze. The contented ÔÇ£HmmmmmÔǪÔÇØ was so loud and so close that BenÔÇÖs eyes flicked open. The sweet smell was slightly spicy, very strong, and almost overwhelming. He was still in his office, lying on his couch. Emily was lying next to him, with her back to him, in his arms. They were both fully clothed, except for their shoes. She was gently holding on to both his forearms, making sure they were both wrapped tightly around her. She seemed to be asleep.Ben tried to release his embrace. She gave a small whimper and held on to his arms. He paused, then with a bit more effort he managed to free them. He tried to get up but found his head was swimming and his headache was really pounding.ÔÇ£DonÔÇÖt go,ÔÇØ she said gently, and he stopped for a second, almost won over.ÔÇ£No, this isnÔÇÖt what I want,ÔÇØ he replied with new found determination, and struggled to his feet, steadying himself on the back of the couch. His balance was still very unsure. He sat down in the chair by his desk and turned to face her. She looked up at him.ÔÇ£What were you doing?ÔÇØ he asked incredulously. ÔÇ£You looked so sweet and lonely lying there, I couldnÔÇÖt help myself.ÔÇØ She looked down at the floor, ÔÇ£I thought you liked me.ÔÇØBen clasped on to his forehead with one hand and grimaced as there was a surge of pain in his head. ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm sorry, I didnÔÇÖt mean to give that impression. YouÔÇÖre a very nice girl, but I donÔÇÖt want to start a relationship with you. I hardly know you.ÔÇØShe looked ashamed of herself, ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm sorry. IÔÇÖve never known anyone like you before. I didnÔÇÖt know what to do. IÔÇÖve messed up badly, havenÔÇÖt I?ÔÇØÔÇ£Not a very good start, no.ÔÇØÔÇ£Can we still be friends?ÔÇØÔÇ£ItÔÇÖll be more difficult now, but IÔÇÖll give it a try.ÔÇØÔÇ£Thank you. IÔÇÖll try to be more careful.ÔÇØThere was a pause.ÔÇ£So what do we do now?ÔÇØ she asked.Ben stood shakily and looked for his shoes. ÔÇ£AahÔÇØ, he gasped as another wave of pain crashed through his mind, ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm going to go back to my ship and get this headache seen to, then IÔÇÖm going to get some sleep.ÔÇØEmily retrieved BenÔÇÖ shoes from underneath the couch and handed them to him. ÔÇ£Do you want some help getting back to your ship? You donÔÇÖt look too good.ÔÇØÔÇ£No, no. IÔÇÖll be OK. The exercise will do me some good.ÔÇØWith that he left the office and headed back to his ship. His headache cleared slightly as he progressed through the station corridors, but it was still distracting. After heading to the Medibay, performing a cuople of tests and receiving a hypospray, he stumbled to his quarters and collapsed into his bunk [/rp]*Phhheew* Right, IÔÇÖve caught up. Ben Somerset Posted April 22, 2000 Report Posted April 22, 2000 While some search for moles, others of us have a war to fight! [RP]1850, March 15, 3008 Lydon, Krynan GCV SwiftsureIt hadn't even been 30 minutes, and the fighting was beginning to let up. The Gammulans had made a rather large mistake in sending troops aboard the Wraith ships. Though under normal circumstances, they may have made a decent setback. This time, they accomplished little. What the Gamms didn't realize was that most of the Wraith ships present were involved in the evacuation of Wrath SS, and that meant extra personnel aboard. And not just extra crew, but extra Marines as well. Most ships had a bloated Marine complement equaling 2 or more times the normal Marine complement carried aboard a starship. Their mistake. The Mandorians had not fared as well as the Wraith ships had with the boarding assault. Many ships were damaged, and forced to disengage from the fight. Even more were destroyed by the heavy internal fighting. This time however, the combined Fleet had managed to stand their ground. Where are those damn Kandorians? Somerset asked himself. He only hoped they would join the fighting soon.Soran returned him to reality as he said "New enemy vessels, bearing 018, mark 021. They are headed toward the Event Horizon. Weapons range in 38 seconds."Somerset glanced at his holo-TacOps, and gave his ordered "New Squadron course, 218, mark 105, full impulse. Prepare for a full missile spread at the enemy vessels. We've got to let that ship get clear!" Swiftsure covered the Event Horizon to safety as the next round of assaults began. The Battle of Lydon continued. For how long, neither side knew.[/RP]------------------ Cmdr. Gallion Posted April 25, 2000 Author Report Posted April 25, 2000 [rp]1828, March 15, 3008 LV-103, Alpha CygniThe range between the hunter and prey had dwindled to almost 30km when the hunter's revile was interrupted by the shrill call from the communications station, "Commander, incoming message fromÔǪ"Another shrill erupted from the Tactical Station at the same time, "Commander, The IFF Transponder code emissions from the transport have changed. They are now emitting GALCOM IFF Codes.""ÔǪGunney York from the transport," the communications officer continued, "You had better listen to this Commander."The hunter listened and watched the tactical drama change from his perch on the bridge of the GCV Graf Spee. For once again, a prey has seemed to elude his talons and grasp. The incoming communiqu├® from Gunney York was quite disturbing and caused his to disengage weapons systems but maintained target lack on the hapless Transport. The Gunney's message was quick, concise and to the point. Six casualties -all terminal, none wounded. Necessary items have been located and secured. They were almost ready to beam back aboard the Graf Spee but there was this one catch, there are Dragons aboard the transport.Murphy in his ever-divine wisdom had struck again for once again the Graf Spee has boarded the vessels in which Commander Alun Tringad happened to be in command of. History has repeated itself. Where it goes now it up to Murphy and InSh'Alla1848, March 15, 3008 Lydan, KrynonActivity on the target intensified as the GCV Shogun's crew recovered from the initial onslaught of the Gammulan Warrior invasion. Several of the crew, system and flight engineers were among the casualties as was several of the battlcruiser's Marine compliment. Hari had no trouble slipping in amongst the crew as he found, removed and put-on the uniform of a system engineer crewmember. He looked carefully around his immediate area, finding no life forms or other surveillance devices he accessed a conveniently located dataport. Quickly he hacked into the Shogun's computer systems and inserted his new identity in the various ship databases. Just as he completed this a wildly firing Gammulan Warrior fleeing down the passageway from some hard charging Marines attacked him. One laser bolt managed to ricochet off the bulkhead and catch Hari in the upper part of his right chest, barely missing the lung, heart, and artery, spinning him around and causing him to slam into the bulkhead face-first, knocking himself out cold.Meanwhile the Marines finally terminated all the invading Gammulan Warriors. They took no prisoners and showed no mercy. Several wounded Gammulan Warriors had their brains blow apart by the Marines checking for any live ones. War is hell, especially when a Dragon is about.1850, March 15, 3008 Lydan, KrynonThe four-ship squadron of two Terran/Mercenary and Two Zelon/Assassin warships were the center of attention of a slewful of Gammulan warships. The Gammulan bloodlust had boiled to the breaking point, there could or would not be any holding back. If a warship was not emitting a Gammulan IFF Code, it was deemed fair game. One by one, the four-merc/assassin warships were destroyed by the Gammulan warships, until they were all destroyed. There was no fighting over the resulting flotsam of four warships by the Gammulans. They just shifted their sights of an almost helpless EarthCom Battlecruiser. One that had destroyed two Gammulan Warships and severely damaged a third when it jettisoned its reactor core.1853, March 15, 3008 Lydan, KrynonMor-D'r was somewhat worried even though the latest offensive was going well. Several Gammulan Warships were either destroyed or damaged. Many Wraiths and a plethora of Mandorian warships were destroyed. There would be no disabling of these vessels. The standing orders within the fleet was destroy all - take no prisoners and do not let a single Wraith or Mandorian warships remain intact to either fight or emit an SOS signal.Something was not entirely right, that is what worried Mor-D'r the most. There were to many things popping up and surprising him and the rest of the Gammulan Commanders. He knew that a plan, any plan, was only good until first contact with the enemy. After that, with any luck the plan would proceed without to many unforeseen instances. For reasons unknown, Mor-D'r had a bad feeling about this latest offensive. Something in the back of his head kept telling him, danger, danger, and to expect the completely unexpected and unforeseen. Mor-D'r had a premonition that something was about to happen and to happen very bloody soonÔǪ TTFN [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 04-25-2000).]
Ben Zwycky Posted April 25, 2000 Report Posted April 25, 2000 Sorry, Gallion, I was just trying to get all that out of the way. I have left a big gap there where my memory was pretty blurred, so the other guys, Nick, Rod, Josh, can write about what they've got up to and found in that period. A lot can happen in that time, guys (from about 1300 to 1800, and from 1850 onwards, you just can't involve me that much, or if you do from 1300 to 1800, I'll be a bit distracted or incoherent). Guest Cmdr Josh Dilvorn Posted April 25, 2000 Report Posted April 25, 2000 1247 March 15, 3008Edward Young, the Conquest's navigation officer entered Renegade's cafeteria accompanied by two flight engineers. They sat at a table in the centre of the cafeteria and began chatting away about flight dynamics. Then had not been talking long when Blake, one of the flight engineers interrupted the conversation, "Hey, isn't that Cmdr Ben Zwycky over there?" "I think so. Who's the chick? His girlfriend?" Young chimed in, "Nope, that's his secretary. They must be having a business lunch." "They look a bit too chummy for it to be a business lunch." commented one of the flight engineers. The sound of the secretary's laughter seemed somehow to confirm this. "Enough of this guys, lets get back to what we were talking about."As Young finished his lunch and continued chatting to his companions he discreetly watched the couple on the other side of the cafeteria. After a short while he saw Cmdr Zwycky stand from the table and leave, followed moments after by the secretary. 1431 March 15, 3008Closing the door to Zwycky's office Dilvorn briefly glanced over to the secretary, he couldn't help but notice the dress that she was wearing and the subtle hint of her sweet perfume. As he left the reception area, Dilvorn shook his head. Glad that he didn't have a distraction like that to deal with every day. He pulled out his commlink and opened a channel to Ens Edward Young; "Ensign Young, meet me in docking bay two in five minutes." "Acknowledged, sir. Anything else?" came the reply. "Yes ensign, while you are waiting, could you contact Lt Peale and get her to inform the crew that accommodation has been arranged on level 8 in sections 3 and 4." "Aye, sir."Not long after, Dilvorn and Young were seated in the cockpit of the T3 shuttle performing the preflight procedures. Dilvorn's console beeped to indicate that the power levels were optimal. He then keyed into the commlink computer, opening a channel to the dock master, "T3 Alpha-9-4 requesting departure clearance. Authorisation Dilvorn-Gamma-7." After a short pause the reply came, "T3 Alpha-9-4 you are cleared to depart on departure course seven." Dilvorn closed the commlink channel, "Clear all moorings." "Aye sir, airlock disconnected. Docking tractors are clear." replied Young. "Lay in course 247 mark 3. Thrusters at three quarters power." "Acknowledged sir."Slowly the small shuttle pulled away from the docking port and headed out of the station. When it was clear, the craft engaged it's hyperdrive and disappeared into a flash of light heading for the Pluto jumpgate. 0510 March 16, 3008Upon arriving back from the Pluto region, Dilvorn headed for the Dark Sun. He wanted to check on the progress of the ship's overhaul.Stepping onto the ship he used the computer to locate the engineering team and then set off to meet with them.As he approached the team, one of the men stopped working and walked over to Dilvorn and saluted, "Petty Officer 1st Class Wilkinson, sir." "At ease Wilkinson. What is the status of the overhaul?" "Sir, all major systems have been brought up to the latest GALCOM specs..." "ThatÔÇÖs good to hear." Dilvorn was detecting a but coming on. "...however, sir, the increased speed of the newer systems has increased the load on the data relays throughout the ship." "This was to be expected, but shouldn't they be able to handle it?" "Well sir, under normal circumstances the data relays perform load-balancing routines to spread the load over several of the main hubs. But some of these relays were deliberately isolated which means that the load balancing wasn't as effective as it should have been, and..." "Yes?" The commander didn't really need to hear this, it had been a long day and he was tired. Not to mention the headache he'd had all afternoon. "...and, well, sir, some of the hubs burned out as a result. So now we are in the process of replacing all of the relays and hubs with higher capacity ones." "How long?" "4 hours, tops." "Very well, contact me when you have finished." "Aye sir."As Dilvorn entered his temporary quarters he looked around thinking that his stateroom on the Conquest was much bigger than this. Before climbing into bed Dilvorn spoke, "Computer, configure environmental settings to GALCOM-56981." The computer beeped in acknowledgment. Immediately dimming the lighting slightly and increasing the temperature 2 degrees. "Computer, set persistent wake-up alarm for 0900 hours." And with that Dilvorn climbed into bed. Before drifting off to sleep, it occured to him that he should discuss the isolated data relays on the Dark Sun with Cmdr Zwycky. Tommorow. He then drifted off to sleep. ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest ISS06 Defense Wing Commander - ISS Fleet ISS Homepage GCV Conquest Home[This message has been edited by Cmdr Josh Dilvorn (edited 04-25-2000).]

Gallion Posted April 26, 2000 Author Report Posted April 26, 2000 [rp]1845, March 15, 3008 LV-103, Alpha CygniThe distance between the GCV Graf Spee and the former Gammulan transport was now minimal, only 700 meters separated the two spacecraft. The commanders of the two vessels had exchanged somewhat tense and terse pleasantries. Both of them were perturbed over the hand that fate had dealt them this day; one for having his ship boarded and the other for boarding a friendly vessel.Gallion checked in with Dragon Central and was somewhat surprised with what he found. Once again, the Dragon was on the move and once again, he had fell into its tendrils, unbeknowest to himself or to Commander Tringad. Gunney York and the surviving Marines had returned to the Graf Spee with the parts and equipment necessary to completing repairs to the battered battlecruiser. Commander Alun Tringad was not pleased but he had reluctantly agreed to it Losing equipment and boarded by friendly forces was not the only thing that raised the ISS Commander's ire. His mission in LV-103 was now in jeopardy.Gallion took all this in and then got a wild hair up his arse. He opened a comm-channel with Commander Tringad."Alun," the Corsair began, "it seems that we are both in a dilemma here. Mine is a broke ship, though repairable, and yours is that your mission may have been compromised. Albeit non-intentionally by me and mine." Anger began to show on Tringad's face as Gallion talked to him. He was about to respond with his own tirade when the Corsair cut him off and continued with his discourse."Mayhaps this can be salvaged," the eccentric Corsair began, "but for this to happen I needs to know one thing - how did you manage to change your IFF Transponder Code to emit Gammulan Codes?"Tringad, ever reserved when ever he had to deal with the unpredictable and uncontrollable Corsair, replied, "Wouldn't you like to k""This is what I propose Commander," Gallion cut Tringad off once again, "You can either except it or leave it. It matters not to me. This is what I propose" Commander Gallion then outlined a plan; a plan so far-fetched, so asinine, so unorthodox that Tringad began to buy into it. At first reluctantly and then fully once he understood what Gallion's plan really was. To tell the truth, it was better than nothing and had a better chance of succeeding than his original mission plan.[/rp]I am reluctant to continue with the action in Lydan until Ristar and aramike01 are available to post. Several well practised finger movements later, "OK, here you are- Rebecca Gundine's brother was an Earthcom test pilot. He was killed while testing some classified equipment, but earthcom wouldn't let his family have his body. They incinerated it, and they took over a year to pay his next of kin compensation." "That had to cause some sort of resentment towards earthcom, and maybe towards all of us who work with them," thought Ron out loud. "That's why we noted it down. There's more. Jaromir Tepes' grandfather was killed when the shuttle he was on collided with a galcom battlecruiser near starpath just over two years ago, three years ago Jason Tisborn was aboard a galcom battlecruiser that mistakenly destroyed a pirate vessel that was smuggling illegal immigrants, because they thought they were smuggling weapons, and to top it all off, Commander R'or J'aal has a second cousin who disappeared last year while under suspicion of being a Sla'ti operative." Gallion Posted May 13, 2000 Author Report Posted May 13, 2000 Reposting the major posts only. This post originally posted by Daniel Sedlacek on May 7, 2000-----Greetings, everyone! I have just recently been accepted into ISS, so Commander Tringad pointed me here for some RP action. I look forward to working with you all! [rp] 18:21 March 15, 3008 GCV MillenniumCommander Daniel Sedlacek swivels around in his command chair and faces his tactical officer, Lieutenant Eric Meyers, "Yes, Lieutenant?" Lieutenant Meyers says, "We've just recieved word from Headquarters. New orders." Daniel nods, "Thanks, Eric, I'll take it in the ready room." Daniel stands and moves over to the entrance to his office, his boots lightly bouncing off of the metal deck plates. The door to the ready room opens, and Daniel slides into the chair before the door leading to the bridge can even close. Finally, he thinks with excitement, No more convoy escorts and sector patrols... I hope. The message uploads to his terminal and he skims through it. --------------------------------------To: Commander Daniel Sedlacek, GCV Millennium From: Galcom Fleet Command Subject: Fleet Transfer Orders Commander Sedlacek: Your current orders of patrolling Grid 42ae in the Pluto sector are hearby revoked. You ship, and its crew are ordered to proceed to ISS Headquarters where you will recieve an upgrade to the Millennium's weapons, and shield systems. Your ship has now been assigned to In System Support. Upon recieving your upgrades, you will recieve your new set of orders. Any questions and comments must be directed along---- ------------------------------- Daniel cuts off the message, and thumbs the commlink, "Cynthia, set a course for ISS Headquarters, best speed. And give me an ETA." His helmswoman's voice replies in her usual, cheery voice, "Course layed in, we'll be there at 22:45. Anything else?" "Yeah, have the mess hall send up some coffee, I have some paperwork to do." 22:45 March 15, 3008 GCV MillenniumThe GCV Millennium pulls into dock with ISS Headquarters. Upon docking, Daniel presses a button on his terminal, sending off all the notifications and other paper work he's had to do over the past 4 hours. He quietly stands and moves onto the bridge, "Report?" Lieutenant Cynthia Rodgers replies, "We're firmly attatched to the station. Engines powered down." Daniel presses a button on the wall, "Engineering, Sedlacek here. Logan, are you there?" A somewhat raspy voice replies, "I'm here, Daniel." "Good, some tech crews are comming over from the station to give our weapons and shield systems an overhaul." "Why wasn't I told about this?" "Sorry, Logan, but I've been holed up for 4 hours doing some paperwork. I need you to either: A) Trust the tech crews that they know what they're doing. Or Make sure they don't mess anything up." Daniel snorts to himself, nothing that engineers usually choose the latter. "I'll let you know how things go. Why exactly are we getting an overhaul?" "I don't know yet, but I'll let you know why we're docked at ISS Headquarters." He moves his hands over, and presses another button on the commlink terminal, now emitting his voice to the whole ship. "All Hands: We've just recieved new orders. We're being transferred to In System Support Fleet, if any of you have a problem with this, come contact me ASAP. But until then, Alpha and Beta shifts are off for the remainder of the night. Get well rested. Engineering shifts Gamma and Delta are to assist the stations tech crew with repairs. Again, anyone that is requesting any transfers, come see me. I'll be taking transfer requests starting at 0800 tomorrow. That is all." Daniel flicks off the commlink. He glances around the bridge, "Your all dismissed. Get some rest, and have a look around the station." He walks into the lift and heads down to his quarters. Tomorrow will be a long day, he thinks. The question brought forward was a simple but very dangerous question to both the Kandorain Military and Kandorian Civilization as a whole. The answer to this simple but volatile question would forever change the Kandorian civilization.Proposals for and against the question echoed across the chamber walls faster than they could be resolved. Needless to say it was near pandoimonium for those within. The head and leader of the fray, the one who had the ultimate responsiblity for answering the question - the same question that he had asked those within the chamber with him now. Not so very long ago a priority message was received from one-side of the three fleets currently in heated combat within the Kandorian home system. It was a simple message, with a simple resonse, a response that would be either yea or nay and force the Kandorians to choose a side in what was bound to become a galactic conflict. A conflict that the Kandorians could not ignore. The ruckus and threat-throwing came to a sudden stop has the leader raised his hand in the air above his head, signalling silence and the end of the Kandorian debut. The head of the Kandorain war council had reached a decision."Gentlemen," the Kandorian leader began, "after hearing all that each of you had to say in reference to our current situation. I have reached a decision...."The ruckus before the leader's annoucement was nothing compared to the cries that eminated throughout the throng as the implications of the question's answer hit each and every Kandorian sitting in the council chamber. The cries sread across the spectrum, from disbelief to full-hearted support. Needless to say that the current tactical situation in the Kandorain home-system was about to change. For the better or worse only time would reveal.1909, March 15, 3008 LV-103, Alpha CygniThe critical repairs were complete thanks to the creative method of componet acquisistion used by the old Corsair and the crew of the GCV Graf Spee. Though the major repairs were complete, or almost complete, the COrsair's steed was far from 100% battle-worthy. Commander Tringad had reluctantly agrred to a change in his mission orders - not that he had much of a choice in the matter. It is somewhat difficult to disagree with an somewhat unstable man in control of a Galactan Class MKII Battlecruiiser, no matter how beat up and battered it apperared from an bridge viewer. The necessary modifications were made to the Graf Spee's IFF Code Transponder, there were now two space vessels eminating Gammulan IFF Codes within the LV-103 system; on Transport with its Gammulan Military Battlecruiser escort.1905, March 15, 3008 Lydan, KrynonThings were returning to normal aboard the GCV Shogun, as normal as combat can ever be, in the aftermath of the latest Gammulan tactic. Damage to the Shogun was minimal as to the surviving Wraith warships.Hari found himself in the Medbay of the Shogun when he awake. He had caught some stray laser-fire earlier and was somewhat worse off tan when he had boarded earlier. Medics would swoop by his bed now and then, perusing the various nedical equipment he was plugged into checking his vitals and-what-not. To Hari it was liek a pig wallering in slop. None of the attending medical personnel or security pukes seemed to notice his subtrifuge - he had made. He had successfully infiltrated the target's vessel and domain. It was just a matter of time before Hari found the moment and made his move. Time was on his side now.[/rp] TTFNBen S. - not yet Ristar and aramike01 - post when ye can.Tringad - any ideas...?
Gallion Posted May 13, 2000 Author Report Posted May 13, 2000 Reposting the major posts only. This post originally posted by Robert De Bruce on May 10, 2000.-----1905, March 15, 3008 Lydan, Krynon ECV Event HorizonThe bridge of the Event Horizon was a mess. Several computer terminals were on fire and much of the supporting structure and bulkheads had collapsed. All the bridge crew had injuries of some description although thankfully as yet there were no fatalities. All around Commander Robert De Bruce lay the debris of a war in space. Wire hung from the ceiling and every few minutes sparks would fly from a swinging cable in a fashion that reminded the commander of an old twenty-first century space movie. Around him his crew worked to keep the ship and themselves alive. Frantic orders were issued, requests for a tool or component to repair a vital system, power allocation orders, helm headings and damage reports. The action seemed almost distant and automated. Since jetissoning the core to stave off the initial Gammulan attackers, the ship had become the centre of attention for several other enemy battlecruisers, all smelling the blood of a wounded prey. Propelled by a shuttle and protected only by her interceptors the ship and her captain were playing a constant game of chase, as the ship darted across the system. De Bruce knew time was not on his side. If he could not remedy the situation soon the valiant efforts of her crew would be for naught and they would surely perish. Over his comms link came the voice of his Security Officer Chris Raistrick... "Captain, we have the intruders isolated in the shuttle launch bay. I think we've won the battle Sir, but our losses..." the voice trailed off. "I understand Chris." ,was the reply. Tactical Officer Dave Garvey, came up behind the commander. "Sir, the ships shot to hell. Unless we think of something fast hull integrity will fail within the next twenty minutes." The Officers voice was not panic stricken, just matter-of-fact. "I used to be quite a card player you know..." De Bruce turned to his comrade. "Sir?" "You know why I was good? Because I kept a good poker face and... I always knew when to cut my losses and get out. Assemble the remaining crew, everyone, and arm them."We're leaving." "Everybody Sir?" "Yes Dave, everybody who can hold a gun will be issued with a weapon. Assemble them into squads and get everybody to the transporter room. Inform the Chief I need power for the transporter. Its time the Gammulans got a taste of their own medicine." "Aye Aye Captain." 1920, March 15, 3008 Lydan, Krynon ECV Event HorizonThe makeshift marines were formed into rough units with approximately 10 men in each. Men and women who had once held a wrench or a surgical tool now carried any spare body-armour or weapon that could be found. Commander De Bruce stood by the transporter technician and spoke to the assembled crew. "We are fighting for our lives now gentlemen. I wish all of you god speed. I shall accompany you on the assault of the gammulan battlecruiser. God speed." The crew saluted the captain and the time was upon them. The first team lead by the Security Officer materialised close to the bridge of the choosen Gammulan vessel. Other teams led by De Bruce and other senior marines were transported to the Engineering spaces, Interceptor bays and Crew spaces. The Gammulans although caught by surprise, were a tough race and De Bruce knew the battle would be fierce. At least with over 80 armed men numbers would be on their side. Gallion Posted May 16, 2000 Author Report Posted May 16, 2000 [rp]1915, March 15, 3008 Undetermined Location, Credian Quadrant GCV UsagiThe Gambit had been running for well nigh 36 hours of constant operations for Wraith Fleet and Fleet Commander Daniel Londono, nearly thirty-six hours worth of bad news from all Fleet areas. Operational Readiness is at an all-time low for battle worthy assets; weapon platforms and personnel. Unless some type of miracle or something unforeseen turn in the battle didnt happen soon, Wraith Fleet would cease to exist. The augmentation of the Mandorian Military within the Fleet had only delayed the inevitable. The Mandorian battle effectiveness was not as good as the Wraiths and they had suffered the most casualties to date the Lydan battle zone.No reply has yet been received from the Kandorian Military. The quagmire in Lydan could strengthen if the Kandorians entered the fray. Each minute the Kandorians delayed commitment of their forces into the battle in their home system, was one less minute of Wraith Fleets survival. Time was Fleet Commander Londonos biggest enemy next to the Gammulans.News had filtered in from Dragon Central that concerned the Wraith Fleet Commander. Resources were committed to assist the Falkyrie resistance against Gammulan occupation forces. Resources Londono felt would be better served assisting Wraiths battle woes in Lydan and beyond. No word had filtered through the space-ways from Sol as to when or if reinforcements would arrive. Londono had sent the warning order up the chain when the Gams first started offensive operations. To make matters worse, Delta Wing was once again missing and no word from his second-in-command. Deja-vue and flashbacks from the first Gammulan War entered into Londonos thoughts. Delta Wing is missing and negative contact with Corsair Wing  what was left of it that is. Next thing he thought was that the Insurgency would come riding like the Cavalry of old and save the day.Fat chance of that ever happening again, Londono thought as he perused that latest update from Dragon Central. He chuckled to himself as he read the latest exploits of the galloping Corsair and the latest mess that Gallion had gotten them both into, as if Londono didnt have enough to worry about already.1920, March 15, 3008 Undetermined Location, Gammulan QuadrantThe handler went about his business as though nothing were amiss. The operation was at a crucial stage. Hari had successfully penetrated the targets abode. Now all that the handler could do was wait as he paced the confines of his office. The handler ran all possible outcomes of the operation in his cranial cavity as he paced the confines of his abode.One-by-one he eliminated possible back doors and possible loopholes inherent to all operations. The four warships contracted to transport the operative to the target were no longer an issue. That loophole had been closed by the battle currently raging in the Lydan system between Galcom and Gammulan Military forces. The handler had covered his tracks well as did the operative throughout the pre and post phases of the operation. The fruits of his labor over the past seven years were about to pay off.1920, March 15, 3008 LV-103, Alpha CygniActivity within the two space vessels in orbit around LV-103 increased. On one vessel, Marines were getting ready for the preverbal what-if syndrome donning their battle gear. Marines were getting ready on the other vessels as well but instead of donning the normal battle gear one would associate with Marines, they were exchanging what they wore for attire more appropriate for the cosmopolitan atmosphere of a Falkyrie trading zone. Non-military attire of various styles and hues were unveiled, as final preparations were complete. The Commander of these infiltrators wrapped up his final preparations on the bridge of the transport. On occasion he would glance towards the bridge viewer display at the blackened and battered hull of the unexpected and unwanted battlecruiser escort. Each time he looked away from the viewer he would shake his head in dismay and disgust while muttering obscenities in various languages. Tringad had a mission to do and would do his duty to successfully accomplish its objectives, with minimal casualties on his part.1926, March 15, 3008 Lydan, KrynonThe hand-to-hand combat raging within the Gammulan warship was not going well for the Gammulan Warriors. The unexpected change of tactics taken by the Terrans had caught the Gammulan Commander and the Warriors aboard his warship completely ill prepared and off guard. The Terrans had the advantage from the onset of battle and swept through the meager Gammulan defense like a hot knife through butter. After several minutes the Gammulan Warriors regained the initiative and were beginning to repeal the Terran boarders, inflicting heavy casualties against them. That is until the legendary Terran known as Murphy once again reared his evil and diabolical head, this time in favor of the invading Terrans or so what was thought.Echoes of the battle raging aboard the Gammulan warship emanated though out the bowels of the ship. Then abruptly stopped as a section of the warships bulkhead weakened failed. Everything close to the hull breached that was not secured was pulled through the hull breach and into the vacuum-void of space. Terran Marines and Gammulan Warriors equally fell prey to this unexpected change in their battlefield. Hull breach containment measures were automatically initiated by the Gammulan computer systems. Massive doors blocked off passageways and hatchways were sealed. In some areas the combatants were locked in together with no hope of escape anytime soon, their only option was to continue their private dance with death against each other. In other areas the combatants were cut-off from each other and blocked. The Gammulan defenders were caught on the wrong side of the fence when the hull breach occurred. The Terrans had control of most of the warship, excluding the bridge, computer systems, and parts of engineering. Quickly the Gammulan Commander weighed his options and chose the only one that remained viable to him. He moved towards his command terminal on the bridge and entered the appropriate command codes and authorization; then set the timer for a two-minute countdown; destroyed the command terminal; resumed his station o the bridge at the command chair; and waited.Through out the passageways, berthings, and holds the computer voice of the Warships mother was heard counting down the seconds remaining before the end of the battle: WARNING, AUTO-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE INITIATEDA timer appeared on displays through out the warship and blinked as each second ticked away00:02:00 00:01:59 00:01:58 ... WARNING, AUTO-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE INITIATED00:01:57 00:01:56 00:01:55 .[/rp]Time to be creative Mr. Bruce Ball is in your court Tringad Almost Ben S., almost TTFN[This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 05-16-2000).]
