I'M GOING INSANE!!! I'm DYING TO PLAY THE 'B' GAME!! DAMN IT ALL TO HELL!!!DAMN THEM ALL!! DAMN MICROSOFT!! DAMN NOVALOGIC!! DAMN DIGTAL ANVIL !! DAMN MAXIS !! DAMN 3DFX!!!!! My bad, earlier I said I wasn't going to g0 there, but hey you know me, still the same ole G, a bit low key... [This message has been edited by SpacePhish (edited 04-28-2000).]
Guest Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 Yo G! Lets see I'm waiting on... (B-5 Into the Fire if it EVER gets made), Half-Life: Hostile Take Over, Team Fortress 2, Diablo 2, most of the other AD&D games (though I seem to never find the time to play them) HW:C, and if id makes another single player game I'll look forward to that, and I'de LOVE to see a System Shock 3 get made, but this time they have to put the elevator music back in...I'll play and finish about 75% of those, but BC:M and Team Fortress 2 I predict will be the ones to stay on my hard drive the longest =)
Guest Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 I think Klingon Academy could be pretty cool. Anyone tried the new multiplayer demo? It has all the single player from the earlier demo (but with different ships in Quick Battle). Best of all, it supports high resolutions. The battle damage looks awesome at 1024x768 when you start carving holes in enemy ships.
thanatos Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 I'm hoping STARLANCER can live up to half of its build-up. I was but a pup when Wing Commander initially hit the PC gaming arena, followed by the WC2, WC Academy, Privateer, WC3, WC4, WC5 and all the add-ons, from the Robert brothers, mostly Chris Roberts. I played Privateer more than any other game, due to the "open-end" game play after the actual scripted missions were over (I'm starting to drift to a comment about a game starting with a "B").Release date for Starlancer is stated to be April 29, which at the time of this post is tomorrow. What is this noise about only 23 missions? Will this be a one week-end game from install to final mission, or just a pricey demo for the follow-up multiplayer on-line game? The dark side of the force is making me hope it isn't too great, so I can continue to delve into the continuing saga of The Game (starts with a "b") as a newbie commander.------------------ Cmdr Doc Hoover GCV JOHN PAUL JONES"I will not fear death on the field of battle, for life is but a dream from which we all must wake"
SpacePhish Posted April 28, 2000 Author Report Posted April 28, 2000 Okay. Thanks for the reply. I regret posting the fisrt thread like that, I thought you guys weren't even going to respond hehehe Games I want to get my dirty ole hand on:1: The B Game. 2: Freelancer (if it ever comes out...) 3: Team Fortress Part Deux. 4: System Shock 3. (Yes, looking forward to my date with Shodan again LOL, actually I NEED to pump her full of leads hehehe).5: Any Cool Upcomming RPG games that I don't know about and don't suck.6: My tile-engine project, tank war clone. (65% complete, I finished Sprite Anim Engine, the Tile Engine, the Editor. Need to put in A.I, menu, and more levels).7: I'M GOING TO TAILAND WITH FRIENDS, WE'RE LEAVING MAY 15TH!!!!!!!!!!! YES TAILAND!!!!!!!!!!!!
Parias Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 Thanatos: I might be picking up Starlancer as soon as today, so I'll let you all know how it compares to Freespace 2 (since I've beaten it 31 times )Canusa: I've been playing KA multiplayer to death ever since it was released, and believe me, it RAWKS! Nothing beats a perfectly-timed ambush on a helpless Federation cruiser (while you're in a .. say, Romulan Centurion), only to drift in front of the ship and take 5 phaser blasts and a couple of photon torps to the arse just as you're cloaking again.. then you run to the nearest Solar Corona to hide and make repairs, and go at it again ...Or you just do it the Klingon way and ram him to death or something, but that's generally not too feasable.. heheAs for what games yours truely is looking forward to, I'd have to say any future games to the Freespace series right off the top of my head.. as well as Tachyon (the demo was pretty nice, left me with a lot of questions in the end) And of course there's Team Fortress 2... and my Ground Control beta CD should be in soon.. that game looks pretty sweet.------------------ Cmdr. thanatos Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 Parias: I'll be watching for your review of StarLancer. Let me know.I really enjoyed FrSpc 2, and would buy what ever is next with the FrSpc series, if there are any.I'm probably in a minority, but the Tachyon Demo seemed FLAT. Game shows promise, though. Supreme Cmdr Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 Starlancer: 5/10Tachyon: 8/10KA: Still waiting for the final version.
Andergum Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 Starlancer is another Wing Commander clone.. Awesome graphics as usual... but the same old... get a mission - shoot the baddies - return to base format.Tachyon is more similar to Privateer with the... select a job - kill the baddies - return to base - upgrade ship - format.. Tachyon has a more fleshed out universe and graphics almost as good as Starlancer...I like Tachyon's universe and SL's "feel" in flight.Neither has anything like BC3000's universe though...Looks like the only competition may be Terminus... we'll have to wait and see. my review...Tachyon - 7/10 Starlancer - 6/10 ------------------ Cmdr. Guest Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 I'm waiting to see Privateeer Online or the Star Wars online games... if they ever get made.Terminus looks cool, but from what I read it looks like if it was script based or tied to a storyline.. yuck. Now, being the impossible wish, I'm still waiting to see if someone will ever re-make Silent Service II and DARKLANDS... man those games would rock using modern graphics/multiplayer... arg, I gotta win the lottery, buy those games out from their creators, hire some programmers and... *dreams off*
Guest cynically_deranged Posted April 28, 2000 Report Posted April 28, 2000 I havnt played even a Demo for Starlancer, but I have tachyon, and i have to say I like it a lot. Another privateer it isnt, but the graphix are nice, and even tho its all scripted it has a pretty spontaneous feel to it. The AI on the hardest level is at least a LITTLE challenging too.. Wing Commander style AI's have allways sucked. Other games Im waiting for : Shogun : total War (3800+ units on the screen at once! DOH!) Space Empires 4 (SE3 was probably one of the best unheard of games Ive ever played)

Guest Posted April 29, 2000 Report Posted April 29, 2000 Parias: 31 TIMES?!?!?!? OMG! Are you joking?? I think that's a recommendation if I've ever heard one...Tac: I do believe that all future Wing Commander games are scrapped. Origin plans to focus on Ultima Online stuff only (If what I read was correct). BTW I played the Imperium Galactica II demo a little while back, that was WAY impressive. Ground assault was just frigin' cool.
Cruis. In Posted April 29, 2000 Report Posted April 29, 2000 yup the wing commander saga is dead, as far as origin is concerned.------------------ Commander Cruis. In Spectre Fleet CEO, Sygan Star Station ICV Defiance"Dare to be defiant"
Gallion Posted April 29, 2000 Report Posted April 29, 2000 Morrowwind will be a KA sequel to Daggerfall IMO. Battlespire and Redgaurd were some seriously sucky, sucky games IMO.
Joseph Bosch Posted April 29, 2000 Report Posted April 29, 2000 hey Tac i still got DARKLANDS on my PC and i still have the book that came with it along with that nice MAP hehe i play it every now and then and beat the *EVIL* pagans down as i try to be the good guy hehe------------------ COMMANDER BOSCH ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - OBENBONE ICQ:24625094 "For Orion Home and Soul we guard you"

SpacePhish Posted April 30, 2000 Author Report Posted April 30, 2000 Oh yeah forgot about Halo. Looks like it's going to be one of THEM{tm} games hehehe... after looking hard at all the upcomming games I came up with this theory of world-wide consipiracy, EVERY GAME COMPANY IN EXISTENCE TODAY IS COPYING FROM THE BC SERIES...*I WANT MY BCM!!!!
