Guest Posted July 28, 2000 Report Posted July 28, 2000 Well ok... I'm actually refering to my scuba class, wish me luck. I'm doing my first four open water dives this weekend for certification. Assuming I don't freeze to death in the icy cold Pacific Ocean I should come back a certified diver... Fortunatly I made friends with this Swedish girl who happens to be drop dead gorgeous so I have a great deal of incentive to go jumping into the murky cold waters. =) (As if freezing with a cute dive buddy some how makes it more appealing... hmm... well, actually...)Never the less the class has been a total blast, so if anyone out there is contemplating doing it I would highly recommend it....I have a feeling come Monday I'll be pricing plane tickets for anywhere warm...
Guest Posted July 29, 2000 Report Posted July 29, 2000 Good luck Vorpal! Dont touch anything with bright colors, specially in the Pacific. And that includes the blonde. What ye getting? NAUI? PADI? Best of luck to ya!-Tac PADI Since he was 8 years old (well, guess having my dad being a Padi instructor helps! )SCUBA ROCKS!
Wold Posted July 29, 2000 Report Posted July 29, 2000 Hehehe, I envy you! When I was in Oregon I came real close to taking scuba lessons...couldn't quite wedge it in between school classes though. I could learn here in AK but I just cant bring myself to scuba diving in a swimming pool... and the "outdoor" water is downright fridged POSTED: WARNING Don't feed the sharks, just the fish!------------------ Cmdr. Guest Posted July 31, 2000 Report Posted July 31, 2000 I LIVED!Tac: It's PADI. Very VERY cool weekend... on my final dive a harbor seal came up and started playing with us for a bit. Even grabbed on to my dive budy's (yes her) fins for a few seconds. I was hoping to see a seal of some sort while I was out there so that pretty much made the dives all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips. Wold: I'm a native Floridian so the water temperature kept me from doing this for about 2 years now but thanx to my friend's persistance I made the leap. I was shocked to find that I had absolutly no problem with the water temperature. Yeah it's a bit... "crisp" when it first goes into your suit but it warms up really fast, before you really have time to get cold. However, doing the full flood mask clear was a bit rough. You have to take your mask off underwater put it back on and clear it, and I had no idea just how cold your face gets with no mask in this water.... WOHH! I think I broke their speed record for a mask clear =)Anyways, time to go colapse for the night...
Guest Posted July 31, 2000 Report Posted July 31, 2000 Congratulations!!! PADI is the best one out there! I had my NAUI (amazingly, in most places if you show NAUI card you get discounts..go figure)and I couldnt use it on the Caribbean or the Pacific when I went to dive, but man, swipe that PADI card and its like VISA...works everywhere!Open Water diver, welcome to a new life! Edited: Dive safely buddy, and even in the stupidest, shallow water dives check your time charts Florida native? bah, warm blooded reptile.. hehe...[This message has been edited by Tac (edited 07-31-2000).]
