If I tell people I'm a programmer or network admin or hardware tech or any variation on that theme (yes, all those are my titles plus a handful of others) then their eyes glaze over. Now if I add that I work for the largest sewage plant East of Chicago (and I do) they immediately go on point and start asking questions. Questions about sewage treatment that is. . . . Emmett.hendrick Posted April 20, 2001 Report Posted April 20, 2001 Just read the link and its right, I have been playing computer games since I was ten and am now 26 I have been working in the computer industry for the past 8 years and have had many jobs including network administrator and Field service engineer and I HAVE to say that my skill base was started by tinkering with Dos to get a game to work or seting Win 95 up for a network game. We may be looked down on but for the moment at least people with IT skills are hot property jobs wise (at least here in Ireland), and I would be very hard pressed to find anyone I have worked with that Does not play games.Usually if I'm at a party and it comes up what I do in my spare time I ask people were they work and how much they earned in the last year, Then I tell them what I do and how much I earned and tell them that computer games are directly responsible for what I do and that tends to shut most people up fairly quickly!
