R_wilco Posted August 27, 2001 Report Posted August 27, 2001 I've noticed since I registered that my rank has remained "Ensign". I've noticed people, even people that registered just a month ago, that have their rank listed as "Cmdr".Is my rank still the same because I haven't done anything worth promotion? Or because I haven't posted enough? Or I pissed someone off...Or is it completely arbitrary?
Badgerius Posted August 27, 2001 Report Posted August 27, 2001 It is directly related to the number of posts you make. Nothing personal. I think 50 will get you Commander, but I may be wrong...
R_wilco Posted August 27, 2001 Author Report Posted August 27, 2001 Just 50??That would be like if they promoted you after 50 kills...Karl Reines: You killed 50 Gammulans? Congratulations, here's your WarMonger!
Kush Posted August 27, 2001 Report Posted August 27, 2001 Make a couple more posts and see what happens!

Guest Posted August 27, 2001 Report Posted August 27, 2001 Well, LOOKY THERE, a new commander!! What a concept!!50 is indeed the magic number, congrats, you just hit it!!
Epsilon 5 Posted August 27, 2001 Report Posted August 27, 2001 At the rate that I post.... it won't be long I'll have more post than the majority of people here... already have more posts than my FC Should I constantly reply to this topic until I get to the big 1000?
Blades Posted August 27, 2001 Report Posted August 27, 2001 It's not the volume of posts, Epsilon 5, it's the quality of them that count.
Supreme Cmdr Posted August 27, 2001 Report Posted August 27, 2001 ...anyone caught posting just to bump up the rankings, will get their posting priviledges suspended indefinitely. In fact, I've bumped up the requirements.
Guest $iLk Posted August 27, 2001 Report Posted August 27, 2001 I'm sure that if people knew then we would get even more replies just to up the count. As Blades said, it's the quality of the posts that count. The fact that I'm approaching a new number doesn't concern me.... Really it doesn't. The only time I really post here is when I feel an urgent need to respond to a topic, whether it be to offer some sage advice - or just to bluntly shove my opinions in other people's face Regardless I have a purpose. I'm surprised at how high my post count is here actually. Most message boards I don't break 50 before I'm bored and leave. It's the community here that matters, and contributing to and learning things from it are what matters to me. Battlecruiser has been a passion of mine for quite awhile, not as long as some of you, simply because I didn't get a computer until 1996 and no games for another year, but I was there to see the 1998 demo of bc3k and thought it a kick-@$$ game. I didn't get a copy of it until 1999, but it was worth it. I found these boards back before I got the game, but never registered, just read the humorous posts. I thought it was a majority of RPG posting, but this year when BCM came closer to completion I just had to register. And I fell in love (not just lust ) with the community around here....So anyway before I get further off topic - congrates Commander R_wilco *salute* Now go mop some floors you space janitor you.
Menchise Posted August 28, 2001 Report Posted August 28, 2001 Hehe. When I saw the Ensign rank for the first time, I was puzzled to say the least.I re-registered to the Battlecruiser forum in 1998 (there was a period of time when the site was offline due to a crash at the ISP). Back in those days, the UBBs didn't have the 'ranks'. I visited regularly but only made about 30 posts between Oct '98 and Oct '99, after which I got sidetracked for about a year and a half.I came back in March and saw the Ensign rank. Hehe.By the way, do any of the veterans here remember the old Battlecruiser site with the Arcade section and the Asteroids clone?
Papi Posted August 28, 2001 Report Posted August 28, 2001 Sure, it's been discussed here before."Clear to dock" *sigh* (falls back to nostalgia)[ 08-28-2001: Message edited by: Papi ]
