Guest hindot Posted September 10, 2001 Report Posted September 10, 2001 Got a problem with my dvd drive on my pc. For some reason it's not loading any of my games yet it plays my music cd's just fine. Help!

Generic drives tend to crap out when your forget to start your sentences a capital letter, lets not even talk about game CDs (Which use programs and features like Autorun and SafeDisk). I'd go buy myself a nice new Creative Labs DVD Encore 16X w/ Dxr3 decoder card... and one of those new Sound Blaster Audigy cards too. The only generic hardware I personally have any faith in is my keyboard.FYI, Autorun has nothing to do with generic CDROMs or weird burning techniques or funky encryption schemes (that I'm aware of, at any rate). All Autorun is is a (human-readable) text file called autorun.inf that directs the OS (be it Windows, MacOS or Linux) to do various things on detection of the insertion of a CD, provided the OS was told to do anything at all on detection of the insertion of a CD.
