The left wanted to give to individuals. Did our republicans skip economics 101? If you're going to stimulate the economy, money MUST go to the CONSUMER. It ends up in the hands of the businesses anyway. The economy is not about money itself -- it's about money that MOVES. Give it to businesses and it sits in the bank. Give it to people and they can spend it whereas that prompts businesses to hire people, make money, and goods to be created to satisfy the greater demands.Businesses with money simply in the bank don't have to increase production as there's no greater demand; they don't have to hire as there is no extra labor needed, etc. And the hiring is the key -- more people make more money, more money is spent. Hence, the economy is stimulated. This is the big "Duh" that the republicans have TOTALLY missed. Some of you may be surprised, but I'm rather pissed at them right now.

The more I see of politicians the more moronic activity I see.I think they do things just to screw up this country and take away as many liberies as they can.But yes, the Republicans dropped the ball BIG time on this one!!TAX CUTS are a GREAT idea though, as well as cutting the capital gains tax and killing the death tax. these 3 things all together will really do some stimulating and get the economy moving again. and I am talking across the Board, EVERYONE gets a tax cut, who pays taxes that is!!

Capital gains taxes are enacted when there are solid capital gains, meaning that lowering the tax would likely cause quite a bit of selling on the stock market which would hurt the economy. But I believe the other taxes need to be cut -- across the board.

Cutting capital gains taxes would actually serve to destabilize the short term. Everyone knows that, long term, the US economy will level out. The short term stability is the issue, I think.But, eventually, you're right -- the capital gains tax should be cut for long term benefits.
