Halo&Eric Nylund or who should write BCM Book?

First I wanted to ask anyone out there who has an Xbox what they think of Halo? SC didn't you have an Xbox ordered? What's your opinion?

Second I want to open discussion again on who should write a BCM book. I am currently reading "Halo The Fall of Reach" by Eric Nylund. I picked it up because I really like Eric Nylund's "Signal to Noise" & "A Signal Shattered". I read a lot of Sci Fi & Fantasy. Anyway it's a pretty good book and I am impressed with his ability to write space & ground battles and thought he might be a good candidate to write a BCM book. My other choice for an Author would be Michael A. Stackpole. He has written many books from MechWarrior to Star Wars(His X-Wing series). He also has a few fantasy books he has written and he has helped make many RPGs in his day. No one does descriptive battles like he does. I think it is what he excels at. So that is who I am nominating. Who would you nominate?

Anyway after what I have read in "Halo The Fall of Reach" I really want to play Halo but I don't think I can afford to get an Xbox yet. Anyone have an idea when it is to come out on PC?

I would think on the guy that wrote the REALITY DYSFUNCTION books. Damn good writer.

Now, what I would REALLY like to see is its anime version

I thought about trying those books but I couldn't figure out how many there were(4+ I think but I could be wrong) and what order they went in. Could you give me the names and order they go in Tac? Thanks!-) I'll check them out. I'm alway looking for good Sci Fi. Has anyone read the Gap series by Stephen R Donaldson? Is it any good? I loved his Thomas Covenant (not sure if I'm spelling that right and I don't have the books with me right now) series, but they can be a little dark and bleak at times.

As for the book, I have it too and Eric would be the best person to write a BCM book too.

books 1 to 4 are around 600 pages each, THE NAKED GOD is around 3000 pages. And its never boring

Thats his 5 books in the order they should be read.

He also released a book with short stories based on this universe, called A SECOND CHANCE AT EDEN. In this book he actually tells how Edenism was founded, the way Bitek was created, the voidhawks designed and the background of many of the major players of his 5 books. Very good read.

Just backing up Tac opion on Reality Dysfunction. They are very good reads. I've read all of them except the "A Second Chance at Eden". The author's name is Peter F. Hamilton!

Thanks for the info Tac & quantum. I'll check it out!-) And thanks for the backup SC !!! I really want to play the game after reading the book. Also I want to check out the AI in it. I hear it is really good. Oh well... I guess I'll have the money someday or maybe it'll finally come out for the PC.

Blades has had this little project going for a while, trying to rewrite Preemptive Strike into a novel-form. But unless someone actually gets him the free time, and forces him to do it, it's doubtful it'll be finished any time soon.

Hm. I haven't read any books by Eric Nylund..... But I have played Halo once, and it r0x0rz!!! Me and my PC-playing friends are waiting for the PC version, while Donnie (the friend who owns an X-Box) mocks us while we wait.

I think some of our RP vets like DeSylva, or Blades, or some of the others could make a pretty good book, if they were given the chance, and the money for the job. 'The Pluto Insurgency', is by-far, my favorite stand-alone BC story. Go read it (and some RP's) some time if you're looking for a nice, long story in the BC Universe.

Given the option (and the possiblity of payment) I would LOVE the chance to write a full-length novel based in the 3000AD universe. However, as an untried and untested author, this dream will stay a dream, methinks.

Thanks for the compliment, Nova. I really enjoyed writing The Pluto Insurgency. Some day I'll have to revise it - I never liked the title, and I feel the ending was rather weak.
