The few folks from near Pittsburgh cheering on the Steelers.... The Wisconsiners (that's how you say it? ) who were cheering on the Packers..... A few hapless, lost internationals.... And the lost man from Oregon, who's had one too many medpacks recently.....An interesting week it's been, all leading up to Sunday's game.....

What happens if they lose to someone, ho hum, the Packers lost, does the world stop, does your identity and pride go out the window, are you depressed for the next 6 months because they lost? NO!!!In Europe, Footbal is attached to a persons identity. THe local team is the local identity, the county team is the county identity, and the national team is the national identity.Football is a PART of the culture, it actually helps people identify themselves. if thier team is a winner, the fans are winners, if the team is a loser, then the fans are losers as well.Each person in Europe literally attaches themselves to a team, and thier self identity comes from it. There is ACTUALLY something at stake, it is THAT important. So when I say Football, HO HUM, I mean it, your life does NOT revolve around it, you do not identify yourself with it. If a team loses, so be it.In Europe it is NOT this way.That is the point I was trying to make, I played with you a little bit, but was hoping someone would state this before I had to, but I guess not.Sorry if I upset you Paddy, but it was an exciting game, and the power locked up in that crowd, man, when it was unleashed was awesome, unlike anything that I have ever encountered in my life.You could feel how important it was to them, it was..... you could reach out and grab it. Reputedly, the worst European soccer fans in this regard are the British, especially when they're in another country.

Rams intercept. Later..... 3 seconds left, Eagles have 1 play... Tension mounts. No cigar. Rams win. It was so damn close. This was a great game. God, I coulda sworn that the Eagles caught that ball..... Really good game. That's what you get when you pair up the #1 Offense of the NFL (Rams) and the #1 Defense of the NFL (Eagles). One word: schweet! Rams vs. Patriots--Super Bowl Sunday @ New Orleans. Next Sunday at 5:08 PM; preshow starts at around 1 o'clock.(A couple side notes; even though there was the possibility of an all-Pennsylvania game, both of those teams lost... The Super Bowl feels more, uh, I don't know, "American" this year. Really good tribute if you ask me. It's ironic that the Patriots made it into what is most likely the most patriotic Super Bowl ever. It's a shame I'm cheering against them. I expect a great game today. Online Game Center here Another useless statistic: The Rams are the only dome team in history to win a Super Bowl. (This is according to Fox. I'm pretty sure it is, according to my memory, but I'm not exactly sure.)

What do I say? I guess it's this: This is what the Super Bowl is all about. Down to the last seconds. The Rams gave it their all in the last 2 min. Really close to the first overtime in SB history. It was good to the last drop. Nice touch, eh? The Patriots win what is one of the most patriotic game ever. Congrats to the Patriots. There's always next year.

Funny thing is, no one at my school even seems to remember planning for such an event. They all say the Rams suck. Heh. That is the one thing that pissed me off today. People who said they were fans, who, upon losing, instantly changed sides. But, I admit that the Patriots deserved it. It's their first Super Bowl title, so good job to them. Next year, we'll show 'em. And isn't it just dandy--we won by 1 yard last time we were at the Super Bowl (XXXIV), and this time, we lost by 4 seconds with a Field Goal. Oh, sure we can beat the Packers by 30-something. But it's the Super Bowl where we always make it close. Great season. Now, it's back to reality..... Or virtual reality.....
