Soback Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 By the way, you know that by bilingual support they mean spanish. Why doesn't everyone jump on the bandwagon and sue the government for not having Russian, Japanese, Chineese, Dutch, German, Arabic, ect.... Yeah, lets do that. PS. Hey Menchise, hope you get to read this post and remember me discussing America and how it should be one language, one culture. Well, now you see what happens when too many people don't become Americanized and want to create a piece of their country here. That's my taxes being wasted on those lawsuits, instead of putting them towards homeland security. What have you got to say now?

Exactly Right! How can someone expect to understand American politics enough to make an educated vote if they canÔÇÖt even read the news.

Darn stupid lawsuits.
Guest Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 im telling you man, this PC crap is only allowing the greedy to get exclusive benefits. Once again, I bring up the scholarships in college. Go to your local college or U. and pick up the list of scholarships. Count how many are for everyone , how many are for minorities or specific ethnic groups. How a low income white boy will ever get a scholarship when from a list of 40, 30 are closed to him, is beyond me. What I see is the system of he-who-cries and lobbies the most gets the pie syndrome. And since the PC crapola prevents most from speaking against blatant inequality , nothing is ever done. As an immigrant to the US I fully support the idea that if you dont speak english, you have no bussiness whining, or voting or demanding others adapt to your needs. Its almost as ridiculous as me going to a apply for a job, getting rejected because I dont speak english and then suing the place for discrimination. In one of the jobs I had I worked with a puerto rican (was my supervisor), a black jamaican girl, 2 guys from the US and a girl from canada. We were joking around one day about the upcoming raises and promotions.. the canada girl and the US guy were great team workers and were on the cue to get promoted. I wasnt paying much attention to the conversation, all I remember was the jamaican girl suddenly exploding and threatening to go to HR if she didnt get a raise (and she wasnt a good employee either, lowest scores for months..and her attitude stank). Next thing I know the next day everyone but ME get called to HR about some discrimination problem... later I find out she had gone to HR and filed against the supervisor and mentioned the others saying she didnt get a raise because they talked trash about her being black and jamaican. Can you believe it? The manager really couldnt dismiss the thing because if he did the girl would go over him and file HIS name too. So she ended up getting 25 cents more raise than the rest of us. The power of PC at work. In my country stuff like this goes around the office giving everyone a good laugh..and then she'd get fired on the spot.

What have you got to say now?All I've got to say is that the lack of bilingual support is only one of the reasons for the 11,000 complaints about the election. No use lumping the entire set of lawsuits into a contested issue about language. Debating the issue of anti-discrimination laws in the workplace is also pointless in this context because it's irrelevant. We're talking about voting rights here. Any unreasonably disproportionate restrictions on those rights are not acceptable, period. That includes "disparate treatment of minority voters, improper purging of voter rolls, ÔÇ£motor voterÔÇØ registration violations and failure to provide access to disabled voters". These are very serious charges that warrant the DOJ's actions. If such action is not taken then the USA is no better than Zimbabwe.

It wouldn't surprize me at all if before ten years is up will be required to speak spanish.
Lotharr Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Heh...all's fair....we annexed all that land and now it is being reclaimed in an unusual manner....
Guest Grayfox Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 ?donde esta mi pantalones? !e pantalones en e piscinia! ?en e piscinia??? ?porque? ok im ready... ive got the bilingual thing down so someone wont sue or discriminate against me because i dont speak "their" language when they want to ask me a question at work... if i was a guest, or wanted to live in a foreign country that spoke a language other than english, i think theyd be pretty peeved at me if i didnt know the native language. i would find it COMMON COURTESY to learn the native language. hell id go around with one of those little tourist books "how to speak..." same goes for some (mind you i didnt say all or most i said SOME)of our "guests" they have no ambition to learn the language, and think we should all serve them, when we are the ones giving them sanctuary from whatever f#ed up nation they came from, or from wherever they wanted to get away from... ok that was a wee bit off topic... my bad [ 05-22-2002, 12:48: Message edited by: Grayfox ]
Põdi Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Er, Grayfox, have you ever come across American tourists in Europe? Believe me, I have. Unfortunately, the majority of them speak English in loud voices, demanding to be understood. That is NOT a stereotype, I see it week in week out over here. Fortunately for them, a high percentage of Europeans speak English. It's nice to see that you would make an effort though. It's a shame many of your compatriots aren't as concientious. Having said that, the Brits abroad are no better.........

Steve Schacher Posted May 23, 2002 Report Posted May 23, 2002 quote:The government will file three lawsuits against Florida counties alleging voting rights violations resulting from the bitterly disputed 2000 election, a Justice Department official said Tuesday. TWO OTHER LAWSUITS also will be filed, in Missouri and Tennessee, by the department’s civil rights division, Assistant Attorney General Ralph Boyd told the Senate Judiciary Committee. This is much deeper than you think. Florida - we all know what happened there. Tennessee - Gore lost his home state. Missouri - Ashcroft's home state. There is a mole on the loose in the Justice Department.

Guest Posted May 23, 2002 Report Posted May 23, 2002 First of all, the fraud and deciet during that election was rampant. The democratic party, and this has been proven by the way, took a busload of homeless from voting place to voting place, each was given a different identity at each polling place and voted at least 6 times each. The Dems gave each homeless person $20 for thier time. The other fraud's were almost as bad and almost as complicated. The motor voter registration is just incredibly rampant with fraud, an alien gets a drivers license and they are automatically registered to vote, no need to be a citizen or speak english. Then, again, the democrat party contacts this alien, that they know does NOT have the right to vote, and makes sure that they know where the polling place is, and will even give them a ride to the polling place and a translator in the voting booth. I have yet to hear of the republicans doing anything like this, they are saying that up to 15% of the votes cast in that election were actually illegal votes, and 90% of them were cast for the Democrats. And people wonder why I hate Democrats, liberals and socialists, the only way they can win is to cheat!!
Epsilon 5 Posted May 23, 2002 Report Posted May 23, 2002 quote: And people wonder why I hate Democrats, liberals and socialists, the only way they can win is to cheat!!Here, the Liberal party won by a large measure. Around 40% of the overall votes (next in line is 25%) and almost 60% of the seats (Next in line is 22%) And no allegation whatsoever to fraud and cheating. Or at least not that i read about. Guest Posted May 23, 2002 Report Posted May 23, 2002 Actually, I was guess that both parties here are corrupt, but nowhere near the extent that Japan or Brazilian(spell?) parties are. However, I think the media had a far greater influence on the closeness of the recent presidential election. Primarily because republicans in the west saw a lot of states being called democrat(which were early guesses that were later proven incorrect). This caused republican voters on the west coast to not vote, because they thought the election was already lost. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done to solve this problem, except to educate people to always go out and vote, regardless of the way the current election results look. As for the lawsuits, I think they could potentially have a good result, provided they actually get to the bottom of the entire mess and not just shift money around. Shadow_Wolf33 Posted May 24, 2002 Report Posted May 24, 2002 LMAO!!! I love them spanish phrases... and I think EVERYONE just needs to calm the fk down with all these lawsuits...you can sue a person for slipping and falling on your @$$ on their driveway...thats just pathetic.
