Guest Posted May 26, 2002 Report Posted May 26, 2002 I hope this really triggers another space race. Best wishes to China! http://www.cnn.com/2002/TECH/space/05/20/c...reut/index.html
LordDavid Posted May 26, 2002 Report Posted May 26, 2002 Sounds to me like some sort of star trek (pun intended) [ 05-26-2002, 17:19: Message edited by: LordDavid ]
Guest Posted May 26, 2002 Report Posted May 26, 2002 Whatever trips their trigger I suppose. The more money they spend on space, the less they have to spend for nuclear missiles aimed at the United States.
Guest Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 It will also force the US to spend more money on space rather than on military hardware. Its good on both ways =)
Epsilon 5 Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 Go China You know, I have serious doubts that the USA landed on the moon, no really.
Guest Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 We need the military hardware, our military was gutted by Clinton, we need to infuse our military with a little cash and quit getting involved in every rinky dink world problem. We need to build up our defenses, and cut down on the social spending, the feds have a number of jobs, social spending is NOT one of them, but the military is most definitley one of thier jobs and they need to do it!!! EP5, you need to quit reading those conspiracy sites, it's got you addled BIG time!! The US didn't go to the moon....ROFLMAO!! Sorry, I know 1 of the astronauts, Gordon, and he most definitely went to the moon!! ROFLMAO!! Sorry EP5, that conspiracy always just gets me laughing hysterically!! Guest Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 who cares. It will hopefully spur the same kind of space race that put a man on the moon. Maybe this time we'll put one on Mars.. or make the first base on the lunar surface. Sometimes I wish I had been born in 2000
Eclipse Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 Or china will get a really nice welcoming ceremony when they do finally make it up there.
weegee_101 Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 [sarcasm]Yay[/sarcasm] now china too will have even better missles that can destroy the world if they fit them with nukes (which they will, its inevitible). I think its great with the space stuff, but this kind of stuff can get disturbing you know? Like, if you think about it, this kind of stuff can lead to another cold war.
Guest Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 quote: Try Carter. this is true, but Reagan rebuilt it, I know, I was there when we went from pieces of Sh$t tanks to REAL tanks, and from Jeeps to HUMMV's. carter gutted it, Reagan rebuilt it, clinton gutted it, now Bush is rebuilding it. Hmm, democrat guts it, Republican rebuilds it, democrat guts it, Republican rebuilds it, do I see a pattern here?
Epsilon 5 Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 Democrats helps the world and build relationships with poorer countries. Republicans build up a shell and show they are superior. Repeat. My point of view. quote:HUMMV'sNo "U" in Humvees . Just HMMV
Guest Remo Williams Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 Cool, I would like to see someone return to the moon. I wouldn't hold my breath though the way they fly into stuff. They'll probably hit something in orbit on their way to the moon and blame the US for it. LOL!
Raven Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 quote: Democrats helps the world and build relationships with poorer countries. Republicans build up a shell and show they are superior. Repeat. My point of view. You are correct, however I would much rather be in a position of power then have everyone like me. I'm not saying that good foreign relations is a bad idea, nothing could be further from the truth, but by having a strong military it becomes less necessary to use the military at all. IsnÔÇÖt that the whole point of nuclear weapons? You make them so that you never are in a position where you need them. About the Chinese space program though, thatÔÇÖs extremely cool.

Guest Posted May 28, 2002 Report Posted May 28, 2002 N'Sync will be next Dreada. So much for the space program
Shadow_Wolf33 Posted May 29, 2002 Report Posted May 29, 2002 wonder if the Chinese will want to use the Canada Arm on their craft...hmmm...and I thought they already made little temporary bases on the moon...could have sworn I had seen a picture of it somewhere...oh well...they'll all freeze to death when the moon rotates so that the base is on the dark side
Guest Posted May 29, 2002 Report Posted May 29, 2002 We always see the same face of the moon SWolf. The moon rotates just so ever slightly that its own orbit around the earth plus its slight axial rotation makes it "static" as far as which side is dark and which side is light. Its beautiful. I find the moon to be the most fascinating planet in the solar system NASA even has a spot on the moon chosen for a possible base site.. the "Pillar of Light".. a point on the moon bordering the dark side where the base would have the best place to generate power, dissipate heat and protect itself from solar radiation.
