Not exactly. As I remember (and I'm pretty sure), the moon DOES have a day, which means all of the moon's surface gets exposed to the sun eventually, each moonth. But the axial rotation's speed makes it so that we ALWAYS see the same part of the moon from earth, and the hidden part always stays hidden from our telescopes. 1 lunar month (about 28 days) = 1 moon day. There is no actual dark and light side of the moon, it's an expression for what we see and don't see.

Btw, considering what I wrote, you will understand that that pillar of light is found at either / both of the poles.

true, true.. its light on the dark side when the moon is between earth and sun.. but you get the idea
