Guest Grayfox Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 well, the new radeon is supposed to be hell bent and charging, but since i have issues with all ati products, i have decided to boycott them id go with the new geforce... its supposed to be like 10 gallons of whupass in a 5 gallon jug. however, you will get alot of excellent ideas from the other members of the community. all i can say is take their suggestions, then shop around for the one that best suits YOU, and your system.

And if you're not allergic to ATI boards, get their latest 9700 model. If you want one now and don't want to wait, get a GF4 Ti4200 or Ti4600

But if you can get the 128MB Radeon 8500, get that one instead, since I think the GF4Ti4200 only comes with 64MB of memory, though I'm not sure. If it comes with 128MB, then get it. If not, get the ATI 8500 Don't get the 8500LE because thats got a slower core/memory clock - 250/250Mhz compared to the 275/275Mhz of the 8500

I dont know much about this stuff nor do I pretend too...I understand certain things and not certain others. Im a man i tend when I see my frame rates dropping...i get a new card I need one now I know....but is now the right time? Im thinking earlier next year...will the price on the next gen cards dropped a bit by then? hope so...the Matrox card sounds cool....they all sound cool...but I'll wait for further results as I have time...and dont need something immediately.

Meaning the frequency of new drivers, their stability, and if the company is fast at working out any glitches. In my opinion Nvidia is still in the lead. So take your pick carefully.
