CommanderJohnson Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 IE is the best and you all know it! Microsoft gets a lot of heat, but their browser is the fastest. Netscape seems to have longer load times. (I couldn't resist, Dragon Lady )

Epsilon 5 Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 I use IE, but I was iusing mozilla until it started to deadlock my computer, sometime causing instant reboots. Oh well. i.e 5.0 is faster and more reliable.

My web development lecturers constantly reminded students to test their sites on both IE and Netscape to check for compatibility issues. The mere fact that compatibility issues can exist when implementing HTML of all things is disappointing. These compatibility issues are mainly caused by the developers of IE and Netscape in their attempts to hijack web standards with browser-dependent tags, bells and whistles. This behaviour flagrantly contradicts with the World Wide Web's need for interoperability. Apart from that, there are a variety of reasons why both browsers should be avoided. When IE crashes, Windows crashes; Netscape has a poor track record with CSS support; both browsers bundle insecure email clients; and so on. If you're a Windows user, get Opera 6. I use Mozilla, simply because it actually works without freezing my system for the heck of it (I.E. does that), and Netscape can take 2 minutes to load while getting ready to enter a URL (I.E. can take a minute.) Mozilla takes 10-seconds, mostly being background-tasked by Linux. I've more or less divorced Microsoft, although I keep a gaming computer running with it. After 19-years of marriage, we just couldn't seem to get a stable working relationship. So, I tossed in the towel, and filed for immediate seperation, and started an affair with her younger sister, Windy98..... (I can't figure out how to state that Windy98 works well on my laptop without it sounding wrong....)
