Chavik, I already said that some of them make sense. I mean Phoenix, anyone knows that (Although I didn't know the story of how you got it. Nice, btw).

Thanks Kwasi for telling me about the Eye of Heru. I admit, I didn't actually recognise the name at first, but after reading the background, I remembered.

If you don't already know, the Galatea was the name of a ship in Conflict Freespace. I liked the name Galatea, so I used it as my ship name (Although I didn't know that Parias had already chosen Galatae. But he's ICV and I'm GCV so it's alright).

Also, my ship is Constellation class. That's mainly because I have Version 1.00. I tried a demo of Version 2.00 and after trying the Galactan class, I much prefer the Constellation class.

So, if in BC3020 multiplayer if you choose to fly a BC and you can choose from one of the classes, I would definetely fly Constellation class.

Plus, all you lot who reply to this thread, I would still like to hear about the origins of your ship motto's as well as the origins of your ship names. It's all very fascinating.

I went through alot of names before I finally got around to the one I have now, which is the Swiftsure. Being an avid Trek fan, I first chose an obvious name, Enterprise. I grew out of that name and into others, including, Illustrious, Vindicator, and Dreadnaught. One day, I was reading a Trek book entitled Spock's World, and saw the name Swiftsure. It seemed perfect for me, and I adopted it as the name of my ship in BC3k, and registered it. I'm also rather fond of the fact that out of all the ships in the Commanders Roster, mine is unique. I haven't seen another Swiftsure, though I have seen alot of Enterprise's.

By the way, Gallion, I always did like the name you chose for your ship. The name of a valiant German pocket battleship, that should have gone out in a blaze of glory against a superior British force. It's a real shame that she was scuttled instead.

One of my Great Uncles, Maxamillian von Ramm was an officer on the largest battleship ever to ever sail, THE BISMARK. This ship was call the "Dreadnaught" of the seas, because it was thought to be unstopable.

Some of them are simple like 'Retreat? Hell' or 'Honour and courage, above all else'

while some of them are long like 'When a man walks to you with a willingness to give, you should take from him with thanks.

I mean, WOW. I assume that some of these motto's reflect your personal outlook on life, or your personal philosophy, while some of them were simply chosen because they 'are really cool'.

Antti-It is interesting that there are all of us from different parts of the world braught together here at BC3000.com. It is very intreguing how different cultures view their roles in the game. My family was very military and aggressive in the past. Those genes run in me and it shows up in my military life(ret.) and how I play the sim.

Well my family has been also very militaristic..

Grandpa was teamleader in WWII, and his father also was an officer in WWI and he worked for Finnish Defence forces. My father is an officer, I am going to get my future job from army, too.

When I was in the Army, I was in the 194th armored Brigade, "The Buffalo Soldiers". I was thinking of using their motto, but I want something original and explains how and why I fight the way I do. Jaguar says a lot of it.

Stealth, cunning and above all surprise. Now to make that into a decent Motto and I'm all set.

But keep them coming, I have found this most fascinating!!

I'm not sure what country you live in, but if it's the US, wait another 18 months, until you know who is gone!! Otherwise, go for it, but do something technical, get training that will make you money on the outside in civilian life.

Yes, I live in Finland, and I know Finnish Army is hell good. You can think about WWII, With 200,000 soldiers we defended the whole damn country from about 5,000,000 Russian soldiers. Think about that.
