Guest Grayfox Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 the movie was crap! they just happen to crash land on this planet where 1 day in every 10,000,000 years or whatever there is a total eclipse, or all the planets align or whatever... and guess what??? they land there the day before... how coincidental it was corny and cheesy, and vin diesel being a bad ass is the only thing that saved that movie from earning the "tidy bowl" award for crappiest movie. it was your basic run from aliens, die by aliens, 1 or 2 people escape from alien ridden planet, movie...

Vin was the only thing saving that movie, and I was only interested in it because of his shot on the commercials. It was indeed an overall corny movie. Equivalent to that space movie Ice Cube was in a few years ago.

The action and suspense saved that movie. Vin did about as much for Pitch Black as he did for XxX. Bald head, big muscles, wooden acting.

Come on man.. get serious... There are about 10,000 Sci-fi Novels and Short Stories that all revolve around Crazy events unfolding to a specific Group of people in the Wrong place at the Wrong time. I think the movie is Great. The best part being how the characters through the situation learn to Sacrifice for those arond them. Like the Chick and Ridick. IMO, This is a very entertaining SCi-FI movie that is jsut like coutnless Scifi Short stories with interesting characters thrown against impossible odds and unlikely circumstance.
Guest Grayfox Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 ya but see the catch is IT WASNT ORIGINAL!!! if there are 10,000 sci fi stories revolving around strange occurrences happening to people, then it isnt that uncommon is it? its how you put it together. it followed the footsteps of all the other alien vs human or vice versa movies out there. throw a twist into it instead of making the plot so obvious a blind man could see what was going to happen. add another race, one that doesnt just "come out at night" thats indeginous to the planet that hunts humans and whatever those things were that just so happened to come out once every 1 million years. now you got a 3 way. and it gets a bit interesting... what happens when the hunter comes across the things besieging the humans??? does it attack the hums, or things, or both??? and you make it sound like it was a one of a kind movie because there was sacrifice...theres sacrifice in just about EVERY sci fi flick. what about aliens? the marine chick and the LT sacrificed themselves because 1) one was injured and wouldnt leave the other behind, and 2) they bought time for the others to escape. what about predator?, what about red planet? what about star trek? or star wars? those are sci fi flicks... they have sacrifice... someone please come out with an alien vs predator flick... that might actually be entertaining to see.
