Did you ever had to send an loved animal away?

Today, "mimi", a cat we bought for my sister is going to the great sleep. The cat, said to be child-loving, and peaceful, keeps biting us, and mostly my 9yo sister when we try to tare care of her, even when we try not touch her where she doesn't like it, and she fights with my own cat that now have bruises. But usually she's very friendly.. we like her but we all understand that we have no choice ...

We would give her to someone else but she probably would stay as agressive. We had her for about 2 months now.

A few years ago we had to send another cat away. The best cat in the world. Would never be aggressive, liked everyone including strangers, and would not fight (but would play) with my own cat. But he developped an infection that was serious enough for the cat to stop eating, stop drinking.. stop living normally ... and there's no way we could have been able to spend enough money to cure something that maybe you couldn't cure.

Hell i already spent about 350cnd just to help my cat with a kidney problem that was just in early stage... but he's alright now

When I was pregnant with my second, my cat Magic came down with a horrible infection that we could not cure. He peed and bled all over the house. I of corse was not supposed to be around that, but tried to keep him as long as I could. He then started to show signs of pain, so I had him put to sleep.

I also had a dog who had to be given away while I was in the hospital giving birth to my second.

He started getting very aggessive, I couldn't keep him with a toddler and a new born.....

I still miss them both.

I still have one cat, he does his own thing and never bothers anyone...other than that I now have fish...thinking about a box turtle though.

Sorry to hear of your loss, sometimes, I had to learn, there is nothing else you can do.

Yeah death sucks. Having been thru many pets (mostly dogs) but luckily they died of old age and not early from some nasty infection or virus.

It's like loosing a member of the family. But they still live on in our memories well that is until it's our time to bite the big one.

I'm sorry to hear that Epsilon. About two years ago, two days after my birthday, I came home to find my beloved George dead on the back porch. Several dogs had died and we think it was a neighbor changing antifreeze and didn't clean up properly.

There are several sympathy poems around but they will make you cry.

I've been sad since this morning when I read your post as it reminded of having to have my dog Shelley put to sleep nearly a year ago.

Shelley was a Golden Retriever, nearly 17 years old and suffered from arthritis for the last few years.

She went nearly everywhere with me, the only real time I was away from her was when at work any other time she would be only a few feet away, sleeping under my desk while I was on the computer or with her head on my feet while watching television.

I sometimes regret that I didn't take her to the vets and be with her at the end but I just couldn't do it

The trouble with pets is you tend to outlive them.
