Anyone into this?

From the free stuff on the web I have traced my paternal history to some guy in the 1800's who happened to have the same first name I do. I wonder if my parents knew or it was just happenstance.

My grandmother once told me I was related to the 14th signer of the Constitution. Dunno how true that is but they were from Pennsylvania.

Interesting stuff but takes a LOT of work to research.

my great aunt was really into genealogy research. from what i remember about my fathers side, is that my ancestors came over from ireland during the potato famine in the 1800's. one of my ancestors served in one of the pennsylvania brigades during the civil war (cant remember which), but my most famous ancestor founded the town of Redding, California shame he was hung as a horse thief though...

as for my mothers side... thats all native american from my grandmother and grandfather on.

Way cool.

My best friends are a mix of Mims as in Fort Mims Alabama but also have native american heritage.

My Maternal heritage is German.

Both maternal and paternal are mostly german but beside that I got a mix of Scottish and Irish. I don't remember that we did too much, the tree goes back quite a ways.

I recently got some free software for complaining about AOL. It gave me a free month to Ancestry.com. It was cool, sad though, a lot of baby deaths. Thank goodness for modern technology. (Oops that's a topic for a different thread)

My Uncle had my dads side done all I know is we are black Irish from Ulster (I think that's the name of the place) So I guess I am a little Spanish. I guess at some point a lot of records were burned in Ireland I think by the English...not too sure

My moms side: my great grandparents are off a boat from Italy. Lost it after that as my great grandmother was an orphan and I can't find my great grandfather.

It is really interesting though.

We've managed to keep our family records intact and up to date since the early 1300's and we've been able to trace back to the 1100's

I think thats really cool (my mother side can be traced back further then my fathers but not by much)

We've got the tomb's of old books full of geneology information pretty neat stuff...
