Force Field

I know this sounds star trek-ish, but wouldn't it be reasonably less problematic if force fields trap intruders at the proper section of the ship so that they can be trapped or open the opportunity for the marines to finish them off at their leisure or simply send them to the holding cells? Please don't flame me for this.

Better yet we could do away with intruders altogether. Hey now that I think of it it would be much less "problematic" if the Gammulans were friendly and the Insurgents didn't exist! Wow think how easy the game would be then! And boring frown.gif Sorry, not intending to be an ass but I think if we make the game too easy then there's no point to playing it. Besides marines are cheap wink.gif

giorgio, you're talking BC3020 and beyond.

You guys really should use the search function and find out if what you're posting has already been covered.

The spy option sounds good, how about using a type of spy like the ghost espionage agents in starcraft which can do a variety of spy duties from infiltration, to demolition! I can see it now.

"Commander, we have intruders of unknown origin, must be insurgent and we seem to be ARRGH!! "Tactical officer, what the hell is going on?! "Sir the intruders must be using some kind of cloaking device, we can't seem to trace their path without running into them! "Commander this is the Chief Engineer! I have detected a large number of c4 explosives planted all around the reactor and I haven't a damn clue in cracking these codes! "S**T!" "Abandon ship now!" "Sir I have an incoming message from inside the ship." "What is it?" "Commander, your time is up, you die now!

Yeah, but then don't you just know that the intruders would have stolen/hacked some sort of override code that lets them just open the fields and walk right by?

Shoot, that could make it harder. Depending on how well the intruders knew their business, they might be able to hack into the force field controls and then confine all your marines to their quarters.

Then they turn off all of your personell lifts, put up mines and portable automated turrets and force fields in your stairways, take engineering and force the engineers to hand over the codes, turn off life support and power to the bridge... Hey wait a minute! What kind of super hackers are these guys? Take over a whole Battlecruiser with half a dozen people my a**! Well, heh heh, too bad for them that they didn't know about that little button that I had put in my command chair. Yeah, that little one hidden under that wad of gum, the one that says "Gas Engineering". It's a direct control, one with two wires connected to a hidden gasser and a battery. No computer interface. Let's see 'em hack that! smile.gif
