  1. All looking very nice, there, SC, looking forward to some post-tweaking shots, though there's a lot of potential in what's already there, some intriguing ideas and game concepts in there as well, a very good read in all, here's to hoping all goes to plan
  2. doing well, fleet matters have gone a bit quiet since our MP opposition lost its leadership (I guess we scared everyone away ), maybe things will pick up again with the latest version of the game, hard to say, everyone having different versions is our eternal problem
  3. Stumbled across another nice set of beer ads I thought you guys would appreciate:
  4. OK, as a result of a PM discussion I had with BC_Vet, we're going to do a little RP activity based on the recent events in the Fleet action MP season, a little more expansive than our standard after action reports thread. Anyone can join in, pick yourself a character (or few), and play along, your character can be expendable. Standard RP rules apply; no new tech or races, no killing another player without their consent (I.e. when you defeat another player, leave room for a possible out for them), be consistent with the events of the match(es) and moves (see below) The story we're going to flesh out first is the recent fall of the Mars region to the Gammulan empire, which proceeded as follows: The Gammulan fleet outmanoeuvred the Galcom fleet sent out to intercept it by going through fluxfield 2 directly into Mars, in doing so losing 25% of its fleet strength to the black hole connected to that fluxfield. The defensive patrol forces in Mars knew that the Gammulans were approaching Galcom space, but were taken by surprise by this move. The defensive patrol forces were heavily outgunned by the Gammulan forces, who had many more capital craft at their disposal, the patrol forces having only fighters and a few cruisers. The station fell to the Gammulans, but they lost their flagship in the process. The planetary engagement was one-sided and Mars fell relatively quickly, the gammulans incurring minimal losses by using heavy aerial bombardment, though Galcom snipers were very effective at holding their ground troops back for a while. Have fun!
  5. if you happen to be pointing in exactly the opposite direction, that happens in all versions of the game, it's quite cool in the later versions
  6. interesting perspective, I assume you have a long-term plan of sorts in mind?
  7. Well, we've just added downloadable offline missions for UC to Fleet Action to allow people with only that version to take part, so it's not really an advertising campaign as such
  8. In order to allow people with only Universal Combat (and not A World Apart) to take part, UC special Mission 1 has been released. Download the file and extract it into your save folder, a mission orders file is include in the archive. The deadline for this mission will be the same as for Combat Mission 3 above, when it is announced. [ 08-14-2007, 06:10 PM: Message edited by: ShoHashi ]
  9. another alternative is to launch all of your other support craft and have them escort a friendly station for the duration of your trading, then there's nothing for intruders to escape on and you can leave launch control on, meaning no problem redocking with your CC once you're done, and usually a lot of prisoners in your brig when you get back if you leave your CC escorting the station as well As for where to park, it depends on where I happen to be when I get the urge, usually in a deserted area (well away from any bases if there are any) of the nearest non-gaseous planet or moon.
  10. Right, holiday time is here, I'm away from Saturday 4th to Saturday 11th and then again from the 25th to the 31st (all in August) During that time Marc is in charge with Krasus second in command. That is all
  11. He's back home now, safe and sound, happy and playful as ever, lost a little bit of weight and reluctant to try things from Mummy's plate, but no problem eating baby biscuits and drinking water, so he should put that back on in no time. Very nice to be back together again. (I must upload a more recent pic of him to our website sometime)
  12. He's looking a lot happier and healthier today, eating and drinking small amounts without any adverse effects, almost back to normal, they'll probably be keeping him over one more night to be on the safe side, but it looks like the worst is over. Thanks, everyone!
  13. My little Sammy (13 months old, the sweetest and nicest little boy you'll ever meet) has been having severe diarrhea over the last few days, and vomiting back up basically any food or water we give him in any form (even ice-cold tea by the teaspoonful, as the children's doctor recommended) so my wife is taking him to hospital for an overnight drip. There's no telling how long he'll be there, hopefully just this night, I'd really appreciate the prayers of everyone here willing to offer them. Thanks,
  14. OK, welcome aboard, Buzz! An email has been sent to you at the address you gave in your fleet database application, check that it hasn't been blocked by your spam filter.
  15. He's still not showing in the ISS new recruits list, so if you could approve him and move him over to ISS, I'd be most grateful. Thanks,
  16. yes, please (I have no way of knowing which fleet you applied to if you chose the wrong one)
  17. I don't see your application, did you choose the right fleet from the drop-list?
  18. Well, fleets have their own training programs, showing you stuff and tricks you probably haven't worked out on your own, you can get involved in team-based MP matches (or downloadable single player missions) battling for control of the galaxy for your alliance, as you gain in experience, maybe reaching a team leadership position at some point, and there's always all the RP (storytelling) possibilities... ISS and Wraith are the two most active atm.
  19. Application approved, welcome to the fleet. Create an account over at the ISS Fleet forums and we'll get you started. An email has also been sent to you at the address you gave in your fleet database application, check that it hasn't been blocked by your spam filter.
  20. You're welcome, and welcome to this little community of ours. If you like the series so much, would you be interested in joining a fleet and getting involved in some organised MP ?
