Check this sites forums out, especially the Fijitsu Hardware Forum for an answer. Post a question if you like, I'm sure somebody there knows how to fix this if they can. If my memory serves me correctly, That Modem I believe is for a "Frame Relay" setup, which is going the way of the dinasaur for the better "ATM" setup. Again, check that site out.

Here come the lawyers!!!!

Did they not think this was bad to begin with??? I mean now since any domain will now resolve to something, the easiest SPAM check for ISP's is now down the drain. They can nolonger check to make sure a mail sending domain is valid or not, because they now are all valid.

Charles, how did you know?

I want one! Why by a boat to haul, when I can just turn the hauler (Car) into the haulie (boat) with a flip of the switch. Fishing would never be the same again.

Anyone have trouble with windows update?
GREG MILLER replied to Epsilon 5's topic in General Chatter
Alrighty!!! Glad we could get this sorted out for you. Now for whoever else ever reads this thread.....Remember, Motherboard drives nowadays are essential, so make sure you've installed them. That goes for all platforms, Intel, AMD, VIA, SIS, etc. -

Then Start Win98 in Safe Mode and then try to apply the patch. If that don't work, then I say reinstall the OS. That is your only other option. -

Just click on this sentence and a box should come starting the download. When done, find the file and execute it, follow the directions on the screen. Lost In Space, given his technical expertise, I don't think I would have instructed him to update his bios just yet. It is not the same as updating a driver, and can totaly trash his board if not done right. Wow SC, that was an adventure. The Antec PSU is sure nice though, I run the exact same model in my box, and it replaced the 400w that the wife now has. Speaking of that, we had a family member run a new dedicated electical line in the PC room right before I brought her new machine online. She couldn't understand why I didn't run both 400w PSUs off of the new line. -

Calm down, and don't scare him. Now that I think of it, my wife's machine had the exact same problem, installation of anything would appeared to lock up the machine. If you let it go, it would eventually finish. I say appeared because the machine would just sit there, spinning the CD in the drive. The mouse would still move, but nothing else would work. I don't know exactly what fixed the problem I can only speculate. Our machines (Wife's and mine) are almost identical, both have the same Mobo. The differences are she only had one stick of 256megs of Ram, and I could not turn on the 4 bank interleave, or else the machine wouldn't even boot. She also had an older, slower ATA66, 5400rpm drive to my ATA100, 7200rpm. The first thing I did was update the 4n1 Hyperion drives. With that alone I noticed much better drive performances (HDD, CDROM, FDD). Soon after though I got a new HDD, and passed my other down to her, as well as more Ram. She now has an ATA100, 72rpm drive, as well as 3 sticks of 256megs, with the 4 bank interleave turned on. The slowness has gone for good. In conclusion, I advise you to install the most recent 4n1 Hyperion drives first from Via and see if that fixes your problem. If not, then try to reinstall windows one more time, maybe your last install didn't go well. -

Hades, I've noticed you have a fairly new graphics card in your machine. I am starting to wonder if you have an adequate power supply. How old is this machine, and is it an OEM (Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc.) or did you build it yourself? Also, see if you can get a power rating off of the power supply itself. Did this start happening after the Vidcard Upgrade? -

As for me, I've been on my ass at my computer all day. Because even though it's Australia it's bloody freezing outside! SC correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this site is hosted out of Pittsburgh's own Pair Networks. Oh, for those that have been in the dark, next time come to our fair city, as the lights stayed on. I was on a BF1942 server Thursday night.

Jag, although you can just move the HDD over, it is best to reinstall the OS so that any problems are negated. I've heard people say just uninstall all previous chipset and MoBo drivers before transferring the HDD over, but I would just do a reinstall, that way you know you have a stable system from the get go software wise. Edit: I just noticed you will going from an AMD platform to an Intel platform. Yes, it is a must to reinstall the OS, as that don't work too well going from one platform to the other.

Yea, I pass my hand-me-downs to the wife as well. Ofcourse when I do this I keep getting, "Why must I always get the hand-me-downs???" I just passed on my 2 256megs sticks to complement her 1 256meg stick, as I inserted 2 512meg sticks in my board. I hope your Vid card is a GF4 Ti and not an MX, otherwise start saving now so you can play BCG. Oh and trust me, you can't compare Onboard Audio with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.

They say Zone Alarm with not work with MS ICS. I know for a fact that it does, as I did it with my machines before getting DSL. I also had to share the 56k Modem. You have to add all machine IPs to your Trusted zone as a subnet. I don't know about Win2k, but this worked perfectly with Win98se. I had to do the same to Win2k machine and her Win98 machine so files can be shared across the Lan. Until I did that neither machine could see each other. This is why I assign static IP's to all my Lan Machines. I hope this helps you out Jag.

Things were good until MSBlast showed up. Seriously though, congrats on the system, you should be extremely pleased with it. Oh, and btw, Lock that sucker down ASAP.
-
Jaguar, why are you not running a firewall on your system? Get over to Zone Labs now and download the free version of Zone Alarm. This goes for the rest of you, at least a firewall will prevent you from getting infected and you can update your system safely too. My Router logs have been hammered with port 135, 137, and 445 scans; although my Zone Alarm logs on all Lan PC's are clear. My Machines are fully updated with the lates Virus Dat files, and all Windows Update patches applied. Jaguar you are not alone, I currently have 2 coworkers that have been infected at home, so I will be busy this week.

Whatever card you get, just don't get a GForce 4 MX series of cards, they are DX7 parts, and will not get you anywhere fast in BCG. If your a gamer on a budget, I recommend an ATI Radeon 9500pro or 9600pro. If you want to spend around $100, and don't mind giving up some eyecandy, go with a DX8 card. You can find cheap GF3 or GF4 Ti cards at Newegg.com Good luck with your quest.

Hey, thanks for the info, although, I just normally grab one of my own fighters and take care of it myself. As someone else has said, cheap STS missles are also good, and can even take out several at once if they are close enough together.
