  1. First of all, I generally don't use the "F" word when referring to The Almighty. That in mind, my first "WOW" experience with BC3K came when I finally popped in the Mappak. I thought I'd be a badass and eliminate the Insurgents from Earth (forgive me, Rattler , this was before I discovered how to play as an Insurgent). So, I began an all-out offensive and got my butt kicked. I "wowed" at the AI. I expected a cake-walk.
  2. That IS strange...
  3. Sorry, but the creation of new fleets has been outlawed for some time now. Feel free to join one of the existing fleets, however.

    BCM newbie's

quote: I know you want to end the thread, but I do have a request. Instead of instantly removing a stupid newbie question, could we give them a stock response first. ie This question is answered in the manual. That's generally what happens. I probably should have said this before, but the only time I'll delete a "newbie" question is if it's from a newbie who makes a habit out of posting such questions.

    hola

*Trembling* "What do you mean, Cruis is going to protect me on my visit to Barbados?" *Trembling more* "How on Earth did that delinquent get to be a cop?" Just kidding, Cruis. Glad to see you haven't forgotten us in your rise to the law...

    BCM newbie's

quote: Guys, not wishing to start a war here and i know i do risk the possibility of being booted out for continuing to voice my opinion.First, let me make one thing clear to everyone: you will NEVER, EVER get booted out of here for simply voicing an opinion. Doing it with serious disrespect is what gets people booted. quote: Aramike - your answer is about what i have saying, as a newbie you had had questions that needed answers and derek (bless him) provided what you needed, therefore what is 'obvious' to some, is not 'obvious' to others.Yeah, so did everyone else provide what I needed, by directing me in the right direction. The bottom line is, if you come here and you want someone to hold your hand throughout the learning curve, you're playing the wrong game. As I said before, we're not the manual, we're the community. We'll help out friends, but we won't DO IT ALL for them. So, if there's a question about something that's been WELL-DOCUMENTED, covered to death, etc., it's going to go. Is it NOT the gamer's responsibility to use the resources at hand? It IS their responsibility. Especially when the resources are abundant. The people here are friends and gamers, NOT a resource.

    BCM newbie's

quote: Aramike, i gotta say in defence of 'newbies' is that what appears to be 'foolish and obvious' questions to a seasoned 'vet' as yourself may not be as clear cut as others new to it, who want to 'get into the game' as fast as possible, this is what i was trying to say about the R.T.F.M's.Pull yourself up a chair. Got a story to tell. I remember my very first post on this site. I couldn't get the game to work, so I posted seeking assistance. The first one to respond to my thread was Derek, using something like "I've misplaced my crystal ball, so please just tell me your system specs.". So I did, and he tirelessly tried to fix my problem. But you see, he was trying CUSTOM fixes, because he assumed that I had read the FAQ. So nothing worked. Then he asked me if I had read the FAQ. I said something like, "What's a F..A..Q?". Anyway, I went and read the damned thing and sure enough, I got the game running smoothly. Who knows, if it weren't for questions like those, BCM may be gold by now. Anyway, my very NEXT thread was, "why can't I orbit?". When I checked back, it had mysteriously vanished (thanks, Derek ). So, I used the search feature to try and find my thread. I didn't find it (as it had been deleted), but I DID find about 100 threads referring to the EXACT SAME TOPIC. If only I had done that in the first place... The point is that this site is run just like the game - you've got to use your head to get ahead. No one wants to CONSTANTLY answer the EXACT, SAME questions over and over again, not to mentions questions that have been well-documented in SEVERAL places. And if I, for one, find a topic that's been covered over and over again; documented like crazy, I will be deleting it on site. You want to know why? Because if TOO many threads on the same topic start to clutter the forums, you've just gone and rendered that search feature USELESS. But if you think this is bad, or something of that sort, just go visit any OTHER gaming community. You'll never find one like this, where the BS is kept out, and useful, easy to find information is all that's cluttering the place. I mean, how many detractors do you find in here, cluttering up the boards? None. That's because, if by SOME stroke of genious they manage to get past the initial CAT screen, they're found out and banned IMMEDIATELY. Differing opinions are welcome here. Personal attacks are not. Go to any other site, and that's what you'll find. And here, if you're told to read the manual, you may as well just do that because the information you're looking for really IS easy to find. If you're truly lost (as many can be), then post here. You'll either find your answer, or be led in the right direction. This forum is a community, not the instruction manual for BC3K or BCM. ~Mike

    BCM newbie's

There is a newbie forum already. Called New Commanders. Remember, though - everyone who answers questions does it without obligation, so if foolish, obvious questions start flooding the forums, there may be quite a few RTFMs.
  9. Hey there! Welcome aboard! Try Spectre Fleet! ------------------ Vice Admiral Michael Kristophers ICV-Intrepid, Spectre (Antis) Fleet Leader Spectre Fleet "You can only love or hate something you truly understand." Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series Leader, Team 1
  10. quote: Yeah ... whats up with that? Go ahead and take the lead. I got me a couple of hours before I needs some shut eye.Give me a day to think about what I want to get you on this time. Need some new material because you've already asceeded to the fact that you'll fall victim to the first whipping.
  11. quote: Oh, and dont mind aramike. Orion Fleet and the Insurgency have a *special* relationship that both camps are going to fully enjoy once multiplayer mayhem gets here. Personally, I wouldnt have it any other way. Oh, and Mike? Not so much of the little ego, eh? We both know it's massive. Hehe, haven't had a RP flame war in a while, now have we? Something to think about...
  12. Just for clarification on Spectre Fleet - be advised that we are partially tasked with kicking the [RP]ego[/RP] out of FC Savage's (Blades) [RP]little head[/RP]. ------------------ Vice Admiral Michael Kristophers ICV-Intrepid, Spectre (Antis) Fleet Leader Spectre Fleet "You can only love or hate something you truly understand." 13. Well, you can choose your career. If you pick a EF Pilot or Pilot career, you get an intercepter based upon availability. If you choose a commander career, you get a ship based upon availability AND merit. But remember - make SURE to choose wisely. You can fight for GALCOM's Earth-wrecking dominance, or for FREEDOM in the Insurgency! ------------------ Vice Admiral Michael Kristophers ICV-Intrepid, Spectre (Antis) Fleet Leader Spectre Fleet "You can only love or hate something you truly understand." 14. Caller: Is this the Johnson home? Me: Nope, wrong number. Caller: You sure? Me: Actually, let me check my drivers license - it may actually be the Johnson...wait, nope, wrong number. [This message has been edited by aramike (edited 01-30-2001).]
  15. Since when did copyrights mean that no one could use the item unless they paid for it? A copyright means that no one can SELL an intellectual work other than the copyright holder. In other words, I can't make money off things you do, you can't make money off things I do. But if someone distributes something free of charge, that's a different can of worms. The only time a copyright comes into effect is when the copyright owner ASKS for the distribution to stop. If the distribution doesn't stop then, it's illegal. I really don't think the companies that created those "abandonware" games really care all too much. Underdogs.org has been around for some time now - you would think they would have been shut down if it were truly illegal.
  16. quote: Heh, I read the FAQ.Ladies and gentlemen, whoever this guy is, give the man a WARM welcome! He actually READ the FAQ to get his game running, instead of coming right here! *Fainting* quote: Welcome, always nice to see a new tar...er... face here.LOL, er, Commodre Antilles, let's make this man welcome, because I'd think you'll agree that we could use some help in Spectre Fleet. ------------------ Vice Admiral Michael Kristophers ICV-Intrepid, Spectre (Antis) Fleet Leader Spectre Fleet "You can only love or hate something you truly understand." 17. First, you need CGI permissions. Find out and post what they are. If it's on a free hosting server (as it appears to be), I don't think you'll be able to run CGI scripts. Second, if you CAN run CGI scripts, you can find Perl code all over the place, and it's license-free. Just do a search for "Perl". Third, what do you mean by "an uploader"? Ammend: I guess you do have CGI permissions, in light of the message board. [This message has been edited by aramike (edited 01-24-2001).]
  18. Epsilon 5, go to TACOPS, create a waypoint on the planet for your shuttle, launch shuttle from TACOPS, and it will do the rest.
  19. In the case of the screen being enlarged, just adjust your monitor settings. They should revert when you exit the game.

Looking foward to single player BCM. Thanks for noticing. Doc Hoover We're gonna have to get you caught up. Everything is SP right now.

  23. I deleted all the other, IDENTICAL topics in each of the fleet forums. IF you want to announce something to the members of every fleet, simply post it one time in here - not one time in each forum. Thanks. ~Mike
