  1. This is good news. Some people think that having a Web site gives them some kind of "power". Now he'll see what the feds have to say about it.
  2. Post yer system specs. Also, I know there have been some known issues with the Voodoo3, so you may want to take a look around to see if someone's had a similar problem.
  3. Gonna have to check this out!
  4. Hmmm, maybe the standard delay is too short. Regardless, I haven't had the problem at all. Try clearing your Internet cache.
  5. quote: Originally posted by Commander Jamont: dont post this here , post this under te demo forum. I see nothing wrong with him posting this here as it pertains to BC3K too.
  6. My daily McAfee update posted something about an ICQ virus. Wonder if that could be it...
  7. After you post, when you get the page that says to "Wait while we create the new page", do NOT click on the link that it provides. Let it automatically forward you. The server takes a few seconds to process your post so if you click that link too early, the new page isn't up yet. [This message has been edited by aramike (edited 03-21-2001).]
  8. quote: Cool demo, I love the in game music, any idea where I can find more??Pssst. See that guy up there? Raven? He knows who did the music....
  9. Dagoon, if you cna't find cities or bases on planets, you'll need to download the map pak from the downloads page.
  10. mosselman: quote: Hi I installed the demo correctly. Then i rebooted and started the exec. Screen went blank and i got thrown back io my dekstop. No messages or anything. Anyone who can help me? Here's my system: *P II 400 - 128 RAM *RIVA TNT 2 ULTRA *Windows Millenium *no additional progs in tray Tnx. o0Feral0o: quote: I'm having the same exact problem. I read the part in the trouble shooting guide that seems to be describing the same failure, but it says you get a serial number during installation. You're supposed to send the number somewhere(dosn't say where), then you somehow get a new number, then you somehow use that new number to make the game work... I don't know how to do any of this, because I never recieved any kind of serial number during install, and even if I was able to get the final unlock code I couldn't enter it anyways because the game dosn't start.Osho: quote: The serial number stuff is for the full beta, not the demo. That document has details on the entire beta version of the game. Just skip that. Nvidia owners need to make sure they have disabled the z-buffer checkbox in their video settings. If you don't uncheck it the demo will just exit back to the desktop.
  11. Post anything in here - random thoughts, etc. - that does not belong in the other threads. Feature requests will not be entertained, however.
  12. rc51: quote: Hello. I downloaded the demo of Battlecruiser Millennium. However, when I double click the exe the game will not start. I just sit there at the desktop. I have a Quadro 2 pro from Elsa. This is the second time ive posted this... once in the technical support forum... although i was told your not supposed too... (?) and then they deleted my message ... so this is the last time dealing with this complete nonsense. thanks. System spec: Supermicro P4STA - P4 1.4ghz, 128 rambus Adaptec 3200s ultra 160 controller DX 8.0 I think its the video card though. I looked into a log file and noticed some lines that said unable to initialize renderer. Kurt Meyer: quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Go to Display Properties. In the Direct3D section of the Advanced settings tab, disable (remove the tick mark from the box the feature described as: Adjust Z-Buffer depth to rendering depth if unequal" I'm going to assume you did this and are running official Detonator v6.50 drivers with no other programs running in the background.
  13. Here are some previously posted comments that deal with this issue: dnoyeB! quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I play for some length of time I eventually get this. debug assertion failed! bcm.exe file: fprint.c line: 56 Expression str!= NULL I have vc++ installed so I think its catching this error with a little more info than normal? For a early version this thing is rediculously solid. I mean for someone who says its not finished, it sure seems so. Steve Schacher: quote: You can thank Mr. Smart's devotion to beta testing for that. A study of the BC3K and BCM version control files will show the great amount of work that went into beta testing his titles.Joel Schultz: quote: Didn't I read somewhere that the demo was based on the Debug beta code?Advil: quote: yeah, this is the same error that always stops me. Seems to happen at about the same time too. I'm not watching the clock, but it seems to pop up after about 30 minutes (real time). I don't have VC++ installed, and never have on this machine... so I know this isn't related to a VC++ debug on my end. Starwind_XGP_2001 quote: Yeah, I have the same problem. It does that around 13:39-13:48 game time.
  14. Here are previously posted comments that deal with this issue: Mongrol: quote: New interface is very nice. A much needed improvement and much more modern looking. Thing is, it`s totally let down by the left click menu. Up pops this big blue 3d bas-relief thing with a massive font, but that`s not the worst thing about it. It`s when you don`t know what option your going for and try to click back up a level the submenu starts "crawling" towards your pointer, eventually forcing you to bail out the menu altogether and start again. The game looks good, but that menu is pure pants. Rip out that old code and shove in a new fangly nice menu that fits the style of the new interface. You know it makes sense. (Objective replies only, sycophants not welcome). Mongrol Kush: quote: I'm sure redesigning the menu wouldn't be that hard, and would be a welcome change, but at this point a bit of a luxury. Terrain engine and multiplayer are higher on my 'must see implimented list' right now. Kurt Meyer: quote: I am running in 1024x768x32 and the interface to me is fine. Everything is easily accessible and easy to use. The popup information menus are quick and easy to read. I think the icons are ok (they dont bother me but they are rather large). Custom popup menu color customization and font size would kick ass.Supreme Commander: quote: To tell you the truth, I don't like the Blue/White menu against the Gold background, either. The problem is, if you saw the early shots, they were color coded and didn't look right at some resolutions. I do have it in my todo list to come up with a different scheme at some point. Its just TOO low a priority for me. As for the way the menu works, the Beta testers didn't complain about (believe me, they b*tch - a LOT - and I usually have to strongarm them into submission. ) it and I find that it works. If it works, why fix it? If you want to back out of the menu, move your mouse away. If you screw up the first selection - move your mouse away. I'm not going to invest time in something as trivial as that. I'm not developing a new OS interface. In fact, unless you are new to BC, you'd notice that the Tacops menu system is color coded - because that was easy to do. Now, tell me if THAT color scheme would look good - globally. I don't think so. I had it there before and ripped it out. ps: You are right that your discussion warrants a new topic - BUT - please be courteous and respectful to the people here who object because they don't understand your reasoning - ESPECIALLY - members of my Beta team (e.g. Jamont). Getting flippant and disrespectful will get you banned by a CAT member and I almost NEVER override their decisions. So, had you been overly rude, they'd have banned you by now and I wouldn't have been able to continue this conversion. This is NOT a free-for-all forum, so, PLEASE keep it tame. Everyone is welcome here, as long as you honor our SOP. dnoyeB!: quote: I agree, I dont like the menu system. It would be nice if it were simply like the default windows menus. too big. fills whole screen some times. maybe just a reduction in the text size? Epsilon 5: quote: I agree. The text and menus should be smaller. It wouldn't change much, but it would be some better.Advil: quote: I think the menus are pretty good. If you can't change them at all from here they will work, but here's a few minor suggestions: 1) On the bridge, reduce the icon size of the pictures on the sides of the screen, and maybe put in a text indicator under the icon where appropriate. Example, have a smaller missile icon and a small text under it that says, "vagrant" or whatever you have selected. Do this for each of them where appropriate. Just a general size reduction wouldn't be bad. A little here, a little there... 2) On the bridge again, some of those blue menus really layer up bigtime, epcecially for ship orders. Maybe the previous menu should go transparent or disappear from view until you go back a layer? 3) I've gotten used to the auto select by moving the mouse over things, EXCEPT for on the screens with the small blue arrows. Like when trying to assign pilots/marines to ships. I'm constantly missing the tiny arrow i want and having to back out of the wrong person, or i accidentally select the one next to the one I intended, thereby screwing up my existing assignments. A plain click method on all the small blue arrows would be nice. mostly minor stuff... Supreme Commander: quote: heh, easier said than done. Nope, can't make those changes. What I have right now, works. And all I want to remain focused on finishing the game. If I finish on time (and pigs can fly), then I'll start looking into stuff like this.
  15. If you are having difficulties with the BCM demo that do not fall in the categories of video or sound, please post them here.
  16. Post technical difficulties with your sound while running BCM here. This thread is not for opinions on sound or music - tech issues only, please.
  17. Post here if you are having difficulty with your computer's video while running BCM. This thread is not for opinions on BCM's graphics. [This message has been edited by aramike (edited 03-19-2001).]
  18. Post all issues and comments about the interface in this thread please.
  19. quote: Only thing Im having trouble with is getting a shuttle full of marines deploy on a station, it just seems to sit still and get shot.Marines cannot deploy on stations in BCM. Welcome aboard!
  20. Yeah, this thread has everything to do with the premise of the game. For future reference, if something has nothing to do with how the game actual IS, don't post a new topic about it, please.
  21. Chillum, your post was indeed deleted. Not as a form of cencorship or ANYTHING of the kind. Here are a few ground rules that need to be followed around here: Do not post redundant topics. This site has a nice search function on it. Too many topics of the exact same content renders that search function useless. If you've got a question, make sure to post it in a thread pertaining to that question if that thread already exists. Yes, this means you may have to look around to be sure, but it will save everyone else a little bit of time. Post your questions in the appropriate forum. I (or any administrator/CAT member) will only spend so much time moving topics to appropriate forums. After awhile, that gets redundant, so we start deleting threads.Chillum, on this board we don't just go around banning users and deleting accounts. Wherever you got that idea, I don't know. If you're doing something wrong, you will be warned before any administrative action is taken. We may be firm, but we are always fair. Also, you said this yourself: quote: The follow up one even said 'off topic' in the title...If it had "off topic" in the title, you knew that it was, indeed, off-topic. In order to keep this board clean, all topics should be relevant to the forum that they are in. I hope this matter is now cleared up. Your account still exists and, at this time, I have no intentions of removing it. If you need further assistance, send email to [email protected] .
  22. quote: Who thought that one up?The patient's bill of rights? Congress. quote: And what happens if they still can't pay?I'm not sure if I understand the question. IF they can't pay, they STILL receive services and are billed. IF they continue to fail to pay, it may go on their credit report. Each case is unique. Anyway, I'm resigning from this discussion until you answer those questions. It (especially now) seems as though you are avoiding them.
  23. This has to do with Misc Race/Caste. Gonna move it down there.
