quote: As someone new to the Doctor Who series I must say, I'm going to miss CE (I dunno his full name) and I loved the way he played the Doctor. I haven't seen the second series and can wait for SciFi to show it.Yeah..Christopher Eccleston was pretty good as the Doctor. I was sorry to see him go too. But once you see the second series with David Tennant, he's pretty good too! quote: But I wonder, why did they switch to a new Doctor after the first season? I think he can only regenerate, what? Two or three more times?I thought I had read somewhere that Christopher didn't want to be typecast in that role. Don't know if that's the real reason or not for sure. We need someone to hang around for a few years like Tom Baker. I think you're pretty close on how many regenerations are left. In case anyone is interested, here's a couple of good Doctor Who sites to visit: Official BBC Doctor Who Site Outpost Gallifrey

I'm a ways ahead of the episodes currently airing on the SciFi Channel. I've been watching the next season of Doctor Who episodes with David Tennant on YouTube. I must say that these episodes are really good so far...does the the Cybermen, Mary Jane and K-9 ring any bells?

quote: New recruit reporting for duty! Just got approved in the DB, awaiting for further instructionsI know...I'm the one that approved you. Like Quazar said, read my post #49 and go from there. quote: Hey, I used to be an Insurgent! Heh, I used to command a fleet... Any room for an old man just out of retirement? Welcome back, Aramike! I'm sure we can fit you in somewhere. A lot has changed in your absence and if you need filled in, send a PM to Chavik, Eclipse or myself. As for the GalCom propaganda that Eclipse is in charge..they are sadly mistaken. Their intelligence is flawed as usual. It's being led by the Insurgent High Command. -
Hehe, nice to hear from you Hasenau!

I'm sorry to hear about this, Jag. A little late seeing this, but nevertheless I hope everything works out. As WeeGee says, Best Wishes! -Sho

LostInSpace: Is it running pretty decent on your rig as you have it posted in your profile? WeeGee: How about your rig?

quote: Sho. It appears in the options, you need to uncheck the 'only watch battles if both sides are fleet' option.Yep, thanks, Darien...I found that earlier!

quote: Sho, I think you might have stumbled upon the detailed battle view. There's an option in the game's options menu where you can define if you'll always want 'full battles' when player ships are involved. Keep it ON, it's great eye candy. Yes, it was the detailed battle view. From what I read on it, it only appears when you have fleet battles. Single ship to ship combat does not use it as far as I know. quote: The ship builder will also suck up a gargantuan amount of your time.It certainly does! -Sho

After playing for about 2 hours without any confrontations among the races, the Drengin on my southern border decided they wanted to put an espionage base right smack in the middle of my territory. I calmly dialed them up and asked them to give it to me and they basically told me to go pound sand. At that time I ended communications and decided to send my newly found Precursor Cruiser over to destroy the espionage base which it did so with no problem. At that time, I was at war with the Drengin. I then sent my Cruiser into their territory and began destroying their bases and ships without any resistance. This Precursor Cruiser is very good. I have them blockaded on their planet at the moment. Combat is basically viewed from the map view, but you can rotate the camera around. On one of the battles, I somehow stumbled on a replay view which has different camera angles and such. I'll have to check out the manual and see how I did that. -Sho

I saw the preview for it while watching SciFi Friday. I'm looking forward to watching it. I used to watch it many years ago when it was on PBS.

Got it as well. Quite fun so far.

quote: Probably *sniff* This weeks episode was sad. First Billy gets dumped and then he dies Poor billy...I didn't watch last weeke's episode because it didn't really look too good to me. So..how did Billy die?

There are several copies for sale on eBay.

I just picked up the season on DVD the other day. I figured I'd watch it all before I get the movie. I wish I'd have watched this series earlier! I've only seen the first episode so far, and I really liked it. Sort of a "Sci-Fi Western."

quote: Shohashi, want to try a party adventure some evening/weekend? (My chars(thinking of running a mini-party of 2 for starting dwarf cleric(keeping) and some warrior class to tank until the cleric levels enough and can multiclass) will be low level.) I'll talk to you on MoM chat some time...Sure thing, cutterjohn. I have ran across one annoyance. When you get quests, the specifics don't save in your journal. With this happening, by the time you tackle your quest, you can't remember exactly what and where you have to go so you end up asking in chat. Another thing is there is no in-game map of the world. This would come in handy when you are trying to find places that you need to go while playing. As it stand now, you have to look at the loading screen (with the map of the world) as you are zoning.

quote: I hope i did get my sig right...or would it be Cadet?Nope..that's good for now...we aren't GalCom! I've also got you added in over on the ICC forum. -
quote: Combat: Melee, basically click and attack, feedback isn't synched closely enough with actions. Haven't tried spellcasting yet.Spellcasting definately helps combat. Especially when you can buff yourself with protection and combat spells, as well as use offensive spells in conjunction with your weapons when attacking. quote: Overall responsiveness: exhibits some lag on my system. I'd recomend at least 512M of RAM for this game(as with G2) as it seems to be VERY memory hungry. (Morrowind runs fine on my system with 256M although as implied above G2 wants more memory as well.) I'd really change the basic system requirements to at least 1GHz and 512M RAM, although there are reports of people playing it and well enough to enjoy on even lower specced machines, so YMMV.Fortunately, I haven't experience any lag at all. quote: Lack of a manual is VERY annoying, but there is ingame help with keyboard commands, engine/server "commands", a short FAQ for getting started and basic operation. Additionally initial default quests in the journal pretty much tell you what you need to do, nevertheless a coherently written manual separate from the game is sorely needed for most people. (It's in the works, just not available yet.)The in-game encylopedia in your tome tells you lot of information (quests, npcs, etc.). However, it needs to be a bit more organized. In it's current state you have to do a lot of digging in it to find what you need but the information is there. Also, the Prairie Games forum has a ton of game information to include gameplay tips and hints. quote: All of this being said, I really think it's more late beta quality right now than release, Prairies games should've pushed the release date back unless they really needed the cash flow...I disagree...it's very playable the way it is now and plus, it's nice to be a part of the game's infancy with a say in the game's direction. I've only been playing Multiplayer, IMHO when your MP you can at least interact with other players. One thing I don't like, is that if you start a character/party in Singleplayer, you cannot transfer them to Multiplayer. That's another reason why I've played only MP, I don't like to have to re-level my characters all over. It's important to remember that this game is still very much work in progress and is still in it's infancy. I'm very sure that as time goes by it will become better and better. Another neat thing about this game is that you can mod it and create new zones. If the zones are good enough, the game creators will add the zones into the game. A good case in point is the user-created dungeon that will be added in the very near future. Also, this game not only runs on the PC it's also for the Mac. -Sho

Welcome, Schaeffer! If you haven't done so already, please register in the Fleet Database under the Insurgents. Once you do that, we'll get you added to the appropriate fleet (based upon fleet manpower). Also, please visit the Insurgent Central Command and register to access the forums. If you have any further questions, please let us know! -Sho [ 06-22-2006, 07:28 PM: Message edited by: ShoHashi ] -
