  1. quote:Originally posted by Oban: Cheers all, I am new as well and would like to consider joining a fleet, however, can some of you vets give me an idea on how much time I will be required to commit to a fleet In the run of a week. I run my own business, have a young daughter and don't want to commit to any one fleet if I cant be an effective contributing member. In the alternative I will of course have to be an independant. Also I am located in the East Coast of Canada and was wondering if this would conflict greatly with fleet meeting times. Thanks in advance for your replies. Wraith Wing (in the Wraith Fleet) is specifically for Wraith Fleet members who just don't have enough time on their hands to jump into a full time position as it were. Contact myself (see my sig) or Tac for more information about Wraith if you're interested.
  2. quote:Originally posted by Urza: I just unloaded 5 million on artifacts. So, what do you mean, "partally works"? My RE isn't smart enough to analyze anything, but when she is, does she just start analyzing things or do you have to tell her to? And I thought you didn't have to analyze upgrade artifacts. I just bought a TA shield, but it doesn't appear on the upgrade list, and my RE isn't giving me any feedback. You're right about the upgrade artifacts, the question I have is exactly where is your TAS stored right now? Is it in a shuttle cargo hold as is won't show up as an upgrade option if it is. Things that just "sit there" like the Orb or JAC, as quick examples, will not function properly until the RE has sufficient AI to analyze them completely. IF the RE is smart enough to analyze the item, you won't have any need to give the order to do so.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Urza: Do you need to analyze artifacts that "just work" by sitting in the cargo bay? Yup, the Celestial Orb only partially works if it isn't analyzed.
  4. I've never cared that much for my own mug though my wife seems to think it's worth its weight in Kodak paper. Anyway, I "got into character" a bit can produced: [ 11-27-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]
  5. It showed up today.
  6. Seems like it was a discussion alongs these very lines that was my first introduction to these forums. Facts in the BC3K world: [*]RE has to have a certain AI level to research any given artifact. [*]Certain other officers also have to reach a given level for specific artifacts to function. [*]All artifacts, regardless of your crew's AI levels function to some degree. Here is an example of the net result: JAC requires that the RE and CE have set levels of AI to function properly, my crew were still floating somewhere in the produce aisles. While JAC tries to repair everything in site, he fails rather regularly and locks out the SE's even though he's failing at his job. Solution: Store JAC in a shuttle and take him for a ride when he acts this way until the RE and CE can be classified as animal and not vegetable life forms. My guess is that BCM artifacts function much the same way and that ships without RE will see even more problems with artifacts if they'll even work at all.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Skeletun: I do like the experience I had yesterday....My CC was stuck on earth and unable to lift off after I left the FO ( or was it the Nav O..still figuring out who to shoot ) at the helm and told them to head into orbit. Well to make a long story short (and have something to tell in another post), the Idiot damaged the craft so badly I couldnt take off, so I had a Shuttle lift me off the ground and take me to the GALCOM HQ, we got to 30k ft and started loosing altitude. The shuttle could not lift me up any higher, no matter what I did. Pretty cool if you ask me. Time to do some shopping at the local parts store and see if your CE is worth his salt!
  8. quote:Originally posted by Enur_74: Any chance that a landing pad can be put in a city so it can act like a space station for trading?? I hope that makes sense cause it would be really cool to land on a planet and trade with a city plus it makes a hell of alot more places to trade... ps: I don't think you can do this if you can and I'm a bonehead for missin it go ahead and beat me SC. See Section 7.3 Docking Procedures of the manual

    American Media

quote:Originally posted by Paddy Gregory: What annoys me most about bloody TV journos is the 'How do feel.......?' question they ask relatives of murder victims, or relatives of freed hostages etc or even freed hostages themselves. While I agree whole heartedly, I just have one question: How does one conduct an interview with a murder victim? Thank you for that treasure of hidden humor, it's been a rather bleak day and I needed the chuckle.
  10. quote:Originally posted by ausraider2: I've been flying around for hours checking out the different compounds - I don't even know what I'm looking for. How should it show up on the Tascan. Confused - Please help. First you need the PZones appendix of the manual (that's appendix V). If you haven't already downloaded the manual appendix file do so now. When you open that appendix, you'll note that it shows the locations for all the star bases (note the crucial difference between a BC star base and a BC star station). The only one on earth is located at 10888N, 8331E. Use TACOPS to locate that position on the planet and go there. Once there, locate the star base and dock (I see to remember that it's the biggest building in the vacinity but it's been over a year since I was planet side in BC3K).

  15. quote:Originally posted by Gallion: Wait for E3 if you want to play a demo. Why wait when he can download E2 right away, see if his system will handle the demo and whether the degradation from the video card is tolerable? Aggressor, the reason you want E2 over E1 is that both are public releases of the then current beta. If E3 were available, I'd say go get it because it would be the most current, error free, and optimized demo of the three. Keep in mind that if it won't run well on your system that there are valid reasons the SC set those minimums and that he doesn't tolerate complaints/bug reports/so forth from users with systems that don't meet the minimums.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Aggressor: Since the min requirments for BCM says you need a 16mb 3d accelerator, that means that i won't be able to play it, right? Actually, BCM will probably work for you but because your card is under the minimum you have no guarantee that it will. The game is designed to be playable on the minimum but that does not mean it will play well on the minimum. Now take that down one step due to your video card. The best suggestion (sans buying a new card of course) is to download the second demo and see what type of performance you get.

  18. quote:Originally posted by Urza: I post on this forum, then try to find the time acceleration button on my browser window to make time go by so someone will post a reply... For some reason I don't do it for BCM... Maybe I've been playing too much X-Com. You mean like calling an elevator a turbo shaft? Or telling my son to delete the letter he just wrote with a pencil because there is a “g” and an “h” before the “t” in “night”? Nope, never had that problem, you're just going mad. Logos

quote:Originally posted by DeSylva: I had noticed this as well, particularly the Gammulan logos and Baloogan's. You are right - it was originally enforced that the only logos allwoed for use in threads were the official ones. I have submitted (and received official approval) for the ISS fleet logo, which is why my fleet has begun using it. I believe Wraith may also have official approval for theirs. And I think Prime has approval for their Wing logos. You are correct that Wraith's logo has received approval. The standard animated Wraith sequence weighs in at 12.7KB, the morphed version at 112KB has been retired.

  21. quote:Originally posted by Kush: (Someone may want to set up a protocol as to how exactly site information is handled and how to verify they are copies of the actual game.) Already pretty much in place. Just email the pertinent details to the SC (pertinent being the URL and how you found it for starters). If he needs further details or verification, you can be sure that he'll get back with you.

  23. Silly me. Thanks for all the compliments. I can't do a thing when it comes to creating original art, I can see it but I've never been able to put it on paper as it were. On the other hand, give me some material and I can usually pull something together.

  25. quote:Originally posted by warreng: ok i see never mind, but what would you do if you got traped in a ambush? or is there such a thing in bmc? Imagine a cloaked Firestorm (or two or whatever) sidles up next to you, looses two missiles (choose your flavor) which slam into your shields nicely as it launches all it's figthers at you and cuts loose with all turrets. Such actions tend to have a negative impact on a player's day . [ 11-09-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]
