  2. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Nova: Yeah, I know. The save game thing really sucks when you can't restore and/or resume the game. Answers, SC? Simple: If a demo doesn't have some limitations, then there is no reason to get the full version. Afterall, demos are really only teasers. Rest assured, however, that something as basic as Save/Restore will function exactly as intended in the full version. ------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. Alex, I'll pass on that one and take tractor beams for 200... quote:2. is it possible to capture cargoboxes with your carrier/cruiser with a tractor beam and get it into the ship? (not using a shuttle) In short, no. The question you must ask yourself is this: Do I want to get caught with my pants (shields) down when a BC decloaks next to my CC? quote:3. I have noticed that sometimes fighters, who have been given a halt command, just stay at that halt command, drifting in space, even when given other orders, they still keep having the order "halt". Two things can cause this: Dead pilots and damaged craft. Terribly unfortunate but not an impossibility. quote:4. is it possible to capture other enemy fighters, shuttles? (when you lost some of your own and have free fighter/shuttles bays), without going to a starbase. (ie tractor a dissabled fighter into your bay. --> I know you can with your own dissabled fighters). Nope, you can't replace your own support craft with captured ships. ------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. Hard, Fast, Furious... 8. quote:Originally posted by aramike: After you post, when you get the page that says to "Wait while we create the new page", do NOT click on the link that it provides. Let it automatically forward you. The server takes a few seconds to process your post so if you click that link too early, the new page isn't up yet. I know and I don't click the link either. The really weird example is the ICQ thread I mentioned, even though I had not been to the forums during that current browsing session, I could not see the new posting until I had manually refreshed even though the threads page for the General Forum showed there was a new post in that thread. PS. There is one other common thread I had not thought about until just now: the Demo. Is is possible that site traffic is up enough that the current 5 second delay between posting and the autopage refresh is not long enough for the new page to actually generate on occasion? As to my thing with the ICQ thread, it is possible that I opened the thread before the new page was generated as well. Not highly possibly, but it would fit in with the rest of the above explanation. ------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. 9. quote:Originally posted by Parias: Really? Comes up fine for me.. you guys using Netscape or something? IE 5.50.4522.1800 and it doesn't happen everytime but for some odd reason I'm seeing cached pages instead of the updated pages. (No, I haven't tweak my settings lately and no we don't use a proxy or other cache manager other than the standard IE cache). For example, I read the thread about Andergum's ICQ number with one reply. Came back and read it again as it now had two replies. The second reply would not show, even though I've actually restarted IE since the first view until after I had manually refreshed the page. This thread, however, showed your reply without needing to reload. At this point, there is no pattern as to when I need to refresh and when I don't. The only constant is that this all started about the same time that the threads in the demo group did their vanishing act. ------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. 10. I've noticed a rash of double and triple posts. I also noted that after I post, my post is not showing up on the page until after I manually refresh it. This is a fairly recent development, possibly related to the vanished threads a couple of days ago? PS. Don't repost your messages if they don't show up until after you've manually refreshed the page. ------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. 12. quote:Originally post by Kush I liked the demo, but I want the full game. At this point, I'd like to know that work is still going full steam ahead on the full game. I check the version control file daily to see if the terrain engine has been installed yet. I honestly don't give a damn about how solid the demo becomes. I wan't the full game to have solid code. The thing about this game is that the game play is deeper than the average game. That's what I want, and NO demo of this game is going to give me the full experience. I say learn what you can that's useful about the demo experience. Find a way to get that z-buffer thing figured out. (I'm a Voodoo chile so it doesn't really affect me) Get the new terrain in there, multiplayer, get all that solid and then worry about getting the demo rock solid. Did you miss this? quote:From the demo readme The demo is based on BCM Beta code and does have issues related to operation etc. The demo uses the same code as the current beta for when it was released. I highly doubt that you'll see any change in the VCF you can access until the next demo is released. That does not indicate that there is no further testing in progress, just that you don't have access to the beta testing information. That new demo will be based on the then current beta just like this one and you'll see a new VCF then too. ------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. 14. quote:Originally posted by Kurt Meyer: I do not think there was any cloaked ships near me because I had several probes active in the system and I was there for some time before and after and there was nothing there. Probes won't give you any more information than your normal information gathering equipment. quote:Assuming there was a cloaked ship it would have had to decloak eventually right? Or I would have at least been getting some static in my NID or CVD or some data from the probes. Never underestimate the intelligence of the AI. The static "appears" to increase/decrease depending on the proximity of the cloaked ship to your own. It is highly possible for an enemy ship to jump in system, transport infiltrators to your ship and then leave the system. In reality though, transporters work on the same range system that your scanners work. In short, if they can see you, they can board you. ------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. Hard, Fast, Furious... FIRST! 16. quote:Originally posted by Mongrol: A point to SC. Betatesters do not complain about the interface. This is because they are seasoned players of BC, probably for years and have gotten used to it. Time moves on though, and design, in terms of accessability in gaming develops over years. Lessening the learning curve and making BCM more accessable to newbies (of which I am one) should be a priority. To a certain degree, you are right. Actually, as the SC can tell you, we moan and groan about anything and everything that we don't like. The real reason that we tend to ignore this issue is the same reason that the SC has put this on the back burner: It's a cosmetic fix. We're much more worried about things that actually break the game. It's not that the beta testers lean one way or another, we just don't really worry about it because it isn't really broke. When we get to the point where aesthetics becomes our biggest concern instead of helping Derek iron the wrinkles out, I'm sure you'll find a nice pot of flowers on the bridge of each command vessel and the lounge area of each starstation tastefully re-wallpapered. I should add that Derek really is concerned with the ability of the new commander to actually command. So even if your comments go unused, do not think that they go unconsidered. ------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. 19. quote:Originally posted by Claude DAVID: Hello here, I spent many hours on Voodooextreme site, waiting to put my hands on the BCM beta annonced by Derek himself for 03:00am. Time ran and nothing happened The one thing people must keep in mind is that BCM is still beta testing and that the unexpected always happens during beta testing. Now, I don't have a clue as to why the demo was not made available on schedule but this would not be the first time that Murphy has reared his ugly head to delay a software project. I hate to put it this way but: These things happen and there is no need to panic. We just ran into this quirk in BCM and I just fixed it in the latest Beta. Never, ever tell your shuttle to tow you or it will deliver you either to the station or to itself. Its called ...the legacy of the ghost ship Addendum: Never ever ever ever tell your ship to collect cargo of any type and then tell it to tow your ship. Launch a "clean" shuttle with no orders and then tell it to tow your ship.
